Jordan Mae Smith, 2-day-old infant daughter of Laurie and Ashley Smith, and sister of Carlton Ryan Smith of Loganville, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at Eggleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta. Jordan was born
Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004 at Eastside Medical Center in Snellville.
Little Jordan Mae is also survived by her grandparents, Priscilla "Skeeter" Smith of Snellville, Bob and Judy Riddell of Newnan; great-grandparents George F. Dyson, Sr. of Temple and Nell Stallings of Smyrna; aunt and uncles Jason and Lisa Vaught of Lithia Springs, Joey and Holly Riddell of Villa Rica, and Betsy Smith of Atlanta; as well as cousins Joey and Elijah Riddell of Villa Rica. Her grandfather is the late Carlton R. "Randy" Smith of Snellville.
Services were held at Grayson United Methodist Church in Grayson at 3 p.m., Sunday with Rev. Phil Schroeder officiating.
Funeral arrangements were by McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan.
The family requests that all memorials for Jordan Mae Smith be sent to Eggleston Children's Hospital or to The Grayson United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Harriett C. (Kilgore) Thompson, age 53, of Stockbridge, Ga., died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004 at her residence in Stockbridge, Ga.
She is survived by her son Chris Thompson of Grantville, Ga., four sisters, three brothers and three grandchildren.

Mr. Bobby W. Burdette of Newnan died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004.

Mrs. Veora Murphy, 49, of Gentry, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at her home.
Mrs. Murphy was born
Dec. 1, 1954, in Orange County, Calif., to Jack and Vivian Lowrey Hettinger. She was software manager for a computer company and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Siloam Sprigs. She was a devoted wife, mother and sister and is preceded in death by her mother.

Mr. David S. Latimore Jr.
David Snodgrass Latimore Jr., 66, formerly of Lookout Mountain and Atlanta, passed away from cancer Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004 at his home in Newnan.
Mr. Latimore, the son of the late David S. and Mary Allen Latimore, was a native of Lookout Mtn., TN, where he attended the Baylor School before entering the University of Alabama where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Following graduation he received his commission in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant [JG] and was stationed in California and Alaska. Upon completion of his Navy obligations he returned to Chattanooga, where he and his wife remained until 1973 when they moved to Atlanta where he continued his business career with Federal Home Loan Mortgage Bank. In 1983 Mr. and Mrs. Latimore moved to Newnan where Mr. Latimore started his own business, Latimore Appraisers, as a certified real estate appraiser in Coweta and surrounding counties. He was a longtime member of The Appraisal Institute of America.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 22 at 3 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, Newnan, with Dr. Joel Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home on Sunday, Aug. 22 between 1 and 2:30 p.m.
Survivors are his wife of 35 years, Catherine Duff Latimore; daughters, Catherine Crowell "Cakki" Namorato (Jim), St. Paul, Minn., and Mary Duff Latimore Rayneri (Michael) of Greenville, S.C.; and his sister, Mrs. Buckner Latimore Hughes of Chattanooga.

Mr. Tom Mathews was born
July 4, 1921 in Newnan, Ga. He departed his life Aug. 17, 2004.
He was employed with the school board as a bus driver for about 25 years. He was preceded in death by his two children, Mattie Mitchell and Johnny Mathews.
He leaves to mourn a wife, Janie Mathews; grandchildren, Francine and James Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Walter (Elaine) McCrary, Darren and Vickie Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Mitchell, Michele Wilson, all of Newnan, and John and Glenn Mathews of Atlanta; 16 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; two nieces, Cora Cook and Thelma Dennis; nephew, Robert Smith; a host of "Special Friends."

She was the daughter of the late George Maibach and the late Myrtle (Steele) Maibach. She was preceded in death by her husband John R. Kailer.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura and Tom Haskell of Fortson, Ga.; son, Robert Keith and Donna Pine Sr. of Fort Seale, Okla.; grandchildren, Charlie Haskell, Rocky Pine Jr., Nicholas Pine, Philip Pine and John Pine; sister, Mary Ann Steavens of Albany, Ga. and dear friend Linda Jones of Columbus, Ga.

Mr. James Edward McDowell
Mr. James Edward McDowell, 60, of Clifton Terrace, Carrollton, Ga., passed away Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004 at his residence. He was born
April 22, 1944, in Coweta County to the late Albert M. McDowell and Susie Flora Crumbley McDowell. Mr. McDowell was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Trent Tube Co. after 35 years of service and then worked for The Food Outlet. His hobbies included bowling which he thoroughly enjoyed and once bowled a 300 game, his earlier interest included baseball and he once threw a no hitter in a game between Western High and Grantville. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Franklin McDowell. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James Steven & Janice McDowell of Carrollton; brothers, Clinton McDowell of Covington, Robert E. McDowell and Jerome M. McDowell, both of Carrollton; four grandchildren, Megan, Dion, Kimani and Taye; also surviving are a number of other relatives. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, Aug. 16, 2004 at 4 p.m. from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Byron Spruell and Rev. Billy Patterson officiating. Music was rendered by the Voices of Faith. Interment followed in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery
with American Legion Post 143 Honor Guard making the Flag presentation. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel had charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Priscilla Moore Bishop
Mrs. Priscilla Moore Bishop, 62, of Senoia, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at Fayette Community Hospital in Fayetteville.
She was a member of the White Oak Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Mayflower Society of Georgia and the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Alton Bishop of Senoia; two daughters, Dody and Gene Morris of McDonnough, and Mary June Bishop of Senoia; two sons, Bobby Bishop of Senoia, and Virlyn Bishop of Decatur; one sister, Sally P. Hardie of Huvie, Scotland; and one brother, Thomas C. Moore of West Port, Conn.
She was preceded in death by parents Virlyn and Dorothy Copeland, and daughter Sally P. Bishop.

Mrs. Ethel Carnes, 76, of Whitesburg, died Saturday, August 14, 2004.
She was born
August 29, 1927, in Carroll County, to the late Charlie and Ruth Carter Davenport. Mrs. Carnes was retired from Sony Music.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Marlin Carnes; brothers, Adrian Davenport, Delano Davenport and Everett Davenport.
Survivors include three daughters, Priscilla Carnes of Whitesburg, Larinda Carnes of Villa Rica and Candace Bentley of Carrollton; sister and brother-in-law, Harriet and Raybon McLain of Newnan, Ione and Clifford Upchurch of Whitesburg; sister Joyce Talley of Eatonton; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jimmy Cole of Whitesburg; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Monday, August 16, 2004, at 2 p.m. from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel, with Brother Doug New Officiating. Mr. Henry Jerry Fields, 57, of Carrollton, died Friday, August 13, 2004. Mr. Fields was employed as a superintendent in the construction business.
A member of Bible Baptist Church in Newnan, he was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Cates) Fields of Carrollton.
Other survivors include a daughter, Melissa Hogan of Newnan; a stepdaughter, Cynthia Lynn Garcia of Carrollton; a son, Ryan Michael Fields of Newnan; a stepson, Rod Dyess of Carrollton; a brother, George Fields of Newnan; his mother Odessa Wiggins Fields of Newnan; and grandchildren, Bobby, John, Joe Hogan and Anthony Tyler Rogers

Mr. Roger Darrell Tenney, 41, died Sunday, August 15, 2004. He was born
April 22, 1963, in Coweta County.
Survivors include his mother, Marie & L.E. Hendrix of Newnan; his father, Roger and Clair Tenney of Barnesville; a twin sister, Carol Denney of Franklin; sisters, Leslie Morris of Newnan and Susan Minix of Newnan; brothers, Kevin Tenney of Newnan and Mike Hendrix of Newnan; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Tenney, in April of 2004.
No services have been planned at this time.
