Mrs. Gertrude Maxwell

AIKEN -- Mrs. Gertrude Young Maxwell, 83, of 3525 Augustus Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Platt's Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue, with the Revs. Steve Taylor and Donald Soule officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Mrs. Maxwell, a native of Stephens, Ga., was a former partner and retired office manager with Medical and Mercantile Collection Agency and Augusta Bookkeeping and Tax Service. She had lived in Augusta for 41 years and was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one son, Sherrod L. Maxwell III, Aiken; one daughter, Lyn Maxwell White, Arlington, Va.; one sister, Lu Roberts, Decatur, Ga.; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Grace Brethren Church for African Missions, 142 Talatha Church Road, Aiken, SC 29801.

Friends may call at the funeral home.

Mr. Kenneth Maykut

Columbia County Board of Education

Mr. Kenneth R. Maykut, 52, of Evans, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Larson Funeral Home, Bridgeport, Conn. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Stratford, Conn.

Mr. Maykut, a native of Bridgeport, was an employee of the Columbia County Board of Education and had been employed by City Trust Bank and MasterCard International Co. He was a member of the St. Pius X Church choir, Fairfield, Conn. He had been a soccer coach with the Fairfield Recreation Department.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Lomme Maykut; two sons, Kenneth Doran Maykut and Jeb Stuart Maykut, both of Evans; his mother, Eleanor Majkut, Port Charlotte, Fla.; and one brother, Jan Majkut, Port Charlotte.

Memorials may be made to Maykut Children's College Fund, c/o Allied Bank of Georgia, P.O. Box 1040, Evans, GA 30809.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Annie Whilden NieDerding

NIEBERDING -- Entered into rest Jan. 15, 1998, in North Augusta, S.C., MRS. ANNE WHILDEN NIEBERDING, of Robin Rd., North Augusta.

Family members include daughters, Lisa N. Wheatley, Taran N. Newby; son, Joseph Anthony Nieberding; brother, William C. Whilden; sisters, Martha W. Mitchell, Elizabeth W. Hollo; brother, William C. Whilden; grandchildren, Chelsea Wheatley, Kristen Newby, Benjamin Wheatley, Elizabeth Newby.

The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at 2 p.m. at Church of the Most Holy Trinity, with Fr. Allan J. McDonald celebrant. The Vigil for the Deceased will be Friday night at 7:30 at the funeral home and the family will receive friends until 9 p.m.

Mrs. Blanche Nimmons

ULMER, S.C. -- Mrs. Blanche Lotts Nimmons, 87, of Route 1, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Nimmons, a native of Barnwell County, was a homemaker and a member of Sweet Branch Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Ralph Rice, North Carolina, Michael Holman, North Augusta, and James Lotts and Horace Lotts, both of Denmark; two daughters, Lois Lotts, Denmark, and Rosa Lee Lotts, Govan; one foster son, Walter Youmans, Ulmer; two foster daughters, Ella Mae Stokes and Willie Mae Lotts, Ulmer; one sister, Clara Mae Coleman, Denmark; and eight grandchildren.

Cave Funeral Service, Allendale, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Otis Norman

LINCOLNTON, Ga. -- Mr. Otis Norman, 63, of 1541 Gill Point Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. Ervin Norman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Norman, a native of Lincolnton, was retired and a member of New Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Otis Tyrone Holden; five brothers, Isaac Norman Jr., Tignall, Joe Norman, Decatur, Jesse Norman and Willie Fred Norman, both of Lincolnton, and Roy Clifford Norman, Chicago; and two sisters, Bertha N. Hill, Augusta, and Ozzie B. Walton, Lincolnton.

Pallbearers will be Jeffery Hill, Craig Norman, Donnie Norman, Jesse Norman, Justin Norman, Ronnie Norman, Wesley Norman and Anthony Walton.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Wright and Jones Funeral Home and after the funeral at New Tabernacle Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Mr. Jerry Pender

Carpenter

SPRINGFIELD, S.C. -- Mr. Jerry Pender, 50, of Springfield Road, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Springfield First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Foster officiating. Burial will be in Springfield cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery with Masonic rites.

Mr. Pender, a native of Orangeburg County, was a carpenter with Clearwater Construction Company, Irmo. He was a member of Dean Swamp Masonic Lodge, Sons of the Confederate Veterans and Springfield First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lynnel Gleaton Pender; a son, Michael Pender, Springfield; a daughter, Cinder Pender, Little River; a brother, Barry Pender, Fort Rucker, Ala.; and two sisters, Jeanette Cooper, Springfield, and Dorothy Vinson, Fairfax Station, Va.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Median Adult Sunday School Class.

GROVETOWN -- Mrs. Mary ``Chick" Peterson, 74, of Grovetown, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, at her residence.

Funeral services will be private.

Mrs. Peterson, a native of Brockton, Mass., was a desk clerk for Garden City Bowling. A resident of Augusta since the late 1950s, she was a member of American Legion Post 205 Ladies Auxiliary. She moved to Grovetown in 1992.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin ``Pete" Peterson Sr.; a son, M.A. ``Skip" Peterson Jr., Augusta; a daughter, Sharon Holmes, Grovetown; two brothers, Lawrence Joy and George T. Joy, both of Rockland, Mass.; a sister, Eleanor Garza, Monterey, Mexico; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Avera, with the Rev. Bruce Poss officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Pittman, a native of Newland, N.C., was a homemaker and a member of Marshall Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Audy Pittman, McRae, and Brad Pittman, Thomson; three daughters, Robin Creamer, McRae, Tina Riggs, Thomson, and Susan Lovelace, Appling; three brothers, Paul Robbins and Jim Robbins, both of Oregon, and Grant Robins, Washington; three sisters, Floss Evans, California, and Ann Calhoun and Lib Hartley, both of North Carolina; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Creamer, Kurt Gordon, Jason Surrels, Patrick Bargeron, Floyd Crouch and Bobby Reynolds.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at James and Lowe Funeral Home, Wrens.

Mrs. Annie Rease

Mrs. Annie Lee Rease, of 2608 Coleman Ave., died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Mount Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. Andrew Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Barkcamp Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Rease, a native of Burke County, Ga., was retired as a pastry baker with Pinnacle Club. She was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church, where she was a member of Willing Workers Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Bernice Washington, Augusta; five brothers, Harvey Blandenburg, West Palm Beach, Fla., Kem Williams, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Loyd Williams, Midville, Ga., Johnnie Williams, Waynesboro, Ga., and Jimmie Williams, East Orange, N.J.; eight sisters, Lillie Allen and Lucille Blandenburg, both of Griffin, Ga., Lou Blandenburg, Fort Lauderdale, Naomi Sam, Hollywood, Fla., Lonnie B. Haffendale, West Palm Beach, Corrin Williams, Ocala, Fla., Annie Kate Williams, New York, and Blossie M. Robinson, Elizabeth, N.J.; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Paul Chapel Baptist Church, Ulmer, S.C., with the Rev. J. Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Priester cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Ulmer.

Mrs. Rich, formerly of Ulmer, was a native of Allendale County, S.C. She was a homemaker and a member of Paul Chapel Baptist Church, Ulmer, and Arron Baptist Church, Leesburg.

Survivors include one brother, Garfield Brown Jr., Ulmer; one sister, Ethel Bradley, Ulmer; and three grandchildren.
