Teresa D. Brown
Teresa D. Brown, age 63, of McDonough, Georgia, died June 6, 2009. She was born
in Atlanta to the late James Lee and Frances Louise McDevitt Minor. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Brown, Sr. She was a parishioner of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church and enjoyed traveling to the mountains and the beach.
Survivors include her son, Tommy (Stephanie) Brown of McDonough; granddaughters, Brooke and Brittany Brown; sisters, Margaret Head of Fayetteville and Sherri (Andy) Cooper of Covington; brothers, Jimmy (Barbara) Minor of Covington, Jack (Diane) Minor of Coving-ton, Mike (Angela) Minor of Hampton; numerous nieces and nephews.

Arevik Mesrop Gouloian
Arevik Mesrop Gouloian, age 84, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away June 7, 2009. Mrs. Gouloian was born
in Armenia the daughter of the late Khasik Hovanes Gouloian and Mesrop Grigor Gouloian. Her husband, Zaven Petrak Najarian, preceded her in death. Mrs. Gouloian was a devoted mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother who enjoyed her family, cooking, and passing along the heritage of her country to her family in Armenian stories. She was a very strong-willed person. She was a member of The Open Door Chapel and attended McDonough Baptist Tabernacle.
Survivors are her children, Vazken Najarian (Anahit) of McDonough, Armen Najarian (Anahit) of McDonough and Hrant Najarian of Atlanta; 6 grandsons, and 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Andranick Gouloian of Armenia and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on June 10 from 6 – 8 p.m. Her funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Haisten Funeral Home, 770-914-8833.
Charlie J. Flowers
Charlie J. Flowers, age 91, of McDonough, Georgia, died June 8, 2009. Mr. Flowers was born
in Mitchell County to the late William Henry Flowers and Elizabeth Wadsworth Flowers. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was involved in the invasion of Okinawa, Japan. Mr. Flowers was retired from the U.S. Postal Services with 20 years of service. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marie Elizabeth Searcy Flowers.
He is survived by his sons, Charles Richard Flowers, Sr of McDonough, Thomas Randall Flowers of Acworth; grandchildren, Donna Flowers, Cynthia Cross, Kellie Dodgen, Charles R. Flowers, Jr,. Karla Avery, and Hope Flowers; 12 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, at Ward’s Tara Chapel. Interment at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 10, from 6-8 p.m. at Horis A. Ward Tara Chapel, 681 North Avenue, Jonesboro.
Sureatha Shawnae Kelly
Sureatha Shawnae Kelly, age 38. of Hampton, Georgia died May 22, 2009. She was born
on January 5, 1971 to John and Lizzie Reid in Griffin. She was the youngest of nine children. She received an Associate’s degree in Broadcasting from Bauder College in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 1997, she married
her high school sweetheart, Michael Kelly of Locust Grove, Georgia. She enjoyed planning magical events, home interior, spending time with family and Wal-Mart. She was preceded in death by a sister, Renae.
Survivors include her husband, Michael; sons, Michael, Jr. and Erion; parents, John and Lizzie; three sisters, Rosa (James), Shirley (Camera) and Angela (Randy); four brothers, John (Jeanetta), Randy (Carlene), Michael (Sheila) and Herman (Tomyke); in-laws, Mattie, Alex and Cheryl; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. William Reeves Sims
William Reeves “Wild Bill” Sims, age 72, of McDonough, Georgia, died May 23, 2009. He was born
in Copper Hill, Tennessee, to the late Johnny Inez Sims. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War and retired after 50 years from the Plumbers/Pipe fitters Local 719. He was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge and the Shriner’s. He enjoyed riding his Harley and was an avid Miami Dolphins fan.
Survivors include his children, John (Kathy) Sims of McDonough, Stacia Richards of Citra, Florida; grandchildren, Don William Alvarez, Jessica Dianne Sims, Nicole Ann Sims, Thomas Edward Richards, Tanner Buck Richards, Savanah Rose Richards. Charles Gilbert
Charles "Charlie" Gilbert, age 67, of Stockbridge, Georgia, died May 26, 2009. He was born
in Stockbridge to the late Mattie Eunice Lamb Gilbert and John R. Gilbert, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Louie Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert was a member of Stockbridge First Baptist Church.
Mr. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Linda LaBranche Gilbert, Stockbridge; daughters, Staci (Jimmy) Higginbotham, Jonesboro, Paige (Stephen) Spivey, Ashburn, Virginia, and Debbie (Paul) Bachmann, Atlanta; grand-children: Tori, Juli and Greyson Higginbotham, Audrey, Brody and Collin Bachmann, Ainsley and Avery Spivey; brother: John Gilbert, Jr., Stockbridge; sister, Louise Miller, Woodbury; several nieces and nephews.

Stephen Bedford Bailey
Stephen Bedford Bailey, age 81, of McDonough, Georgia, died May 26, 2009. Mr. Bailey was born
in Twiggs County, the son of the late Ethel Fitzpatrick and Seaton Grantland Bailey. He was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Emily Miller and Virginia Bailey Stewart. Mr. Bailey served his country in the Merchant Marines on the MV “Blackwall Hitch.” He was a member of First Union Baptist Church. He was a member of the Spalding County Masonic Lodge No. 90. He worked as a pressman for the Atlanta Journal/Constitution for 31 years and also worked for the Griffin Newspaper as a pressman. Mr. Bailey enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, visiting with friends and family.
Survivors are his wife, Frances Lord Bailey of McDonough; son, Seaton G. Bailey of Atlanta; daughter, Rosemary Monroy (Tony) of Griffin; brother, D. Jack Bailey of Griffin; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Bailey were May 29 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Watkins officiating. Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery

Joe Larry Mabrey
Joel Larry “Leggs” Mabrey age 62, of McDonough, Georgia, died May 26, 2009. He was born
in Thomaston. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Margaret Frances Strickland Hendrix and Jack Hendrix; his first wife, Mollie White Mabrey; brothers, Joe Mabrey and Andy Hendrix. He served his country in the US Navy. Mr. Mabrey was self-employed as an auto body repairman. He enjoyed motorcycles and doing body work on cars. He was known for his sense of humor and being straight to the point. He was a member of the Custom Riders.
Survivors are his wife, Alice Mabrey of McDonough; children, Shannon Mabrey, Joelien Mabrey, Robert Maness, Kaylie Maness all of McDonough and Lee Maness of Stockbridge; sister, Louise Smith of Fountain, Florida; brothers, James, Ronnie and Donnie Hendrix of Carrolton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
