FORT VALLEY - Services for Jean Hinson Smith will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church. Smith, 73, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000. The widow of Jack L. Smith, she was a retired cosmetologist. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Lydia Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her children, Jan Silliman of Roswell and Jerri Devon of Marietta; brother and sister, Russell Hinson of Warner Robins and Brenda Joullian of Perry; two grandchildren; and a stepgrandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 209 S. Miller St., Fort Valley 31030. Rooks Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Mildred Stafford
WARNER ROBINS - Services for Mildred Stafford will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Presbyterian Church with burial in Parkway Memorial Gardens. Stafford, 83, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000. A homemaker, she was formerly employed at Robins Air Force Base. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Judd Stafford; children Vic Robbins, Tony Robbins and Noel Robbins, all of Warner Robins; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in McCullough Funeral Home.

Willie Stephens
DUBLIN - Services for Willie M. Stephens will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Rice Hill Baptist Church with burial in Dudley Memorial Cemetery. Stephens, 79, died Saturday, May 6, 2000. The widower of Susie M. Stephens, he was a member of Rice Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children Catherine Ross, Regenia Stephens, Willie Stephens Jr., Oretta Brown and Rose Ann Stephens, all of Dublin, Loretta Stephens of Macon, 1st Sgt. Eric Stephens of Savannah, Sharon Walker of Atlanta, Robert Stephens of Oak Park, Mich., and Donald Stephens of Detroit; brother, Ulysses Morris of Dublin; 24 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family may be contacted at 617 E. Jackson St., Dublin. Dudley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Robert Sumner Sr.
AUGUSTA - Services for Robert Hugh Sumner Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Marks Baptist Church with burial in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Sumner, 70, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000. Born in Wrightsville, he was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Anderson Lodge No. 243 F&AM and American Legion Post No. 205. He was an insurance agent for 45 years. He was a member of Marks Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Sumner; children David Hattaway of Walterboro, S.C., Jimmy Hattaway of Augusta, Charlotte Sumner and Kenneth Sumner, both of Evans, Steve Sumner of Waycross, Robert Sumner Jr. of Dearing, Joe Sumner of Grovetown, Gary Sumner of Augusta and Terry Sumner of Martinez; brothers and sister Edward Sumner and Lewis Sumner, both of Wrightsville, Fred Sumner of Hardwick, and Curtis Sumner and Margaret Coleman, both of East Dublin; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today in Platt's Funeral Home, Evans, and at 10 a.m. Friday in the church.

Stephen Sumowski
DUBLIN - A Mass for Stephen Anthony Sumowski will be at noon Friday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will be private. Sumowski, 31, died Monday, May 8, 2000. He was a transmission technician at Coastal Transmission. He was a Catholic.

Survivors include his daughter, Justice Elizabeth Sumowski of Dublin; mother, Helen C. Sumowski of Savannah; brother, Robert Sumowski Jr. of Macon; and grandmother, Jewel Tobolsky of Chicago.

The family may be contacted at the residence of Robert Sumowski in Macon. Ingleside Memorial Chapel, Macon, has charge of arrangements.

Buford Taylor
Services for Buford Taylor will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Glorious Hope Baptist Church with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Taylor, 45, died Monday, May 8, 2000. Son of the late John and Kate Taylor, he was born in Bibb County and graduated from Southwest High School. An Army veteran, he worked at Alleghany Rubber. He was a member of Turner Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Taylor; children Amber Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Travis Taylor, Charity Williams, Marcus Taylor and Gary Taylor, all of Macon; brothers John Taylor of California and Tyrone Taylor of Macon; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Bentley & Sons Funeral Home and may be contacted at 1089 Brisbaine St. The body will be in the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Myrtice Thomas
MILAN - Services for Myrtice Hinson Thomas will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Milan Baptist Church with burial in Telfair Memorial Gardens. Thomas, 89, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000. Born in Bleckley County, she was the daughter of the late J.B. and Della Garrett Hinson. She was a retired schoolteacher and member of the Telfair-Wheeler Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of Milan Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Jerry Thomas of Northport, Ala., and Harry Ware of Milan; brothers and sisters, Ronald Hinson of Lavonia, Gilbert Hinson of Sycamore, Billy Hinson of Augusta, Bernice Campbell of Columbus, Miss., Geraldine Thomas of Conyers, Betty Walsh of Zellwood, Fla., and Barbara Gaines of Marietta; several grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae. Memorials may be made to Guy and Myrtice Thomas, Christian Education Fund, c/o Milan Baptist Church, P.O. Box 157, Milan 31060 or Milan Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 157, Milan 31060.

Douglas Underwood
MILLEDGEVILLE - Services for Douglas Alan Underwood will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Moores Funeral Home with burial in Scenic Memorial Gardens. Underwood, 50, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at his residence. He was a vocational instructor, retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Underwood; children Doug Underwood Jr. and Jodi Chapman, both of Milledgeville; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Joe West Sr.
UNADILLA - Services for Joe B. West Sr. will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Snow United Methodist Church with burial in Magnolia Park Cemetery. West, 87, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000. Son of the late Thomas and Rebecca E. West, he was a bus driver for Houston County schools and was retired from the city of Warner Robins Maintenance Department. He was a member of Snow United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey West; children Betty Walling of Kathleen and Joe West Jr. of Warner Robins; stepchildren Leita Fowler of Florence, S.C., and Robbie Moore of Knoxville, Tenn.; sisters Grace Cook of Americus, Elizabeth Jones of Verona, Wis., and Emmie Christmas of McDonough; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 in Bowen-NeSmith Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Snow United Methodist Church, c/o JoAnn Kirkus, P.O. Box 265, Unadilla 31091.

Richard Williams Jr.
Services for Richard "Ronnie" Williams Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Ash Street Church of God in Christ with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Williams, 49, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000. He worked for Shoney's Commissary Operations for 15 years and was co-owner of Grace Automotive. He was a member of Solid Rock Full Gospel Tabernacle Church, where he was chairman of the deacon board, Sunday School supervisor and lead percussionist.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Williams; children Latisha Buckner, Rushell Williams and Shirl Smith, all of Macon, and Harold Smith of Atlanta; mother, Annie Mae Williams of Macon; brothers and sisters George Williams, David Williams, the Rev. Leroy Williams, Melvin Poe Jr., Paulette Mills and Lorene Williams, all of Macon, Patricia Williams of Jones County and Dorothy Tuff of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Solid Rock Full Gospel Tabernacle Church and may be contacted at 3423 and 3419 Simmons St. The body will be placed in Ash Street Church of God in Christ at 1 p.m. Saturday. Bentley & Sons Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

George Albritton
GRAY - Services for George Thomas Albritton will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Bridges Funeral Home with burial in Cedar Ridge Cemetery. Albritton, 69, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at his residence. Son of the late Walter W. and Cora Harris Albritton, he was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a roofing superintendent, retired from work for the Houston County Board of Education. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara C. Albritton; children Karen A. Skandera and Glenn T. Albritton, both of Gray; sister and brother, Jewel A. Whidden of Collegedale, Tenn., and Wallace Albritton of Arnold, Mo.; three grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and a great-stepgrandchild.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home and may be contacted at the residence on Ga. 18 West, Jones County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vista Hospice Care Foundation, 750 Baconsfield Drive, Suite 115, Macon 31211.

Nancy Baker
VIDALIA - Services for Nancy Baker will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Jones-Stewart Funeral Home, Lyons, with burial in Soperton City Cemetery. Baker, 91, died Friday, June 9, 2000, after a long illness. Born in Treutlen County, she lived in Lyons most of her life. She was a charter member of New Corinth Baptist Church in Alston.

Survivors include her sister, Mozelle Cartrette of Hinesville.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Charles Blackshear
JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - Services for Charles Blackshear will be at 4:30 p.m. today in King Chapel Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Blackshear, 77, died Sunday, June 4, 2000.

Survivors include his children Tony Blackshear, Verdie Blackshear and Maggie Gotling, all of Jacksonville, N.C., and Charles Blackshear of Philadelphia; brother and sisters Quning Blackshear of Burgraw, N.C., Leola Fuller, Annie King, Clare McCloud and Pinelle Blackshear, all of Fitzgerald, Mattie Blackshear of New Brunswick, N.J., and Ethel Gaulden of Connecticut.

Hall's Funeral Home in Fitzgerald has charge of arrangements.

Joe Chapman
Memorial services for Joe Chapman will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, High Place. Burial will be private. Chapman, 77, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, in a local hospital. Son of the late Home and Maggie Shoemaker Chapman, he was retired from the Navy, including service during World War II, and was retired from Robins Air Force Base. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Baker Chapman; children, Bill Chapman of St. Marys and Dan Chapman of Macon; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends following services at the church and may be contacted at 1007 Hillyer Ave., Macon 31204. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 511 High Place, Macon 31201. Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.
