Kenneth Mueller
Kenneth Lloyd Mueller, 75, passed away Friday, July 9, 2010.
He was the husband of Lois Mueller of Lake Sinclair.
Mr. Mueller was a native of Cleveland, Ohio. He moved to Lake Sinclair 10 years ago from Jacksonville, Fla.
He was a self-employed licensed contractor and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors also include, three daughters: Lori Weaver, Cheryl Houser, and Debra Ellwood, all of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mr. Mueller was held Monday at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Milton Wood officiating.

Curtis Pope
Curtis Pope of Eatonton passed away Monday, July 12, 2010.
He was the husband of Flora Pope of Eatonton.
Survivors also include a son, Curtis Pope of Monticello; a stepson, Felton Beasley of Eatonton; two brothers, Lonnie L. Pope of Eatonton and Jake Pope of Monticello; three sisters, Linda Breynman, Jane Hulsey and Connie Pope, all of Monticello; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Tuesday at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel. Burial was in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.
Kay Lavender
Kay Lavender, 62, of Eatonton passed away Thursday, July 14, 2010.
Mrs. Lavender was a native of Baldwin County. She had lived in Putnam County since 1989. She was the daughter of the late Ed and Vera Pounds Harrell.
She was the widow of Grover Eugene “Gene” Lavender.
She was an licensed practical nurse for Baldwin County Hospital and was a member of the Eatonton Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include: her children, Angel Johnson and Wayne Johnson, both of Milledgeville, and Coley (Anna) Reese of Macon; sisters Sherrie (Kenneth) Holly, Sheela (O.T.) Pounds, both of Milledgeville, and Betty Jo (Michael) Evelsizer of Illinois; brothers Ronnie (Vera) Irby of Greensboro and James “Bubba” (Rose) Carlo of Michigan; and six grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Saturday at Williams Funeral Home Chapel of Milledgeville. Officiating was the The Rev. Richard Zeller of Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Marshall E. Young
Marshall E. Young, 76, of Waynesboro, formerly of Eatonton, entered into rest Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at his home.
He was the husband of Emily D.G. Young of Waynesboro.
He was born Jan. 13, 1934, in Atlanta to the late Jesse and Mary Young. He was a member of the Putnam County High School Class of 1953.
He was a retired agent with Cotton States Insurance Co.
He was a member of First Baptist Church where his involvements included an adult Sunday school teacher, served as a deacon and on the board of deacons. He was a member of the Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief Team, participated in numerous mission trips, and was a member of the Spares and Pairs Sunday School Class. He also held memberships with the Burke County Board of Health and the Millen Jaycees. He enjoyed woodworking and playing golf.
The Putnam County High School Seniors of 1953 voted Marshall “the Most Athletic, Most Versatile, Most Popular, and the Smartest.” He lived up to those honors and more qualities that were not named. He will truly be missed by all.
Besides his wife, survivors include, a daughter, Marsha Lynn Young; a special granddaughter, Kate Werteoecki; four brothers, Jesse “Jim” Young, William T. (Doris) Young, Bennie T. (Donna) Young, and Roy D.Y. (Cheryl); three stepchildren; two special nieces, Pearl J. Kinlaw and Laura J. White; many other nieces and nephews; and “Little Man,” his miniature toy poodle.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, July 23, at First Baptist Church, Waynesboro, with the Rev. Dr. G. Al Wright Jr. and the Rev. Dr. Todd Ware officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Taylor, Tom Bugg, James Gay, Kevin Boothe, and the Putnam County High School Class of 1953.

William Edward White
William “Bill” Edward White, 76, of Eatonton passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010, at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville.
He was the husband of June Timm White, to whom he was married for 53 years.
Mr. White was born Oct. 3, 1933, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich., in the midst of the Great Depression. His father paid the doctor with hay for his horse and paid the hospital with potatoes. Mr. White’s parents were the late William Arthur “Art” and Mable De Pue White. Growing up, he lived with his family south of Scotts, Mich., on one of the family farms.
Mr. White graduated from Climax High School in 1951 at the age of 17.
After being drafted into the Army in June 1954, he completed his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. He was shipped to Berlin, Germany, in December 1954 and was there until his honorable discharge in May 1956.
When Mr. White returned to the U.S, he met the late June Timm. They were married May 25, 1957. In September, Mr. White began college at Western Michigan University where he studied electrical engineering. In 1959, Mr. White was baptized and began a lifelong membership in the Methodist Church. He also joined the Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycee’s) and was involved in many community activities (car safety and tornado clean up in Elkhart, Ind.). In 1960, he began his very successful structural engineering career.
By 1969, Bill and June had five children: Laura, Jill, twins Bill and Linda, and baby April. In September 1969, he moved the family from Michigan to Harrisonburg, Va. He was responsible for hiring and setting up the drafting department for the new Kawneer plant being built there. In January 1970, he found a home in Broadway, Va., where the family lived until 1977. In Virginia, he was a member of the Lions Club, Elks Club, was a Sunday school teacher and served on the Council of Ministries at the church. In 1979, Mr. White accepted a job Seattle, Wash., and moved the family cross-country. He was very successful in his job, received several promotions, and was assistant plant manager in 1981 when he decided to make a move to Benton, Ken., where he joined Alucabond Co. as its engineering manager. The new job in Kentucky included travel to the St. Louis home office and to job sites in Seattle, Denver, Atlanta, South America, Puerto Rico and Trinidad, which he enjoyed immensely. In 1987, Mr. White accepted a job in Dallas, Texas, with CDC Inc. as a consultant, then moved to join the Reynolds Metals team in Atlanta as the engineering manager. In 1992, Mr. White moved to Indianapolis to take another job.
After being laid off on his 62nd birthday in October 1995 due to company cutbacks, he decided to retire, and he and June moved to Eatonton to live in their retirement cottage on Lake Sinclair. In 1998, Mr. White came out of retirement to take another job. He worked as a receptionist until hip pain curtailed the work in 2005. In 2006, he had hip replacement surgery with a very bad outcome leading to five years of further surgeries, physical therapy, hospital visits and spent his final two years of life at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville.
Survivors besides his wife are: a son, Bill (Cindy) White of Mountlake Terrace, Wash.; four daughters, Laura Litten of Woodbridge, Va., Jillian (Doug) Chandler of Lynnwood, Wash., Linda (Reza) Zarei of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and April (Robert) Lyons of Kentucky; and seven grandchildren, Bill, Mitch, Dean, Deanna, Joey, Patrick and William.
A memorial service was held Tuesday morning at the Eatonton First United Methodist Church, In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eatonton First United Methodist Church, 103 W. Magnolia St., Eatonton 31024.
Anna Elfriede (Scholz) Pomeroy
Anna Elfriede (Scholz) Pomeroy, 76, of Milledgeville passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010, at her home.
Mrs. Pomeroy moved to Georgia in 1966 after meeting and marrying Bobby Joe Pomeroy, who was enlisted in the Air Force in Germany. She retired from Robins Air Force Base after 23 years of service as an electrician working on F-15s. Mrs. Pomeroy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 20 years. Survivors include daughter Ursula Flournoy of Milledgeville; stepdaughter Pam (David) Gaskin of Arkansas; grandchildren Christy Knorr of Nebraska, Nicole Lambroff of Milledgeville, Jessica and David Gaskin; great-grandchildren Kymberli Cerci, Ian Howell, Allyssa Cantrell-Howell, Dominic Garrett and Jackson Lambroff. A memorial services for Mrs. Pomeroy will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at Williams Funeral Home of Eatonton. The family will receive friends at the funeral nome on Saturday from noon until the service hour. In place of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association or the American Diabetes Association. Arthur Lee Aikens
Arthur Lee Aikens, 60, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2010.
He was born June 9, 1950, the late John and Olies Aikens.
"Bud," as he was affectionately called by family and friends, received his education in the Putnam County school system. He accepted Christ at an early age. "Bud" will always be remembered by his family and friends as being very funny and friendly. He enjoyed fishing and dancing and will truly be missed by everyone who loved and knew him.
Those left to mourn his passing, yet celebrate his life include: devoted children Daryl (Krista) Evan, Carla Evans, Felicia Evans, Arthur Lee Dennis, Dametric Dennis and Shafrakeena Aikens; two sisters: Mattie Humphries and Anna Aikens; two brothers: Curtis Aikens and George Aikens; one aunt: Bessie Burston; seven grandchildren: Markenique Evans, Titiana Napier, Tykerria Evans, Jamell Brown, Di Joneá Reid, Syria Evans and Tyler Hunter; devoted nieces and nephews: Cheryl Collins Sandra Reid, Gloria Denham, John Denham, Willie Denham; special friend: Diane Monday; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by four sisters: Pauline Burke, Ann Mathis, Sarah Aikens, and Leola Denham; four brothers: Jim Aikens, Marshall Aikens, Tommy Lee Aikens and Johnny Aikens; one nephew: Bennie Humphries; and one niece: Martha Denham.
The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 574 Glades Road in Eatonton. The Rev. Lewis Parham officiated. Mr. Aiken's nephews were pallbearers; and nieces and great-nieces were the flower bearers. Repast was held at the Senior Citizens Center.
David R. Koch
David R. Koch, 69, of Eatonton, died Friday, July 23, 2010.
He was born in 1940 in Pennsylvania.
A grave-side service was held Sunday, July 29, at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Chris Webb officiated.
The Vining Ivy Hill Chapel, 105 Lower Harmony Road, Eatonton, was in charge of arrangements.
Carlin Wooten Griffin
Carlin Wooten Griffin, 67, of Milledgeville and Lake Sinclair passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Eatonton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was the wife of Robert Griffin of Lake Sinclair.
Mrs. Griffin was a native of Rochelle, Ga., the daughter of the late Marvin R. and Azilee Peacock Wooten.
She had made her home in Milledgeville for most of her life, and had lived at Lake Sinclair for the past six years. Mrs. Griffin was retired from Rheem Manufacturing. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Leigh Anne (Joey) Ford of Cumming; a son, Keith (Tiphanie) Ford of Eatonton; sisters Jimmie McCarthy of Savannah, Dorothy Cleland of Milledgeville, Lillian Culver of Sparta, Maude Dell Hibbard of Eatonton and Gloria Melton of Williamsburg, Va.; brothers Donald Wooten and Sammy Wooten of Eatonton; and three grandchildren, Jamie, Olivia and Katelyn Ford.
She was predeceased by a siste,r JoAnn Clay, and brothers James Wooten and Homer Wooten.
The funeral service was Saturday morning at Williams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenny Walker officiating. Interment was in Eatonton Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Tinker Wooten, Steve Melton, Danny Clay, Tony Wooten, Roger Culver, John Bryan McCarthy, Brent Wooten, Brian Wooten, Bubba Wooten, Jonathan Anderson, Jeremy McDermitt and Ben Melton

Bonnie Marie McShan Dalton
Bonnie Marie McShan Dalton, 66, of Eatonton died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
She was the wife of Toby Dalton of Eatonton.
Mrs. Dalton was born Aug. 21, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Clifton Loyd McShan and Viola Beatrice Green McShan.
She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas in 1962 and the North Texas State University in 1966 with a degree in early childhood education. She received a master’s in education and specialist degree from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Miss. She began her teaching career in elementary school in Mississippi, and she taught in Arkansas and Oklahoma. She then sold real estate in Mississippi until her retirement in 1991.
She married Tolbert Marion “Toby” Dalton on May 11, 1991, and lived in Dallas.
In 2003, they moved to Eatonton. She was an active and devoted member of Grace Fellowship of Greensboro, where she was past prayer chairman of the Community Bible Study and was also a part of the team of ladies that led bible study in the Greene County Jail. Throughout her life she was a devoted teacher and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend and follower of Jesus Christ.
Besides her husband, survivors include: three daughters, Amy Knight (Daniel) Doherty of Suwanee, Julianne Dalton (Phillip) Keil of Denton, Texas, and Audrey Dalton (Samuel) Sequenzia of Dallas; two sons, Michael Alan (Hope) Knight Jr. of Cumming and John T. (Tonya) Dalton of Dallas; a sister, Doris Jo McShan (Bob) Coats of Irving, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Hannah Doherty, Andrew Doherty, Emma Doherty, Emily Tomczyk, Daniel J. Tomczyk, Judson Sequenzia, Kinsey Knight, Mak Knight, Jack Dalton and Kate Dalton; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A celebration of her life was held Sunday at Grace Fellowship Church with the Rev. Dr. Jimmy A. Long officiating.
