Dennis Roberts
Dennis Roberts, age 44, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away January 28, 2009. He was born
in Jackson County, Michigan to Minnie Patton Roberts and the late Daniel Jackson Roberts. Dennis had owned his own concrete company and enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. Dennis loved his family and enjoyed cutting up, making people laugh and being the class clown.
Survivors include his daughter, Morgan Rae Roberts and his little buddy, Garrett Bates; mother, Minnie R. (Herman May) Young; siblings, Rick (Teresa) Stone, Connie Gibson, Sandie (Shen) Vanderheyden, Danny Roberts, David (Joy) Roberts, Diane Roberts, Dwayne Roberts, Donnie (Andrena) Roberts, Doris Roberts, Dale (Patricia) Roberts; mother of his daughter and best friend, Tammy Bates; numerous nieces and nephews.

Olin Hinton Bonner
Olin Hinton Bonner, age 80 of McDonough, Georgia, passed away February 1, 2009. He was born
in Henry County to the late Riley Hinton and Annie Lee Upchurch Bonner. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Bonner Belk. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired from civil service. He was on the Board of Directors of Snapping Shoals Electric Membership Cooperative for 20 years, and also on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Electric Membership Cooperative, and a member of Bethany Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Betty Bunn Bonner of McDonough; sons, Gregory Allen (Debbie) Bonner of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Douglas Hinton Bonner of McDonough; grandson, Andrew Hinton Bonner of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Funeral services will be conducted February 4, at 3 p.m. from Bethany Baptist Church. Rev. Al O’Quinn will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Gerald Edison Marchant, Sr.
Gerald Edison Marchant, Sr., age 80, of Bowman, Georgia, died February 1, 2009. Mr. Marchant was born
in Perry, Florida, March 15, 1928, son of the late Reason and Emma Lou Paul Marchant. He was a foreman in the construction industry and was also a foreman for NASA for a number of years. Mr. Marchant was a United States Army-Air Force Veteran and was a former member of the Elbert County Board of Commissioners.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn (Kay) Yeomans Marchant; sons, Gerald Marchant, Jr., Jonesboro, Michael Marchant, Stockbridge, Terry Marchant, McDonough, Will Marchant, Boseman, Montana; daughter, Peggy Clark, Eatonton; brother, Dave Marchant, Moultrie; sister, Romelle Crumm, Melborn, Florida; 11 Grandchildren; 12 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
Graveside Services for Mr. Marchant will be at 1 p.m., February 4, in the McDonough City Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the St. Mary’s Hospice House, 1660 Jennings Mill Road, Bogart, Ga. 30622. Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.
William Ray Oliver
William Ray Oliver, age 93, of Forest Park, Georgia, passed away January 19, 2009. Mr. Oliver was born
in Red Oak, the son of the late Ella Frances Payton and Edgar Ray Oliver. He was a member of Ash Street Baptist Church, and a past member of the Moose Lodge of Forest Park. He enjoyed bowling, deer hunting, and fishing and was an avid walker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Elenora Hall Oliver; grandson, Robert Richard Hall and several siblings.
Survivors are his children, Robert “Bobby” Oliver and wife Jane of Hampton and Ruth Oliver Drew of McDonough; grandchildren, Warren Hall, Woody Hall, Frank Hall, Darrell Oliver, Steven Oliver and Deyna Lewis; 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Catherine Ramey of Jasper, and Evelyn Hart of Lincoln, California, and several nieces and nephews.

Beulah Elizabeth Tolliver
Beulah "Betty" Elizabeth Tolliver, 85, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away January 15, 2009. She was born
June 4, 1923, one of six children of the late William and Corena "Corda" Tolliver of Crandon Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by two children, Keith and Ervin Dreblow, her sisters Lenora Tolliver and Virginia Cox, and her loving companion Henry "Hank" Betzhold. After retiring from the Milwaukee Public Library, Betty's greatest enjoyment was playing Sheepshead and serving milk at Wilson Park Senior Citizen Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail and Kenneth Whiteaker of McDonough, son Rodney and Kaye Dreblow of Springhill, Tennessee, brother William and Emma Lee Tolliver, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, sisters Aleta Tolliver of Dayton, Ohio and Myrliah Ison of Crandon, Wisconsin. She is also survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Many thanks to the special caregivers and friends at Dogwood Forest. Betty will always be remembered as a loving and caring person who never met a stranger. We will miss you Mom, Grandma, and Sister.
A private memorial service attended by family was held in her honor. Cremation Society of the South at Eagle’s Landing.
Catherine Craig Hammond
Catherine Craig Hammond, age 81, of Griffin, Georgia, passed away January 19, 2009. Mrs. Hammond was born
in Henry County, the daughter of the late Chester and Lois Wilder. She was one of eight children and was preceded in death by sisters, Nora Owens, Sara Farmer and Mildred Ma-son; and brother, John Wilder. Mrs. Hammond was also preceded in death by her grandson, Lane Dozier. Mrs. Hammond was of the Baptist faith. She could sew beautifully, having retired from the textile industry; and was an avid quilter up until recently.
Mrs. Hammond is survived by her children, Milton (June) Craig of Griffin, Jeanie (La-von) Dozier of Milner, Mike (Susan) Craig of Locust Grove, and Lynn (John) Liford of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Amy (Jeff) King of Milner, Heather Goodson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jason Craig of Griffin, Amanda Craig of Griffin, Angela Craig Barnette of Locust Grove, Kevin Craig of Locust Grove, and Miles Goodson of Nashville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Shelby King of Milner, Michael Jeffrey King of Milner, Joston Segars of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Kayla Crile of Griffin; sisters, Mary Brooks of Griffin, Alice (Tommy) Dick of McDonough, and brother Jim (Edith) Wilder of McDonough; numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles C. Walker, Jr.
Charles C. Walker, Jr., age 87, of Hampton, Georgia, passed away January 18, 2009. Mr. Walker was born
in Fulton County, the son of the late Mamie Yancey and Charles C. Walker, Sr. He was a member of Hampton United Methodist Church for 53 years, where he served in all areas of the church from Sunday School Teacher to chairman of the board. He worked for Ford Motor Company for 36 years. Mr. Walker served his country in the US Coast Guard during WWII. He enjoyed gardening and for a hobby enjoyed his telescope and astronomy. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his son, Clay Howell Walker and a brother, Edward Walker.
Survivors are his wife, Virginia B. Walker of Hampton; daughter and son-in-law; Cindy and Don Johnson of Hampton; grandchildren, Trevor Johnson of Auburn, Alabama, and Mallory Johnson of Hampton; brother and sister-in-law; Maxwell and Kay Walker of Alpharetta; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Walker were January 22 at Hampton United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Burgess officiating. Interment was at Jones Memorial Cemetery
