AIKEN -- Mrs. Gertrude Young Maxwell, 83, of 3525 Augustus Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Platt's Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue, with the Revs. Steve Taylor and Donald Soule officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.
Mrs. Maxwell, a native of Stephens, Ga., was a former partner and retired office manager with Medical and Mercantile Collection Agency and Augusta Bookkeeping and Tax Service. She had lived in Augusta for 41 years and was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one son, Sherrod L. Maxwell III, Aiken; one daughter, Lyn Maxwell White, Arlington, Va.; one sister, Lu Roberts, Decatur, Ga.; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Kenneth R. Maykut, 52, of Evans, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Larson Funeral Home, Bridgeport, Conn. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Stratford, Conn.
Mr. Maykut, a native of Bridgeport, was an employee of the Columbia County Board of Education and had been employed by City Trust Bank and MasterCard International Co. He was a member of the St. Pius X Church choir, Fairfield, Conn. He had been a soccer coach with the Fairfield Recreation Department.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Lomme Maykut; two sons, Kenneth Doran Maykut and Jeb Stuart Maykut, both of Evans; his mother, Eleanor Majkut, Port Charlotte, Fla.; and one brother, Jan Majkut, Port Charlotte.

Mrs. Peterson, a native of Brockton, Mass., was a desk clerk for Garden City Bowling. A resident of Augusta since the late 1950s, she was a member of American Legion Post 205 Ladies Auxiliary. She moved to Grovetown in 1992.
