Janice Marie Halstead
Janice Marie Halstead, age 54 of Rex, Georgia, passed away March 30, 2009. She was born
in Gadsden, Alabama to Gene Edward Sexton and the late Ettma Marie Baldwin Sexton. She was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Ray Sexton and a niece, Angela Bethune. Janice attended the Locust Grove Pentecostal Church, enjoyed decorating for all holidays and gardening. Other than being the No. 1 Beatles’ fan, Janice enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, panda bears and the beach. Janice enjoyed life and spending time at Tybee Island. She was a very caring and loving person and will be missed by her family and friends.
Survivors other than her father are a daughter, Michelle (Greg) Diehl of McDonough; life partner, Tim Jackson of Ellenwood; sisters, Dorothy Sheffield of Covington and Kay (Greg) Sanders of Dewey Rose; brother, Calvin Sexton of Lavonia; numerous nieces and nephews.

Hal Chapman Smith
Hal Chapman Smith, age 73, of Locust Grove, Georgia, passed away on April 1, 2009. He was an active member of St. Joseph's Episcopal Church. He was known by many as "Uncle Sam" of "Uncle Sam's Sand Art." He brightened the days of many young children with his big smile and laughter as he helped them decorate their sand bottles at local arts festivals. Preceding him in death is his wife, Barbara Smith.
Survivors include his son, Hal C. Smith of Cumming; daughter, Deborah D. Salter of Hendersonville, North Carolina; granddaughters, Brandy L. Seyller, South Carolina, and Shannon S. Mace, North Carolina; great grandsons, Noah B. Seyller, Emery J. Seyller, and Noah M. Mace. Memorial services were held at St. Joseph's Episcopal Church in McDonough on April 3. Cremation Society of the South at Eagle's Landing.
George Holcombe, Jr.
George Holcombe, Jr. age 77 of Stockbridge, Georgia passed away on April 1, 2009. Mr. Holcombe is preceded in death by his son Ricky Holcombe, 5 sisters and 1 brother.
Mr. Holcombe is survived by his wife Jean Holcombe, daughters Vickie (Travis) Todd, Sherry Holcombe, sons Micky (Daisy) Holcombe, Toney (Tonie) Hol-combe, grandchildren Jackie Holcombe, Melissa Black, Kelly Todd, Zachary Holcombe, Jeremy Todd; and sister Jackie Woodson.

Rev. Robert Blackwood
Rev. Robert Blackwood, age 85, of Stockbridge, Georgia, died April 2, 2009. He was born
in Dora, Alabama, to the late Robert E. and Arena Tester Adair Blackwood. He received an MBA at LSU and a Masters Degree in Education at the University of Illinois and taught at Lee University, LSU and Georgia State. Rev. Blackwood started his career in business in the insurance industry with Aetna Casualty and Coastal States. He was called to the ministry and ordained in the Church of God in Cleveland, Tennessee. He also pastored churches in Lafayette, LaGrange, Morrow, Mobile, Alabama, and Clarkesville, Tennessee over a period of 29 years.
Rev. Blackwood is survived by his wife, Gayle Blackwood, McDonough; sons, R. Adair (BJ) Blackwood, Jr, Augusta, Ed (Kim) Blackwood, Jonesboro, Lincoln (Lisa) Blackwood, Clarkesville, Dana (Dawn) Blackwood, McDonough; sisters, Mary Elsie Powell, Fayetteville, Kathryn Samples, Roswell; and 7 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held April 4 at The Landing (Church Of God) with Dr. Richard Dillingham officiating. Interment at Sherwood Memorial Park. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors.
Billy Jack Pruitt
Billy Jack Pruitt, age 73 of McDonough, Georgia, passed away April 3, 2009. He was born
in Gadsden, Alabama, to the late Junious Lloyd and Nettie Cleo Lyons Pruitt. He served his country in the United States Navy, retired after 32 years with Delta Airlines, was a member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church and the Masons. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary Pruitt of McDonough; sons, Jeff (Angie) Pruitt of McDonough, Richard (Tracy) Pruitt of Manchester, Tennessee; grandchildren, Brandon (Jamie) Pruitt, Justin, Jackie and Emily Pruitt, Emily Sego and Kimberly Vazquez; great-grandson, Tanner Pruitt; brothers, Lloyd (Peggy) Pruitt of Abbeville, Alabama, Jerry (Brenda) Pruitt of Gadsden, Alabama.

Patricia Ann Taylor Owen
Patricia Ann Taylor Owen, age 68, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away April 3, 2009. She was born
in Atlanta to the late Jay and Katherine Blankenship Taylor and was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne Coolidge. She was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church, had worked for Bellsouth, and enjoyed collecting Madame Alexander dolls.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Bill Owen of McDonough; daughter, Genie Richardson (Derek) Barber of McDonough; grandchildren, Jordan and William Richardson, Jeremy and Grace Barber; sister, Kay (Tom) Lee of Virginia; brother, Jay (Tina) Taylor of Alabama; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 7, at the Chap-el of Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Henderson and Rev.

Rev. Luther George Grice
Rev. Luther George "Boots" Grice, age 56, of Locust Grove, Georgia, died April 4, 2009. He was born
in Moultrie to the late Rev. L. G. and Ethel Hicks Grice, Sr. Mr. Grice was an Ordained Minister since 1996 at Missionary Church International.
Mr. Grice is survived by his spouse, Gail; son, Bryan and Melissa Grice, McDonough; daughter, Brandie Roach, Locust Grove; sister, Rev. Martha Grice, Waycross; and 6 Grandchildren.
