Gerald Smith
Gerald Smith, age 77, of McDonough, Georgia died May 27, 2009. He was born
in McDonough to the late Chester Smith and Bessie Lee Nail. He attended Timberridge Presbyterian Church and was a dedicated member of the Henry County Rotary Club for many years.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Lynn Gray Smith; daughters, Dr. Lynn Turner and her husband Dr. Samuel Gordon, Akron, Ohio, and Kimberly Dawn Fernandez, Rex; son, Jerry Bryan Smith, Macon; sister, Christine Foster, McDonough; brother, Jack (Betty) Smith, Lakeworth, Florida; grand-children, Bryan Smith, William and Sally Fernandez and his adored pets Queeny and Sally.

Dudley Thornton, Sr.
Dudley Thornton, Sr., age 91, of McDonough, Georgia, died May 28, 2009. He was born
in Newnan to the late Robert Emmett and Janie Rebecca Jackson Thornton. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virgilene Thornton. He served his country in the United States Army during WW II and the Korean Conflict, achieving the rank of Major. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Mr. Thornton is survived by spouse, Naomi Thornton, McDonough; children, Dyanne Beavin, Lilburn, Roddy Thornton, Conley, Thurla Taylor, Charles-ton, South Carolina, Quillian Thornton, Suwanee; step-children, Angela Braswell, Grayson, Chuck Jones, Canton, and Amy Bone, Monroe; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Samuel M. Martin, Jr.
Samuel M. Martin, Jr., age 69, of Locust Grove, Georgia, died May 28, 2009. He was born
in Winona, West Virginia, to the late Samuel M. and Charlotte Hume Martin, Sr. Mr. Martin enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Mr. Martin is survived by his son, Roger Martin, and daughter, Charlotte Martin, both of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Marie Martin, Chris Martin, and Brandy Burdette; 4 great-grandchildren and other adoptive grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several brothers and sisters; several nieces and nephews.

Bobby Garrett Willoughby
Bobby Garrett Willoughby, age 44, of Locust Grove, Georgia, died May 29, 2009. Bobby was born
in Fulton County. He was self-employed and owned his own construction company. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, NASCAR, sports, music, playing pool, casinos, and his daughter’s dogs. His father, Windell Willoughby and a brother, Kelly Ashworth, preceded him in death.
Survivors are his wife of 27 years, Pamela Willoughby of Locust Grove; children, Wendy Willoughby of McDonough and April Willoughby of Locust Grove; mother, Doris Ashworth of Covington; sister, Tammy Ashworth Campbell of Coving-ton; brother, Ed Ashworth of Covington; several nieces and nephews.

Fred Guthrie
Fred Guthrie, age 80, of Stock-bridge, Georgia, died May 29, 2009. Mr. Guthrie was born
in Atlanta to the late William Henry Guthrie and Lessie Willie Harris Guthrie. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from the Georgia Railroad with 30-plus years of dedicated service. Mr. Guthrie was preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha Clay Guthrie and a brother, William Harold Guthrie.
He is survived by his brother, William Clyde Guthrie of Morrow; sister, Lois Shumake of Hampton, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held May 31 at Bethel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Steve Reeves officiating. Horis A. Ward Fairview Chapel.
Jeffrey Williams
Jeffrey Williams, age 47, of McDonough, Georgia, died May 30, 2009. He was born
in Birmingham, Alabama to surviving parents James M. and Dorothy Williams of Panama City Beach, Florida.
He is also survived by his children, Belinda Williams, Jeffrey Williams Jr. and Renae Adolph and their mother, Karen D. Williams all of McDonough; grandchildren, Autumn Harper, Jayson Hack, both of McDonough; brother, Jimmy (Frances) Williams of Newnan; sister, Debbie (Virgal) Neel of Beacon Hill, Florida.
Funeral services were held at The Chapel of Cannon Cleve-land Funeral Directors on June 1, with Herman Miller officiating. Remains will then be carried to Forest Lawn West Funeral Home in Charlotte, NC for services and Interment on June 3.

Dakota James Price-Shields
Dakota James Price-Shields, age 7, of McDonough, Georgia, died May 30, 2009. Dakota was an outgoing, vibrant young boy who enjoyed being with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing football, fishing, baseball, riding his four-wheeler, riding horses, play station, Wii and all of the Star Wars movies. He enjoyed teasing his family, especially his grandfather and sister. He was preceded in death by grandparents, David and Nell Price.
Survivors are his mother and dad, John and Nicole Shields of McDonough; father and step-mother, Terry and Nikki Price of Hilliard, Florida; sister, Cheyanne Price-Shields of McDonough; brother, Pvt. Dusty Price of Fort Benning; step-brothers, Ryan and Kyle Shields of Jacksonville, Florida; step-sister, Crystal Shields of Macon; grand-parents, Charles and Cathy Blankenship Allen of Covington, Steve Willard of Willow Springs, Missouri, Joe and Ann Shields of Flovilla; great-grandparents, Marie and Jim Kirby of Stock-bridge, and J. P. Willard of McDonough; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him.
