CANON, Ga. - Mr. Robert Andrew Floyd, 80, of 313 Andrew Floyd Road, Canon, Ga., died Sunday, April 24, 2005 at Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston, Ga.
Mr. Floyd was born in Hart County, Ga., October 15, 1924, son of the late Clayton and Bessie Weaver Floyd. He was a farmer and member of the Old Canon Baptist Church and attended the Redwine United Methodist Church. Mr. Floyd was a United States Veteran having served during World War II.
Survivors include: wife, Bonnie Floyd of Canon, Ga.; daughters, Joan Floyd Whiting and Revonda Floyd Turner, both of Canon, Ga.; son-in-law, Ricky Tyner of Canon, Ga.; grandchildren, Jason Andrew Whiting, Allison Joan Whiting, Macale Olivia Tybner, Jason Tyner and Stephanie Ring; great-grandchildren, Madiosn Tyner and Colin Tyner; brothers, Mack Floyd and Jerry Floyd, both of Royston, Ga. and Donald Floyd of Canon, Ga.; sister, Pearl Beggs of Royston, Ga.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Roscoe, Hugh & Gene Floyd; and 2 sisters, Ruth Wansley and Ida Hunnicutt.
Funeral Services for Mr. Floyd will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Martha Dye officiating. Burial will follow in the Redwine United Methodist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.
The body is at the Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, Ga., where the family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Monday Evening. The family is at the home.

Oct. 16, 1931 - April 24, 2005
TOCCOA, Ga. - Beck Addison, 73, 1012 Smith Road, died Sunday, April 24, 2005 at his home.
Born in Franklin County, he had lived most of his life in Stephens County. He served in the U. S. Navy and retired from Milliken and Company. He was a member of the V. F. W. Post 4346. He was the son of the late Doyle W. Addison.
Surviving are his mother, Eva Chitwood Addison of Toccoa; sons, Danny Addison of Martin, Mike Addison of Toccoa and Doug Addison of Manchester, Tenn.; daughters, Deborah Mashburn and Pam Addison, both of Toccoa; sisters, Euline Johnson and Ophelia Fulbright, both of Toccoa; brothers, Melvin Addison of Martin and Artis Addison of Easley; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Burchel Addison and Blant Addison; and one grandson, Brandon Addison.
Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Whitlock Mortuary by the Revs. Jerrell Beatty and Andy Childs. Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens with military honors by V. F. W. Post 4346.
The family is at the home of Mrs. Eva Addison on Mize Road and will receive friends at the mortuary from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.

HARTWELL, Ga. - Claudia B. Simpson Jones, 80, of 278 Plum Creek Road, died Sunday, April 24, 2005 at Atlanta Medical Center, Atlanta.

Nov. 19, 1930 - April 24, 2005
CLAYTON, Ga. - Delo Kilby, 74, of Persimmon Road in the Persimmon Community, Rt. 2, died Sunday, April 24, 2005 at his home.
Born in Rabun County, he had spent his life in Rabun County. He was the son of the late Caney and Beulah Frady Kilby. He was employed in the textile industry for 35 years and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are widow, Dorothy Hopkins Kilby of the home; sons, Terry Kilby and Tommy Kilby, both of Clayton; daughter, Janice Lovell of Clayton; brother, Ronald Kilby of Waynesville, N.C.; sister, Zanie Mae Cook of Waynesville, N.C.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Kilby; three brothers, Lavosher Kilby, James Kilby and Ray Kilby; and sisters, Zoie Kilby and Zettie Kilby.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Liberty Baptist Church by the Revs. Alton Dendy and Charleie Hopkines; burial will be in the Persimmon cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery. The body is at Hunter Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

JIMMY CARTER
June 28, 1930 - April 24, 2005
MARTIN, Ga. - James Ray 'Jimmy' Carter, 74, of 200 N. Clarks Creek Road, widower of Dorothy Cothran Carter, died Sunday, April 24, 2005 at Toccoa Nursing Center.
He was the son of the late Albert and Carlene (Davis) Carter. He was retired from General Motors as a supervisor of Shipping and Receiving. He was a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, serving in the Army during the Korean War. He was an active member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, working with the tape ministry delivering tapes to shut-ins. He was also a former treasurer and deacon at the church.
Surviving are son, Faron Carter of Snellville; daughter, Delinda Carter of Villa Rica; sisters, Wynelle Cobb of Conyers and Kathryn Pickern of Lavonia; brothers, Davis and Talmadge Carter, both of Lavonia; and two granddaughters.
Services are at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church; burial will follow in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery. Dr. Ross Layne Jr., Dr. Doug Ferguson and the Rev. Bill Stacey will officiate. The body is at Hamby Funeral Home, Lavonia, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

MARTIN, Ga. - Lowe Daniel Walker, 63, of Martin, died Friday, April 22, 2005 in Simpsonville at the home of a son.
Born February 3, 1942 in Stephens County, he was a son of the late William Dewey and Marie Louise Kelley Walker. He was a self-employed welder. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Surviving are widow, Ingeborg Rostel Walker of the home; daughter, Natascha Maria Elvira Judson of Heidelberg, Germany; sons, Christopher Daniel Walker of Russellville, Ark., George Anthony Walker of Simpsonville and Norman Hugo Walker of San Diego, Calif.; brothers, Isaac Lee Walker of Toccoa, Wayman Duris Walker of Cummin, David Martin Walker of Canton, William Lando Walker of Milner, Clifton Richard Walker of Cartersville, Joel Brogdon Walker of Athens, Rollo Ramey Walker of Martin and Keith Singer Walker of Lavonia; sisters, Launa B. Frahm of Smyrna, Sylvia Juanita Raudszus of Portland, Oreg., Cora Marie Cole of Atlanta and Mary Lizzie Hardwick of Dunwoody; and seven grandchildren.

'BILLY' RAMEY
TOCCOA, GA. -- William Paul "Billy" Ramey Jr., 25, of 5173 Williams Circle, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005, at his residence.
He was the son of Marvalea Ivester Ramey and the late William Paul Ramey Sr. He was born on February 6, 1980, in Stephens County where he lived all his life. He was employed with John's Roofing in Toccoa and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Cheek Ramey of the home, his mother, Marvalea Ivester Ramey of Toccoa; stepfather, Terry Cordell of Toccoa; daughters, Kaitlin Ramey and Alyssa Ramey, both of the home; sisters, Latrice Brigman of Candler, N.C., Zebbera Rennie of Naples, Fla., Donna Smith of Pickens, S.C., and Joyce Carter of Toccoa; brothers, Aaron Ramey of Pisgah Forest, N.C., Eddie Wiley of Toccoa, and Kevin Wiley of Cornelia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 Sunday from the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Revs. Geter Owens and Truitt Phillips officiating.

'DON' SCHELL
HARTWELL, GA. -- Donald Edward "Don" Schell Jr., 51, of 347 U.S. 29 B., died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005.
Born on June 21, 1954, in Harrisburg, Penn., he was the son of the late Donald Edward Schell, Sr., and Doris Nicholson Schell. He was a member of Milltown Baptist Church.
His survivors include his sisters, Mildred Cassatt of Harrisburg and Deborah Schell and Geraldine Wilt, both of Hartwell.
The body was cremated.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday at 5 p.m. at Milltown Baptist Church. The Rev. Ken Brewer will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service.

CANON, GA. -- John Wendall McCollum, 65, of 274 Rockdale Road died Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at his home.

JUDY DEFOOR
CANON, GA. -- Judy Maxine DeFoor, 53, of Currahee Ridge Road died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born on Aug. 8, 1952, in Stephens County, she was the daughter of Jewell Elrod DeFoor and the late Alex DeFoor. She was employed by D & E Properties in Motor Vehicle Sales. She was a member of Eastanollee Baptist Church and was a Girl Scout leader.
Surviving are her mother of Toccoa; daughter, Danielle DeFoor of Canon; sisters, JoAnn Whitworth and Lavonne McConnell, both of Toccoa; and brothers, George DeFoor and Doug DeFoor, both of Toccoa.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alex DeFoor; a brother, Harry James DeFoor; and sisters, Peggy Whitlock and Barbara Royals.
Services are at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Whitlock Mortuary in Toccoa by the Revs. Richard Ivester and Levy Moore; burial will follow at Eastanolle Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.
The family will be at the home of Joe and JoAnn Whitworth on Davis Road and received friends at the mortuary from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

LEON MURPHY
TOCCOA, GA. -- Leon Murphy, 73, of 146 Robin Place died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, at his residence.
He was the son of the late Paul and Minnie Lee Murphy. He was born on May 29, 1932, in Oconee County and had lived most of his life in Stephens County. He worked with LeTourneau/WABCO for a number of years and later worked with Elijah State Park for a number of years. He attended Mountain View Church of God. He was preceded in death by his wife, Buna Burnette Murphy.
Surviving are daughters Renee Curtis, Joyce Fultz and Trenna Powers, all of Toccoa and Teresa Madrigal of Clarkesville; son, Robert Murphy of Toccoa; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie Bell Davis and Genieve Gibby, both of Toccoa, Lizzie Grant of Salem, Minnie Lee Adams and Pauline Phillips, both of Westminster; and a brother, Albert "Buster" Murphy of Westminster.
Services are at 3 p.m. Wednesday from the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home by the Revs. Shannon Owens and Edward Hood. Interment will be in the Old Liberty Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

W.L. SMITH
CLAYTON, GA. -- W.L. "Lloyd" Smith, 90, of Valley St., died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, in Douglasville, Ga.
Born in Rabun County on March 4, 1915, he was the son of the late Augustus Lyons Smith Sr. and Pearl Turpin Smith. He was a Gulf Oil Distributor for many years; a past president of Clayton Lion Club; a World War II Army veteran and member of the American Legion; and a member of Clayton Baptist Church for 45-plus years, where he was a member of the Friendship Sunday school class and served as secretary-treasurer for many years.
Surviving are widow, Clara Ramey Smith of the home; son, Don Smith of Smyrna; daughter, Jane Adams of Clayton; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Augustus L. Smith Jr. of Virginia; and a sister, Geraldine Jarrett of Clayton.
Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Clayton Baptist Church by the Rev. Mike Campbell; burial will be in Rabun Memory Park. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hunter Funeral Home.
