Mrs. Phoebe Bagby

Homemaker

Mrs. Phoebe Carlisle Bagby, 89, of 3890 Wrightsboro Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Poteet Funeral Home, Wheeler Road, with the Revs. Albert Stroup and J. Hoffman Harris officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Bagby, a native of Flowery Branch, Ga., was a homemaker.

The family said she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved by all.

Survivors include three sons, James E. ``Jim" Bagby and C. Roger Bagby Sr., both of Augusta, and Carl F. Bagby, Martinez; one daughter, Sara B. Edmondson, Vinemont, Ala.; one sister, Dorothy C. Schroeder, Madison, Wis.; and six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Bonner, J.N. Copelan, Marion Duffie Sr., David Gibbs, C. Hugh Jones and Rob Heffner.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Timothy Beard

Mr. Timothy Beard, 46, of 1128 13th St., died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mulberry Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Lincolnton, Ga., with the Rev. Christopher Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Beard, a native of Augusta, was a member of Mulberry Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

The family said he will be missed greatly by his family and many friends. He was a very loving and patient person.

Survivors include his mother, Lillie Bell Jones Beard; and two sisters, Gloria E. LaFavor and Lillian Christopher, both of Augusta.

Pallbearers will be Byron T. Christopher, Robert Elam, Ezra LaFavor, Milton Yarbary, Ray Christopher, Cutecell Lafavor, Robert Taylor and Smitty Melton.

Friends may call at the residence or C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Donald Beckman

Retired mechanical engineer

AIKEN -- Mr. Donald C. Beckman, 68, of 1211 Woodbine Drive, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at South Aiken Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Olin McBride and Joe Lusk officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Mount Hope cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Florence.

Mr. Beckman, a native of Duquesne, Pa., was a retired mechanical engineer with Kendall Pharmaceutical Co. and a member of South Aiken Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and a member of American Legion Post No. 26 and Houndslake Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Whittingham Beckman; one son, Keith Beckman, Darlington; two stepsons, Russell Miles, Florence, and Steve Miles, Latta; two brothers, William Beckman, Plainville, Mass., and Paul Beckman, Rock Hill; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bill Norton, Dick Flynt, Craig Rich, Paul Morgan, Jim Head and David Frishcosey.

Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Rivers Funeral Home.

Mr. Charlie Brown II

Retired truck driver

THOMSON -- Mr. Charlie L. Brown II, 65, of 606 Clary St., died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Springfield Baptist Church with the Rev. F.D. Favors officiating. Burial will be in William Grove Baptist Church, Warren County.

Mr. Brown, a native of Warren County, was retired from Thomson Oak Flooring Co. as a truck driver.

The family said he was a dedicated husband and family man.

Survivors include his wife, Judy M. Brown; two sons, Jesse Hampton, New Jersey, and Charlie Brown III, Augusta; one daughter, Denise Brown, Augusta; a stepson, Anthony B. Brown, Philadelphia; and three sisters, Vannie B. Hill, Thomson, Velma Wright, Augusta, and Annie B. Scott, Philadelphia.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Cowins, Fred Carlton, Jessie Brown, Reggie Scott, Barry Scott, Freddie Germany and James Hill Jr.

Friends may call at noon today at Crawford Mortuary.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and after the burial at J.H. West Fellowship Hall.

Mr. Robert Brown Jr.

Army retired

Mr. Robert A. Brown Jr., 71, of 2214 Tubman Home Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Telfair Street, with the Rev. Don Tipton officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Mr. Brown, a native of Clearwater, had retired from the Army and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict.

Survivors include five sons, Andy Brown and Tim Brown, both of Augusta, Robert A. Brown III, Evans, Tony Brown, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Patrick Brown, Swainsboro, Ga.; three daughters, Tessie B. Smith, Douglasville, Ga., Rachel J. Larrimore, Anyor, S.C., and Elizabeth G. Brown, Augusta; one sister, Inez Coffield, Augusta; and 10 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of the military.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 3630 J. Dewey Gray Circle, Augusta, GA 30909.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Charlie Bussey Sr.

Retiree

DANIA, Fla. -- Mr. Charlie Bussey Sr., 71, of 211 S.W. 12th Ave., died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at Hollywood Memorial Hospital.

The memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon Mole officiating.

Mr. Bussey, a native of Augusta, was retired and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Keith Bussey and Charlie Bussey Jr., both of Augusta; three daughters, Daizy Buchaman, Pamela Bussey and Wanda Bussey Carroll, all of Augusta; and one sister, Mary Lee Kyler, Augusta.

Friends may call at the residence of Daizy Buchaman or at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends at 2:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ms. Julia Crawford

Hollingsworth Candy Co. retiree

Ms. Julia Kate Crawford, 93, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Westwood Nursing Center, Evans.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Jack Custer officiating.

Ms. Crawford, a native of Blythe, Ga., was retired from Hollingsworth Candy Co. and was a member of Baker Woods Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Telfair Street.

Mr. Grover Cunningham

Retiree

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Mr. Grover Cunningham, 82, of 3941 Charleston Highway, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at Lexington Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Simmons Funeral Home, Williston, with the Rev. W.J. Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Sand Hill cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Williston.

Mr. Cunningham, a native of Laurens County, was retired from the City of Laurens and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, Waterloo. He had attended Laurens County public schools.

Survivors include one brother, Ulyesses Cunningham, Laurens; and three sisters, Varnette C. Kirk, Washington, Ola C. Lawerence, Lillington, N.C., and Maggie C. Palmer, New York.

Ms. Willie Dicks

Cosmetics representative

COLUMBIA -- Ms. Willie Lee Dicks of 1212 Lyons St. died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at Lexington Medical Extended Care Center, Lexington.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Aiken, with the Rev. Joseph Cook officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Ms. Dicks, a native of Aiken, was a cosmetics representative of Dicks Cosmetic and a beautician She had been a nurses assistant. She had attended Bettis Academy School, Trenton, and Benedict College. She was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include three brothers, Earnest Dicks, Aiken, Samuel Dicks, Atlanta, and Mingo W. Dicks, Williston; and six sisters, Penny O. Smith, Josephine D. Smiley, Nazerine Morgan and Leola N. Dicks, all of Aiken, Florrie D. Williams, Graniteville, and Dorothy D. Glasper, Columbia.

Friends may call at the residence of Penny O. Smith, 4505 Storm Branch Road, Aiken.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, or from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Palmer Memorial Chapel.

Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home, Aiken, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Edna Ensling

Retired hairdresser

BEECH ISLAND -- Mrs. Edna Bell Fountain Ensling, 80, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Keysville Nursing Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Platt's Crawford Avenue, Augusta, with the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Oglethorpe Memorial Park, Hinesville, Ga.

Mrs. Ensling, a native of Vidalia, Ga., was a retired hairdresser and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Vidalia. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Hinesville.

The family said she was an avid bingo player and fisherman, but above all she was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include two sons, John P. Ensling Jr. and Adam M. Ensling, both of Hinesville; one daughter, Lois Neddine Parrish, Beech Island; two brothers, James E. Fountain, Vidalia, and C.D. Fountain, Tarrytown, Ga.; and 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
