Hoyt N. Disharoon, 90, of Dawsonville died Monday, November 25, 2002 at the Lanier Park Hospital in Gainesville following a short illness.
A lifelong resident of Dawson County, Mr. Disharoon was a retired poultry farmer and was a member of Juno Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Alice Disharoon; parents, John and Ora Disharoon; and a brother, Clyde Disharoon. Survivors include daughters Marie Disharoon of Dawsonville and Elvie Mooney of Dahlonega; sons Curtis Disharoon of Dawsonville, Marcus Disharoon of Dawsonville; sisters Ophie Dodd of Buford, Mary Reed of Dawsonville, and Louise Vaughters of Dawsonville; sister-in-law Oletta Disharoon of Dawsonville; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Phillip Burt officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Loyd Gaddis

Loyd Gaddis, 80, of Dawsonville died Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at Chestnut Ridge Nursing Center in Cumming following an extended illness.
Born in Lumpkin County, he lived most of his life in the Dawson-Forsyth County area. Mr. Gaddis retired from Lockheed after 27 years of service.
He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his sisters, Edna Gaddis and Bessie Heath and brothers, Royce Gaddis and Russell Gaddis.
Survivors include sisters Gracie Lou Ray, Annie Maude Gayton, Annette Carnes, all of Dawsonville; brothers Junior Gaddis of Waleska, Edd Gaddis and James Gaddis, both of Dawsonville, and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 29, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Revs. Vernie Worley and Rodney Pilcher will officiate. Interment was held in the Four Mile Baptist Church cemetery.
William F. ‘Bill’ Pearce

William F. “Bill” Pearce, 49, of Moultrie, Ga., died Friday, November 29, 2002 at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Pearce was born
September 16, 1953 in Stillwater, Oklahoma and lived in East Tennessee, Florida, Ohio, and Kentucky before his family moved to Statesboro, Ga. He graduated from Statesboro High School in 1971 and attended Georgia Southern College as a Criminal Justice major for three years. His first position as a police officer was in Portal, Ga. His last position was Police Chief of Coolidge, Ga. In his 20 odd years in public service he worked as a deputy sheriff and as a police officer in several towns in Georgia including Dawsonville, Bloomingdale, Buena Vista, Barwick, Pavo, Riverdale, and Savannah. He was also an officer at Agnes Scott College. He was also trained as an EMT and served several towns as fire fighter. He was extremely proud of being a public servant and one of his regrets was that his cancer kept him from ever being a police officer again.
As a teenager and college student Bill played guitar and sang at every chance, displaying the musical talent.
He is survived by his mother, Dr. Doris P. Pearce, associate professor emerita of Georgia Southern University; wife, Gaile Wigington Pearce, formerly of Dawsonville, and four children and their spouses Stephanie and Charlie Welch of Dahlonega, Becky and Brad Garmon of Cumming, Nathan and Vickie Cooke of Dawsonville, Carnell and Pam Ray of Cumming; 14 grandchildren; sister, Dale Pearce of Statesboro; and nephew, James Whirley. Bill’s father, Ralph James Pearce preceded him in death. His aunts, uncles and cousins live in North Carolina, Tennessee, Pennsylvania , and Florida.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday, December 2, 2002, at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega with the Revs. Wendell Thompson and and Jack Leaman officiating. Interment will follow in Dahlonega Memorial Park.
A memorial service is planned in mid December in Statesboro with time and place to be announced at a later date. Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Ford E. ‘Nancy’ Phillips

Mrs. Ford E. “Nancy” Phillips, 90, of Cumming died Sunday, December 1, 2002 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville following an extended illness. Born in Dawson County, Mrs. Phillips lived all her life in the Dawson-Forsyth County area.
A homemaker, she was a member of Concord Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Ford E. Phillips and a grandson, Richard Anderson.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law Sara Hughes, and Bobby and Ann Anderson, all of Dawsonville; son, James “Jim” Phillips of Ormond Beach, Fla.; sisters-in-law Vera Hursey of Dawsonville, and Ollie Gazaway of Cumming; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at Concord Baptist Church. The Rev. Rubin Smith and Dr. Jimmy Orr will officiate. Interment in the church cemetery.
Dorothy G. Gentry

Dorothy G. Gentry, 72 of Dawsonville died Sunday, December 1, 2002 at the Mountain Healthcare Center in Jasper, following a extended illness.
Mrs. Gentry was lifelong resident of Dawson County. She retired from Sweet Orr with more than 30 years of service and was a member of Amicalola Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Gentry and parents, Joseph and Lourain Chumbley.
Survivors include son Brad Gentry of Dawsonville; sisters Bonnie Thurmond of Dawsonville, Beulah Thacker of Tate, Lois Kellar of Stockbridge, and Winnie Smith of Dawsonville; brother Grover Chumbley of Marble Hill; sisters-in-law Mamie Goode and Bonnie Gentry, both of Dawsonville. Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Amicalola Baptist Church. The Revs. Lawton Burt and Dean Pugh will officiate. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.
Clyne C. Chamblee

Clyne C. Chamblee, 66, of Roswell died Thursday, November 28, 2002 at the Roswell Nursing Center following an extended illness.
Born in Hall County, he lived most of his life in Gwinnett County. Disabled for many years, he was a former carpenter and worked in used car sales.
Mr. Chamblee was preceded in death by his son, David Chamblee; parents, Hodge and Stella Chamblee; a sister and three brothers.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Ted Bearden of Dawsonville; sisters, Vivian Smith of Cornelia, Gwen McClain of Clarkesville; brother Doug Chamblee of Monroe; and grandsons James Bearden and Wesley Bearden. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Phillip Burt will officiate. Interment in the Dawsonville City Cemetery. Betty V. Bragg

Mrs. Betty V. Bragg, age 76 of Cumming, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2002. Mrs. Bragg was a member of Cumming First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Frank Bragg, children, Timothy Bragg and Nancy Bragg.
Survivors include children Cheryl and Duane Hood of Cumming, Stephen and Pam Bragg of Dawsonville; grandchildren Deborah Johnson of Cumming, Chad Bragg of Dawsonville, Dee Gravitt and Chuck Bragg, both of Cumming, Lynsey Bragg of Dawsonville, Joseph Bragg, Warner Robbins and Kayla Bragg, all of Dawsonville; great grandchildren Ashley Bragg, Stephanie Bragg, Issac Bragg, Carter Gravitt, all of Cumming; sister Colene Schmid of Bridgeport, Conn.; nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Marvin D. Burnett

Marvin D. Burnett, 82, of Dawsonville died Thursday, November 28, 2002 at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Fulton County, he lived in Dawson County for the past eight years having moved here from Duluth. Disabled for many years, he was formerly employed by Boomershine Pontiac. An avid mandolin player, for many years he played in bluegrass-gospel groups and was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include of his wife of 63 years, Evelyn Burnett of Dawsonville; daughters Joyce Spruill of Cartersville; Carolyn Hayes and Sandra Davenport, both of Dawsonville, Janice Morris of Carlton; son Stan Burnett of Cumming; sisters Edith Chester of Blue Ridge, Beulah Jones of Cumming, Bertharose Dockery, Villa Rica, Ilene Garmond of Cumming; brothers John Wesley Burnett of Ball Ground, Joel “Buddy” Burnett of Cumming, H. B. Burnett of Dahlonega; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 1, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.
The Revs. Barry Payne, Eric Bailey and David Edmondson officiated. Interment was in the Alpharetta City Cemetery.
Louie Evans

Louie A. Evans of Dawsonville died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at his residence following a sudden illness. He was 73.
Mr. Evans lived all his life in the Dawson-Forsyth County area.
He was a retired poultry farmer, an Army veteran of the Korean era and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Evans; son, Charles L. Evans; parents, Aurther and Daisy Evans; brother, Randy Evans; and sister, Pauline Bailey.
Survivors include his daughter, Michelle Evans Mathis, Cumming; sons, Michael L. Evans, Cumming, Jeffery W. Evans, Dawsonville; sisters, Rowena Wehunt, Dawsonville, Shirley Manders, Tennessee, Mandeline Wehunt, Louisiana; brothers, James D. Evans, Gainesville, W.K. Evans, Dahlonega, Gene Evans, Cumming; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Hugh Fields and the Rev. Guy Christopher officiated. Burial was in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Josephine Ferguson

CUMMING – Josephine Ferguson died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002. She was 60.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd Ferguson, Cumming; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Glenda Ferguson, Dawsonville; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Jason Sheets, Cumming; grandchildren, Andy and Krista Ferguson, Cumming, Daniel Ferguson, Dawsonville, C.J. Sheets, Cumming; great-grandchildren, Aaron Rogers, Evan J. Ferguson; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Scott Truitt, the Rev. Don Ferguson and the Rev. Andy Ferguson officiated. Burial was in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

Mildred McAdams

DULUTH – Mildred Byrd McAdams died Nov. 4, 2002. She was 75.
Mrs. McAdams was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Stephens.
Born in Dawson County, she worked many years at Arrow Shirt Co. and then retired in 1992 from Foote & Davies Printing Co. in Doraville.
She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Duluth and a founding member of the Hattie Reid Bowles Sunday School class. She participated in the Womens Missionary Union at Mt. Tabor in Duluth.
Survivors include her husband, George T. McAdams, Duluth; sons and daughter-in-law, Robert H. Stephens, Duluth, Dwane and Barbara Stephens, Hoschton, Wade B. Stephens, Conyers; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and David Mills, Kingsport, Tenn.; brothers, Henry Byrd and Robert Byrd, Dawsonville; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home in Norcross. Burial was in Peachtree Memorial Park.

Fannie Reagan

Fannie H. Reagan, 79, of Dawsonville died Sunday February 2, 2003 at her residence following a short illness.
A native of Gastonia, N.C., she lived most of her life in Dawson County. Mrs. Reagan was a retired librarian with the Dawson County Library although she contined to work until recently. She had a total of 34 years of service. She was president of the Chestatee Regional Hospital Auxillary, was actively involved with A.A.R.P. and Ninth District Opportunity, and was a member of Juno Baptist Church.
Mrs. Reagan was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Reagan; son, Dale Reagan, parents; E.R. and Elsie Hardin; sister, Frances Hardin and a brother, E.R. Hardin Jr. Survivors include her children Kathryn Smith of Cumming, Steve Reagan of Ball Ground, Howard Reagan, Marshall Reagan, Butch Reagan, Garnetta Fields, and Garland Reagan, all of Dawsonville, and Barbara Kuhn of Greer, S.C.; sister, Mary Lee Ervin of Gastonia, N.C.; 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Feb. 5, 2003, at Juno Baptist Church with the remains placed in state at 12:30 p.m. The Revs. Tim Biddy, Lawton Burt and Edwin “Spud” English will officiate. Interment will be held at the church cemetery.
The family received friends Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home.

Jerry Fausett

Jerry Fausett, 77, of Dawsonville died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003 following an extended illness.
A lifelong resident of Dawson County, he worked until his retirement in the service management area in the poultry industry. Mr. Fausett was a Army veteran of WWII where he served in Germany and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Fausett and his parents, Carl and Ola Fausett. Survivors: wife, Jimmie Fausett of Dawsonville; son and daughter in law, Danny and Sharon Fausett of Dawsonville; brother and sister in law, Randall and Doris Fausett of Dawsonville; grandsons, Bret Fausett and Jody Fausett and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003 at Goshen Baptist Church. The Revs. Hugh Fields and Lawton Burt officiated. Interment in the church cemetery.
