Mr. Charles Landrum

Lay's Potato Chip Co. retiree

GRIFFIN, Ga. -- Mr. Charles Landrum, 59, of 1301 Hillwood Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Greenlawn cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery with the Rev. Eddie Roland officiating.

Mr. Landrum, a native of Greene County, was a retired driver for Lay's Potato Chip Co.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Chapman Landrum; two daughters, Barbara Lynne Howell, McDonough, and Cynthia L. Tarleton, Orchard Hill; his parents, Robert L. Landrum and Louise L. Landrum, both of Union Point; two brothers, Robert Landrum, Griffin, and Ronald Landrum, Sharpsbury; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Callaway Funeral Home, Union Point, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Frances Minor

Retired seamstress

AIKEN -- Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Smith Minor, 75, of 166 Village Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Solid Rock Baptist Church with the Revs. Jack Cole and Ronnie Powell officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley.

Mrs. Minor, a native of Donalds, was a retired seamstress with Aiken Industries. She was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church, where she was a member of Young at Heart, Willing Workers Sunday School Class.She was a member of the Rainbow Club at Millbrook Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth R. Timms, High Springs, Fla.; one daughter, Gail Hair, Aiken; two sisters, Ida Williams, Aiken, and Kathleen Eakin, Greenwood; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jim Gibson, Dave Golding, Allison Robinson, Barron Koon, Harry Schultz, Steve Talbert and Kelly Woodward.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Willing Workers Sunday School Class.

Memorials may be made to Solid Rock Baptist Church, 3079 Old Powderhouse Road, Aiken, SC 29803.

Friends may call at the residence.

Rivers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Reatha Myers

Housekeeper

AIKEN -- Mrs. Reatha M. Myers, 79, of 614 Edgefield Ave. N.W., died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at Allendale General Hospital.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Alf Mills Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Jessamine Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Myers, a native of Allendale County, was a housekeeper and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include two stepsons, Lartee Myers and Jackie Myers; four stepdaughters, Emily E. Hickson, Beatrice Myers, Doris M. Young and Dyana Bey; two brothers, Louis Hicks and Ernest Hicks; four sisters, Minnie B. Cappers, Bertha Elmore, Daisy M. Forst and Geneva Allen; and 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be deacons and trustees of Friendship Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Miller's Funeral Home.

Mr. Carl Nash

Army retired

HARLEM -- Mr. Carl Nash, 79, of 460 E. Boundary St., died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Harlem Memorial cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery with the Revs. Wayne Smith and Robert J. Blankenship officiating.

Mr. Nash, a native of Memphis, Tenn., was retired from the Army and the Postal Service. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he was a prisoner of war for 42 months and was in the Bataan Death March in 1942. He was a member of Harlem United Methodist Church and was instrumental in helping form the little league in Harlem.

Survivors include his wife, Miriam M. Nash; one son, Robert ``Buddy" Nash, Hephzibah; two daughters, Gina Berge, Martinez, and Barbara Owens, North Augusta; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of the military.

Memorials may be made to Harlem United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 63, Harlem, GA 30814; or Harlem Baptist Church, P.O. Box 790, Harlem, GA 30814.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Starling Funeral Home.

Mr. Hester Prescott

WINDSOR -- Mr. Hester Evert Prescott, 60, of 186 Wendy Lane, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Spring Branch Baptist Church with Kenny Heiss and the Rev. Ernest Webb officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Prescott, a native of Wagener, was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church and Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Prescott; one son, Hester E. Prescott Jr., West Columbia; three daughters, Sherry Prescott, Pelion, Cheryl Prescott, Gaston, and Donna Prescott Bravo, Windsor; one brother, Charles R. Miller, Windsor; one sister, Inez Abstance, Windsor; and 13 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Williams, Troy Williams, Nathan Bodie, Jamie Scott, Sonny Cushman and John Cushman.

Memorials may be made to Spring Branch Baptist Church, 641 Centerwood Road, Windsor, SC 29856.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Rivers Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cantrell Shackleford

Retired licensed practical nurse

HOLLY HILL, Fla. -- Mrs. Cantrell P. Shackleford, 91, of 1218 Old Kings Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Osmond Beach.

Graveside services were held Friday at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Henry Erwin officiating.

Mrs. Shackleford, a native of Hahira, Ga., was a retired licensed practical nurse and a member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, William Shackleford, Holly Hill, Vernon Shackleford, Cocoa, and Leroy Shackleford, Millen, Ga.; one daughter, Jane S. Hudson, Anchorage, Alaska; and 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Platt's Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue, was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. William Smith Jr.

Retiree

TENNILLE, Ga. -- Mr. William ``Bobby" Smith Jr., 79, of 4541 Georgia Highway 68 S., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Tennille United Methodist Church with the Revs. Donald R. Youmans and Frank Appel officiating. Burial will be in Zeta cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Smith, a native of Washington County, was a retired officer and director of Washington Manufacturing Co. and a member of Tennille United Methodist Church, where he had been chairman of the official board and chairman of the pastor parish committee. He was a member and past president of the Tennille Rotary Club and a member of the Capital City Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the European and Pacific theaters of operation.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Eva Gay Smith; one son, William Clinton Smith, Tennille; two brothers, C.V. Smith and John Holder Smith, both of Tennille; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Will Smith, Clint Gay, Jase Ingram, Jay Smith, Joe Thomas, Thomas Smith and Terry Lord.

Memorials may be made to Tennille United Methodist Church or the Rosa M. Tarbutton Memorial Library.

Friends may call at the residence.

Mr. Willie Smith

WASHINGTON, Ga. -- Mr. Willie Clyde Smith, 65, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at Fairview Hospital, Dublin.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Mount Pleasant Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. G.L. Avery officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Smith, a native of Wilkes County, served in the Army and was a member of Mount Pleasant African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Survivors include one son, Richard Smith, Orlando, Fla.; one daughter, Christene Smith, Orlando; his mother, Fannie Mae Jackson, Washington; four brothers, Aubrey Smith Jr., Tacoma, Wash., Fred D. Jackson, Hopkinsville, Ky., James E. Jackson, Washington, and David L. Jackson, Atlanta; two sisters, Agnes Hurley and Mary Williams, both of Washington; and seven grandchildren.

Davenport-McLendon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
