Mrs. Thelma Person of 1229 Troup Street died Sunday at Hospice LaGrange.
The family will be at the home of her son, Ernest Person, at 5961 Mooty Bridge Road.

Walter Lee Parkmond
Walter Lee Parkmond of 6791 Whitesville Road died Saturday.
The family will be at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Laura Delaney, at 134 Martha Street.

David Eugene Tyler
David Eugene (Gene) Tyler, 57, died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Tyler was born
November 2, 1940, in West Point, the son of the late Dave G. and Doris Rearden Tyler. He was president of Ultimate Solutions, Inc., a newly formed business in LaGrange and an insurance agent with Henderson Insurance Agency. He was a member and lay speaker at Long Cane United Methodist Church in the Long Cane Community and was a graduate of West Point High School and Georgia State University in Atlanta.
Survivors include two daughters, Allyson Gordon of Niceville, Fla., and Amy Tyler of Atlanta; a son, David Tyler of Columbia, S.C.; a grandson, Joshua Gordon of Niceville.; two sisters, Lanelle T. Lane and Becky T. Hood, both of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Long Cane United Methodist with the Rev. Gerald W. (Jerry) Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in Marseilles Cemetery
in West Point.
The family will be at the home of his sister, Becky Hood, at 6036 West Point Road and will receive friends this evening from 7 until 9 at McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point.

Hyman Kaplan
Hyman Kaplan died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Kaplan was born
in Jerusalem, Israel. He emigrated to the United States as a young man and had resided in LaGrange since 1915. He was a local merchant for many years.
Graveside rites were held Sunday at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Atlanta. Rabbi Mark Kunis officiated.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Kaplan and two sons, Harold and Edwin Kaplan, all of LaGrange.
Greenlawn Jewish Funeral directors was in charge of arrangements.
Jesse J. Pruett Jr.
Jesse J. Pruett Jr., 73, of Stone Mountain, formerly of LaGrange, died Saturday at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur.
Mr. Pruett, born
on July 20, 1924, in Troup County, was the son of the late Jesse James Sr. and Thelma Grace Street Pruett. He was retired from Eastern Airlines as an air freight agent and was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army in the Pacific Theater as a master sergeant.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Pruett of Canada; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue Ellen and Geep Cunningham of Toccoa; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Pam Pruett of LaGrange and Jim and Karen Pruett of New London, N.C.; nine grandchildren; one aunt, Pearl Pruett of LaGrange; and several cousins.
Graveside services were today in Shadowlawn Cemetery
with Pastor Clayton Scott officiating.
The family will be at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Pam Pruett, at 212 Brookstone Drive and will receive friends at their home.

Miss Jeanette Butler
Miss Jeanette Butler, 57, of 160 Memory Lane died Monday at West Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.
Miss Butler, born
January 3, 1941, in Shelbyville, Tenn., had lived in LaGrange most of her life and was the daughter of the late Everett Elmo and Freda Holloway Butler.
Survivors include two sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlene B. and Thomas Johnson and Mavis and Hoyt Smith; two aunts, Lela Parker and Vera Entrekin, all of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Hillview Annex Cemetery
with the Rev. Olin White officiating.
The family will be at the home of Charlene and Thomas Johnson at 160 Memory Lane and will receive friends at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home from 7 until 9 this evening.
Mrs. Bessie D. Mallory
Mrs. Bessie D. Mallory, 75, of Pine Mountain died Monday at Florence Hand Home.
Mrs. Mallory was born
July 13, 1922, in Pine Mountain, the daughter of the late Jesse William and Leona Prophett Davis.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Mallory of Pine Mountain; a son, Joe Mallory and a daughter, Betty Miller, both of Shiloh; three grandchildren, Robbie Miller of Senoia, Joey Miller of Shiloh and Brandi Fuller of Greenville; a great-grandson, Hudson Fuller of Shiloh; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Pine Mountain Valley First Baptist Church with Brother Gene Rosinbaum officiating. Burial will be in Pine Mountain Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her son and daughter at 350 Hess Johnson Road in Shiloh and will receive friends at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange Chapel, at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road this evening between 7 and 9.
Mrs. Norene J. Wingo
Mrs. Norene J. Wingo, 92, wife of the late J.T. (Bud) Wingo, died Monday at the West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Wingo, born
April 5, 1905, in Heard County, was the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Pearl Middlebrooks Jackson. She had made her home in LaGrange since 1941, and at the time of her death was the oldest member of Dallas Presbyterian Church. She retired from the Dunson Division of West Point Pepperell, Inc., in 1961.
Survivors include a daughter, Miss Sara Beatrice Wingo of LaGrange; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Eloise Wingo of LaGrange and Mrs. Dorothy Wingo of Braintree, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange Chapel, at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road with Dr. James Dodd officiating. Burial will be Restlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Dallas Presbyterian Church or a favorite charity in memory of Mrs. Wingo.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Kelley Person of 1229 Troup St., will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Canaan Baptist Church on Highway 219 north. The Rev. A.A. Heard Jr. will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Person, born
October 4, 1927, in Heard County, was the widow of the late Truitt Person and the daughter of the late Henry and Cora Kelley. She was a faithful member of Canaan Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherre Ann (Henry) Russell; five sons, Willie P. Person, Ernest L. Person, Marvin (Juanita) Person and Ronnie Person, all of LaGrange, and Larry Person of Decatur; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Julia L. Freeman of LaGrange, Mrs. Johnnie M. (James) Smith of Hyattville, Md., Mrs. Lola Deville of Emporia, Va., and Mrs. Annie L. Swinson of Washington , D.C.; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ora Person, Mrs. Ruby Philpot, Mrs. Lucille Person and Mrs. Annie K. Wilkerson; four aunts, Mrs. Julia Philpot, Mrs. Mattie Lue Kelley, Mrs. Maggie Cotton and Mrs. Willie Ruth Person; one uncle, Eddie B. (Odessa) Person; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will be at the residence of her son, Ernest Person, at 5961 Mooty Bridge Road.

Walter Lee Parkmond
The funeral for Walter Lee Parkmond of 6791 Whitesville Road will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Union Springs United Methodist Church. The Rev. Leroy Murphy will officiate with burial in Union Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Parkmond was born
in Harris County on December 15,1912, the son of the late Ben and Laura Howe Parkmond and was preceded in death by his wife, Murlene Ray Parkmond. He was a former maintenance worker at Cagle’s, a member of the U.B.A. Lodge and Sunshine Baptist Church.
Survivors include six sons. Frank (Joyce) Parkmond of Hollywood, Fla., Arthur (Willie Mae) Parkmond, Bennie Clyde Parkmond and Joseph Anthony (Patricia) Parkmond, all of LaGrange, Ray (Dorothy Jean) Parkmond of West Point and John (Sallie Kate) Parkmond of Greenville; seven daughters, Mary (Mack) Carter, Laura (Tony) Delaney, Christella (Tommy) Tucker, Coetha (Cary) Formbly, Mattie Jane Scott, Shirley Ree McGhee and Vickie Ann Parkmond, all of LaGrange; 43 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Mittie Ester Brown of Cataula; a brother-in-law, Sammy Lee (Catherine) Ray of LaGrange; niece, Estella Carlisle; nephew, Sammie Hightower; and other relative and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 until 8 and will be at the home of his daughter, Laura Delaney, at 134 Martha Street.

Will Matheny
Will Matheny, 63, of Atlanta died Monday in Atlanta.
Mr. Matheny was a native of Troup County.
Survivors include a son, Mike Matheny of Aiken, S.C.; a daughter, Pam Brickhouse of Covington; two brothers, Doyle Matheny and Gene Matheny, both of LaGrange; seven grandchildren, Bethany, Tara, Jonathan and David Matheny, and Bradley, Michael and Megan Brickhouse.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur.
Lucius (Luke) Thornton
Lucius A. (Luke) Thornton, 76, of 3425 Hammett Road died Wednesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Thornton, born
March 5, 1921, in Randolph County, Ala., was the son of the late Morris Emory and Arzona Ward Thornton. He had lived here most of his life and retired from the Dunson Division of West Point Pepperell Manufacturing Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Louise Thornton of Hogansville; a son and daughter in law, Fred and Melody Thornton of Pine Mountain; a daughter, Susan Garrison of LaGrange; two grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law, Shane Thornton of Hogansville and Andy and Amy Thornton of West Point; a granddaughter, Christy Watkins of LaGrange; two great-grandchildren, Paige Thornton of West Point and Brittney Watkins of LaGrange; three sisters, Verna Barnes, Liddie Huber and Addie Thompson, all of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Murphy Avenue Church of Christ with Evangelist Alton Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Gwendolyn K. Humphries, 83, of 4324 Greenville Road in the Mountville Community died this morning at West Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness.
