DECATUR - Services for W. Hugh Bassett will be at 2 p.m. Monday in A.S. Turner and Sons with burial in Decatur Cemetery. Bassett died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Wilder Bassett of Decatur; son William Hugh of Snellville; daughter Yvonne B. Bouras of Lilburn; brothers Jack T. Bassett of Decatur and Paul T. Bassett of Richmond, Va.; niece Patsy Turner of Forsyth; and three grandchildren.

Ruthie Coleman
DETROIT - Services for Ruthie M. Stubbs Coleman will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Fellowship Bible Church, Warner Robins, with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Coleman, 83, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, in Grace Sinai Hospital, Detroit, Mich. The daughter of the late Eugene and Willer Stubbs, she was a Houston County native.

Survivors include her daughter Katherine Pullen of Detroit, Mich.; brother and sisters Willie Stubbs of Warner Robins, Gladys S. Davis of Macon and Ruby S. Vining of Lizella; 10 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. The family may be contacted at 6309 Glen Holly Drive, Lizella. James H. Cole has charge of arrangements in Detroit and Richardson and Sons has charge of arrangements in Warner Robins.

Johnnie B. Cummings
TENNILLE - Services for Johnnie B. Cummings will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Warthen, with burial in the church cemetery. Cummings, 62, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at the Sparta Health Care Center. She was a housekeeper and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Marvin Cummings of Tennille, Jeffery Cummings and Tracy Cummings, both of Sandersville; brothers, Jimmy Cummings and Jimmy Cummings, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., Ashley Cummings of Atlanta and Jared Harris of Tennille; sisters, Murids Washington and Martha Cummings, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., Brenda Lee Harris and Elizabeth Harris, both of Tennille; and three grandchildren.

M.C. Smith Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Elbert Davis Jr.
COCHRAN - Services for Elbert Davis Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lakeview Baptist Church with burial in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Garden. Davis, 54, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A native of Bleckley County, he was the son of the late Elbert Davis Sr. Davis lived in the Atlanta area for 25 years before moving back to Cochran three years ago. He was a heavy equipment operator, a former deputy sheriff for DeKalb County and a former security officer for Meldisco in Jonesboro. Davis was a member of Peoples Baptist Church in Jonesboro and attended Lakeview Baptist Church in Cochran.

Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Davis of Phenix City, Ala.; sons, Richard Davis of Phenix City, Ala., Joseph Davis and Daniel Davis, both of Columbus; mother, Evelyn Beck Davis of Cochran; sister, Jeanette Rismiller of Marietta; and 11 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mathis Funeral Home. The family may be contacted at the Davis residence, 115 Larryton Drive, Pinelevel Subdivision, Cochran.

Doris Nash Duggan
Services for Doris Nash Duggan will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pine Forest Baptist Church with burial in Macon Memorial Park. Duggan, 74, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, in a local hospital. Born in Dodge County, she was the daughter of the late C. Roscoe and Thelma Burch Nash. Duggan was the widow of Mell L. Duggan. She was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class, the Senior Adult Group and the Heavenly Harmony Choir. Duggan was the former financial secretary at Christ Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Melba Mimbs of Macon, Karen Gilbert of Roswell and Gail Barton of Macon; son, Barry Duggan of Macon; sisters, Geraldine Stanley of Chauncey and Wanda Cranford of Eastman; brothers, Burch Nash of Chauncey and Charles Nash of Athens; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. The family may be contacted at 2297 Green Wood Court. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry St., Macon 31201, or the American Lung Association, 2452 Spring Road, Smyrna 30080.

Helen Mae Fountain
GORDON - Services and burial for Helen Mae Fountain were private. Fountain, 74, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at The Medical Center of Central Georgia. The widow of Walter Harold Fountain Sr., she was a lifelong resident of Wilkinson County and attended Asbury Methodist Church. She was a retired employee of McGall Labs in Milledgeville.

Survivors include her daughters, Carol Etheridge and Judy Lawson, both of Macon; son, Walter Fountain Jr. of Gordon; stepdaughter, Linda Davis of Milledgeville; brother, Edd Lawver of Connellsville, Pa.

Memorial contributions may be made to Asbury Methodist Church, Gordon, the Vineville Baptist Church building fund or the American Cancer Society. Gordon Memorial Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Charles Emory Garrett
AMERICUS - Services for Charles Emory Garrett will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Garrett, 70, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany. He was retired from the U.S. Army and was a salesman for Sheffield Hardware and worked many years for Cooper Lighting. Garrett was a member of Benevolence United Methodist Church, M.B. Council Lodge No. 13 F&AM, the V.F.W. and the Sumter Shrine Club, where he was president.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth W. Garrett of Americus; daughter Louise McCrary of Americus; sons Darrell Tucker, Johnny Hanks, Dicky Harbuck, all of Americus, and Tim Harbuck of Athens; brother Bob Garrett Jr. of Bishop, Calif.; sisters Beatrice Lloyd of Americus and Betty Miller of Lake Blakeshear; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Shriners Burn Unit Hospital.

Johnnie Gladney
VIENNA - Services for Johnnie Donatavious Lamar Gladney will be at 11 a.m. today in the Vienna City Cemetery. The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Wade Gladney, he died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, in Crisp Regional Hospital.

Other survivors include sisters Kedra Felton of Vienna and JaRay Gladney of Virginia; brothers Royce Stubbin Jr. and Marquise Stubbin, both of Vienna; grandparents Allene Felton and Housiea Sanders, both of Vienna.

Alvie Coes Funeral Home, Unadilla, has charge of arrangements.

Judson Hobbs
Graveside services for Judson Cleveland Hobbs will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Macon Memorial Park. Hobbs, 62, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, in a local hospital. He was the son of the late Ezra and Annie Mixon Hobbs. A native of Dooly County, he had lived in Macon for the past 40 years. Hobbs was a retired senior operations analyst for the Macon District Postal Services.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Hobbs of Macon; daughter, Kimberly Patat of Macon; son, Kyle Hobbs of Lawrenceville; brothers, Mixon Hobbs, Royce Hobbs and Duane Hobbs, all of Cordele; sisters, Nancy Mathis of Cordele, Barbara Doster of Pinehurst and Linda Rogers of Mobile, Ala.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the the residence, 2355 Silver Pines Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 2065, Macon 31203, and Hospice of Central Georgia. Snow's Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Lillie Jones
Services for Lillie Belle Jones will be at noon Wednesday at St. Luke Baptist Church with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Jones, 84, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000. Born in Twiggs County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Lewis and Laura Hughes Lewis. The widow of Zade Jones, she was a retired seamstress of more than 25 years with Joseph -N- Neels Clothing Store. Jones was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Frances Harper of Macon; eight grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

The family may be contacted at 2806 Hinsley Ave. Jones Brothers Eastlawn Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Pauline Knight
DUBLIN - Graveside services for Pauline "Poggy" Brantley Knight will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Knight, 85, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, in a Dublin hospital. A native of Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester Fred Beasley and Lillie Herring Beasley. Knight lived most of her life in Dublin. She was retired from the Eckerd Co. and was the widow of the late John R. Knight.

Survivors include her children Gaye Griffin of Ellijay, Carol Robinson and Jack W. Brantley, both of Dublin, Jon Michael Brantley of West Melbourne, Fla.; sisters Mrs. Lee Palmer of Dublin and Mrs. Preston Rose of Marietta; brother Chandler Beasley of Dublin; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family may be contacted at 107 Vernon St., Dublin. Townsend Brothers Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Marcus O'Neal
DUBLIN - Services for Marcus C. "Bubber" O'Neal will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with burial in Dublin Memorial Gardens. O'Neal, 84, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000. A native of Toombs County, he was the son of the late Walter Thomas O'Neal and the late Viola Rowland O'Neal. He was a longtime resident of Dublin and the former owner and operator of Dublin Jewelry. O'Neal was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of Laurens Lodge 75 F&AM; the Grand Council of Royal and Select Master Masons of Georgia, Dublin #12; the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Georgia, Harmony Lodge #12. O'Neal was a Baptist. He was the widower of Myrtle Carter O'Neal.

Survivors include his brothers James Hubert O'Neal and Jack O'Neal, both of Brunswick.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Tuesday night at funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Spurgeon E. Pounds
MILLEDGEVILLE - Services for Spurgeon Ellis Pounds will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with burial in Baldwin Memorial Gardens. Pounds, 77, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, in Gibson. The son of the late Spurgeon Franklin and Willie Pearl Smith Pounds, he was a Hancock County native but lived in Milledgeville most of his life. Pounds was a former chaplain of Rivers State Prison. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Pounds was owner of Midway Cab Co. and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include his wife, Carrie B. Collins Pounds of Milledgeville; daughters Madelyn P. Chalker of Mitchell, Sheela P. Pounds and Jan P. Dominy, both of Milledgeville; sons James H. Pounds of Milledgeville and Kevin D. Pounds of Mitchell; sister Gladys Pounds of Milledgeville; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Williams White Columns Funeral Home from 6 to 8 tonight.

Snelling Roberts
PINEHURST - Services for Snelling Roberts will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pinehurst Baptist Church with burial in Pinehurst City Cemetery. Roberts, 91, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, in a local hospital. A lifelong resident of Dooly County, he was the son of the late George William Roberts Sr. and Effie Snelling Roberts. He was a member of Pinehurst Baptist Church where he was a deacon and a former Sunday school teacher. Roberts was a former member of the Pinehurst Board of Education and the Dooly County Board of Education. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and was a member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn W. Roberts of Pinehurst; children Bill Roberts of Reseda, Calif., Patsy R. Ponder of Lilburn, Carol R. Yeager of Newnan, Diane R. Cooper of Tampa, Fla., and Mary R. Branch of Pinehurst; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 tonight at Bowen-NeSmith Funeral Home, Unadilla. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pinehurst Baptist Church, P.O. Box 157, Pinehurst 31070 or to the donor's choice.
