HEPHZIBAH -- Mrs. Mae B. Haire, 65, of 1321 Hephzibah-McBean Road, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Miracle Baptist Church with the Rev. John Raborn officiating. Burial will be in Hephzibah Vance Memorial cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.
Mrs. Haire, a native of Washington, was a homemaker and a member of Miracle Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Vester E. Haire; four sons, Tommy Hill, Tacoma, Wash., Vester Larry Haire, Harrison, Ohio, Richard Haire and Tony Haire; five daughters, Sharon Haire and Diane Haire, both of Tacoma, Terry Hair, South Carolina, Debra Warner, Cowpens, S.C., and Patricia Yestenes, Ettrice, Wis.; one sister, Elsie Ogren, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bill Anderson, Charles Black, Scottie Williams, Doug Lively, Roger Emory and Bob Hand.

SWAINSBORO, Ga. -- Mr. William ``Bill" Johnson, 76, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Union Grove United Methodist Church, Midville, with the Revs. Rick Holt and Roland Falls officiating. Burial will be in Eastbrook cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson, a native of Emanuel County, was retired as owner and operator of Bill's Body Shop. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church and the Men's Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Susie J. Hart, Swainsboro, Sheila Ann Luckey, Augusta, and Virginia Coley, Savannah; one brother, Bobby Green Johnson, Guyton; one sister, Willie Lane, Twin City; and five grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Randy Thompson, Alton Johnson, Robert Johnson, Wallace Turner, Bobby Lindsey and Larry Luckey Jr.

WILLISTON, S.C. -- Mrs. Betty Fountain Jowers, 66, of Yarrow Creek Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at her residence.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Williston First Baptist Church with the Revs. Floyd Dukes, Nathan Roland and Jimmy Hanf officiating. Burial will be in Williston cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.
Mrs. Jowers, a native of Pitts, Ga., was retired from Southern Bank and Trust and had worked at Bud Berma Manufacturing Co. She was the first woman to serve on the Williston City Council and was a member of Williston First Baptist Church, where she was a member of Lydia Sunday School Class and the Morning Current Mission Circle. She was a member of the Williston Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Quinby Allen Jowers; one son, Kenneth Jowers, Atlanta; one daughter, Terri Jowers Willis, Williston; two sisters, Sara Butler, Columbus, Ga., and Margaret Howren, Asheville, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mark Starnes, Wes Harper, Weston Harper, Rudy Starnes, Paul Edwards and Andy Deering.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Merry Makers of Williston First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Louise Salter Kelley, of 2240 Morningside Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at University Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Wofford B. Caughman Jr. officiating.
Mrs. Kelley, a native of Bartow, was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women and held advanced degrees from the University of Georgia. She was a teacher, program coordinator and reading program director for the Richmond County School System. She organized and led the CSRA Reading Council and assisted in founding the Richmond County English Council. She was a member of the Georgia Reading Committee, State Advisory Committee and Richmond County Association of Educators. She was a public speaker and seminar leader at various conferences. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Kappa Delta Pi, National Education Association, Georgia Department of Instrumental Supervision and Curriculum Development, American Association of University Women, the parent-teachers association and Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, George W. Kelley Jr., Evans; one daughter, Helen K. Cleaveland, Shell Point Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Rubye Cox, Augusta, and Della Allen, Gaithersburg, Md.; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be George W. Kelley IV, Robert S. Haynie Sr., Sigman C. Haynie, John C. Haynie, Lansing R. Holmes, Steven F. Maynard and Carey P. Lewis Jr.

CLARKSTON, Ga. -- Mrs. Allean Pollard Littles, 79, of 2201 Brockett Way, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at Briancliff Haven Nursing Home.

Mrs. Littles, a native of Aiken, had retired as operator of Pollard's Restaurant and had been employed by Aiken Preparatory School. She was a member of Hayden Baptist Church, Aiken, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Gwendolyn Johnson, Columbia, and Warner Carrington, Clarkston; one brother, Jacob Pollard, Aiken; one sister, Carrie Lou Richardson, Aiken; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Story, a native of Glascock County, was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Gibson.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Story Sr., Augusta, and Rickey Story Sr., Evans; three daughters, Jean Story and Angela Ash, both of Hephzibah, and Sylvia Prendergast, Martinez; one sister, Geneva Stearns, North Augusta; and 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

HEPHZIBAH -- Mr. Ronald Wayne ``Bill" Webster, 55, of 1371 Greiner Circle, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at DeLoach Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with the Revs. Jack Fuqua and Stephen R. Jones officiating. Burial will be in Burke Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro.
Mr. Webster, a native of Owen County, Ky., was a retired tax accountant and had been owner and operator of Rhodes-Murphy Tax Service. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church, Waynesboro. He was a member and had been secretary of Waynesboro Exchange Club. He served in the Army Reserves 382nd field hospital as a medic.
Survivors include his wife, Edith J.H. Webster; three daughters, Diana Adams and Carol Murray, both of Puyallup, Wash., and SeJana Vaught, Portland, Ore.; three brothers, Bobby G. Webster, New Liberty, Ky., Gary C. Wheeler, Erlanger, Ky., and Jimmy A. Webster, Niceville, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ronald R. Cliett, Jimmy G. Williams, Leonard Hill, Johnny Jenkins, John C. Lewis, Bill Van Pelt, Randy M. Crawford and Hugh Avery.

Mr. Young, a native of Augusta, was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Frank Mattison Starnes Jr., 56, of 4441 Roxbury Drive, Evans, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Marvin United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Page officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.
Mr. Starnes, a native of Augusta, was a salesman with L.J.L. Truck Center and a member of Marvin United Methodist Church and Webb Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite.
The family said he was a loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Hill Starnes; two daughters, Cheryl Gamblin, Martinez, and Alyson Starnes, Maiden, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Charles Pate, Kenny Gamblin, David Brinkman, Allen King, Lance Goninan and Jimmy Nichols.
