Jesse Hinton

Jesse Hinton, age 23, of Stockbridge, Georgia, died May 31, 2009. He was born in Fulton County on March 3, 1986. He loved his music, snowboarding, golfing, sky diving, and traveling. He was a graduate of Union Grove High School and an honor graduate of Georgia Tech.

Jesse is survived by his parents, Robert Bowen and Joyce Denice Norman Hinton, Stockbridge; brother, Judson Hinton, McDonough; sister, Effie Hinton, Stockbridge; nieces, Jaylan Hinton and Maggie Hinton; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on June 4 at Smyrna Presbyterian Church with Rev. Carl Smith officiating. Interment at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends June 3 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors.

Addie Elizabeth Lee

Addie Elizabeth Lee, age 87, of Locust Grove, Georgia died April 25, 2009. She was born in Henderson County, Kentucky, to the late Isaac Sherman and Emily Almeda Carrier Agin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edgar Lee, Sr., by a brother, Ben Agin, during WWII, and a sister, Bertha Oakley.

Mrs. Lee was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Evansville, Indiana, and was a homemaker that enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and crafts.

Survivors include her children, Jimmy (Gloria) Lee of Locust Grove, Louise (Gene) Oliver of Loganville, Joe (Pat) Lee of Mt. Vernon, Indiana; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brother, William Berkley Agin of Illinois.

Funeral services were conducted April 28 at the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, Pastor Jack Feldbush officiating. Interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield, Kentucky. Haisten Funeral Home, 770-914-8833.

Patrick H. Cunningham

Patrick H. Cunningham, age 61, of Locust Grove, Georgia, died, May 12. He was born in Columbus, Ohio to Andrew George Cunningham and the late Wilma Dorothy Runge Cunningham. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was retired after over 25 years with McDonnell-Douglas. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Lorie Cunningham of Locust Grove; daughters, Denise (Jason) Maldonado of Locust Grove, Lisa (Scott) Griffin of Kathleen, Andrea (James) Williams of Bonaire, Connie (Kevin) Hamrick of Rome, Melinda (Dustin) Engle of Loganville, Melissa (Chris) Kimsey of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda and Angela Maldonado, Gracie and Scotty Griffin, James Williams, Dylan Cunningham, Logan and Katelyn Williams, Chase and Noah Hamrick and Austin Heard; father, Andrew Cunningham of Columbus, Ohio; brother, Robert Cunningham of Gahanna, Ohio; sister, Eileen (Roger) Beller of Medina, Ohio.

Funeral services were conducted May 16 at the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, Rev. Preston Bridges officiating. Contributions may be made to Noah’s Ark Animal Rehabilitation Center. Haisten Funeral Home, 770-914-8833.

Henry Lee Cook

Henry Lee Cook, age 71, of Jenkinsburg, Georgia, formerly of Locust Grove, died May 12, 2009. He was born in Henry County, the son of the late Stella Mae Chamlee Cook and Henry Jackson Cook. Mr. Cook was a member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church. He owned and operated several businesses in Locust Grove: IGA Henry’s Super Market, Henry’s Real Quik, and Henry’s Quik Stop, for many years, and farmed and raised cattle. He enjoyed camping, spending time with his family, working with his farm equipment and attending his cattle. He served his country in the National Guard for six years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Bedsole and a brother, William J. Cook.

Survivors are his wife, Tiny Cook of Jenkinsburg; children, Martha Ann and Phil Turner of Locust Grove, Donnie and Teresa Cook of Locust Grove, Patty and Sammy Smith of Jackson, Buster and Tammy Cook of Locust Grove; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Joann Pitts of Griffin; brother, Ricky Cook of Locust Grove; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Cook were held May 15 at the Locust Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Doug Gilreath and Rev. Ron Capes officiating. Interment at the Locust Grove Cemetery. Haisten Funeral Home, 770-914-8833, www.haistenfunerals.com.

Nancy Jane Humphries

Nancy Jane "Parker" Humphries, age 72, of Jackson, Georgia, died May 14, 2009. She was born in Atlanta to the late Fred Eric and Mary

Louise Whatley Parker. She was a member of Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church.

Ms. Humphries is survived by her daughter, Cheree (David) Nitz and grandchildren, Eric Nitz and Lauren Nitz; all of Jackson; sister, Helen Elizabeth Wells, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held May 18, at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Dr. Jimmy Baughcum officiating. Donations may be made to Sacred Journey Hospice, 138 Peach Drive, McDonough, GA, 30253, or the American Cancer Society, Southeast Division, 135 Bradford Square, Ste B, Fayetteville, GA, 30215. Takeko Shimabukuro Ahrens

Takeko Shimabukuro Ahrens, age 77, of Locust Grove, Georgia, died May 15, 2009. Takeko was born April 21, 1932 in Naha City, Okinawa. She was preceded in death by a son, Anthony.

Mrs. Ahrens is survived by her loving husband, Galen Ahrens of Locust Grove; daughter and son in-law Amy and Patrick Sheirling of McDonough; granddaughter Marissa Jade Sheirling of McDonough; five sisters, Matsuyo of Warrenton, Virginia, Naoko of Tokyo, Japan, Mitsuko of Vancover, Washington , Aiko of Tokyo, Japan, and Tomiko of Osaka, Japan.

Funeral services were held May 18 at Ward’s Fairview Chapel. Interment at Fairview Memorial Gardens. Horis A. Ward Fairview Chapel.

Douglas Mackay Weems II

Douglas Mackay Weems II, age 71, of Locust Grove, Georgia, died May 16, 2009. He was born to Elijah Jason and Mary Heyward Weems on May 1, 1938 in Warwick. He graduated from College Park High School and Georgia State University and worked for the Georgia State D.O.T. for 34 years. His passions included tending his peach or-chard that drew acclaim from buyers all around Georgia. In retirement, he was able to develop his passion for art and spend time with his seven grandchildren, whom he adored.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda. He is also survived by his brother, Arthur Heyward Weems; children, Ginger Criswell, Mi-chele Anderson, Douglas Weems and Margaret Weems; grandchildren, Nathan, Sam, Abby, Annie-Cate, Mariel, Jonah and Eli.

Funeral services were held May 18 at the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Haisten Funeral Home, 770-914-8833.
