Mr. Lawrence Randal Lewis
Mr. Lawrence Randal Lewis, 52, of Grantville, Ga., died Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.

He was born July 2, 1951 in Coweta County, son of Joseph A. Lewis and Syble (Wessinger) Lewis. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by daughter, Holly Lynn (Lewis) Cruce and husband P. J. and their daughter Amber of Hogansville, Ga.; three sons, Brad Lewis of LaGrange, Ga., Patrick Hendrix of LaGrange, Ga. and Tracy Hendrix of Pine Mountain, Ga. He has three sisters, Martha Caswell and husband Robert of Opelika, Ala., Violet Miles and husband David of Newnan, and Sandra Estep and husband Bob of Moreland. There are two brothers, Tim Lewis of Newnan, Ga. and Joe Lewis Jr. and wife Lynn of Jacksonville, Ala. Preceding him in death were his brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Vickie Lewis and James and Ann Lewis.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, Ga. where the family will receive friends 2-8 p.m. Thursday, April 15. Funeral service will be at McKoon Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Friday, April 16. Rev. Hubert Flournoy and Dr. Melvin Payne officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Estep, Joe Estep, Tyler Huddleston, Michael Lewis, Timmy Lewis and Sterling Griffin. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan, Ga.

Mr. James Allen (Boo Boo) Littlefield
Mr. James Allen (Boo Boo) Littlefield, 44, of Trueblood Road, Halifax, N.C., died Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Funeral is noon Wednesday, April 14, at Hockaday Funeral Home Chapel, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, conducted by Rev. Boyd Bailey. Family visitation was Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the home. He was preceded in death by his father, James Aubrey Littlefield and his sister, Susan L. Whitt.

Surviving are his wife, Gloria Parrish Littlefield; mother, Alice Brown Littlefield of Hogansville, Ga.; daughter, Crystal Ann Littlefield and her fiancé, Anthony Langbecker, LaGrange, Ga.; son, James Anthony (Jimmy) Littlefield of Newnan, Ga.; daughter, Robin (Angel) DeBerry and husband, Sgt. Jason L. DeBerry of Roanoke Rapids; son, Robert (Bobby) Ray McLaughlin Jr. and wife Lisa W. of Roanoke Rapids; grandchildren, Austin, Dylan, Jacob, Mathew, Christian, Nicholas; nieces and nephews, Jamie (Mike) Friend, Jody Wade and his fiancé, Heather, and her daughter, Franchesca, Jessica and Jackie Wade, and Zachery Starling.

Mr. James E. "Jim" Trad
Mr. James E. "Jim" Trad died April 7, 2004 at his home in Newnan. He was born October 16, 1924 in MIlwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Joseph and Fannie Saddy Trad. He retired after many years from the retail carpet store his father had founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His King Charles Cavalier Spaniels were his passion. He was preceded in death by one of his Cavalier Spaniels, Spencer.

The memorial service will be Thursday, April 15, at 2 p.m. at St. George Catholic Church with Father Austin Fogarty officiating. The family requests that flowers not be sent and memorial contributions be made to the Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue Fund, P.O. Box 17237, Richmond, VA 23226-7237.

Mr. John Wayne Close
Mr. John Wayne Close, 62, of Newnan, Ga., died Sunday, April 11, 2004 at his residence in Newnan. He was born August 15, 1941 in Edison, Georgia, and was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Ellen Roberts Phillips. He served his country in the United States Air Force for seven years. Mr. Close was retired, having been employed by Optima Enclosures in materials management and quality assurance. Surviving him is his wife, Norma Patricia Bush Close of Newnan. Two sons also survive, Andy Close and his wife Tracy of Newnan, and Mike Close and his wife, Teresa, of Locust Grove, Ga. His grandchildren are Allison Close, Julie Anna Close, Lauren Close, Lindsey Close, and Ashley Close. An aunt, Mary Alice Sheffield of Arlington, Georgia and his step-father, Bryant Phillips of Jacksonville, Florida and his step-brother Jimmy Phillips ofAndrews, S.C. also survive him.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, Ga., where the family was receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 12.

Mrs. Elizabeth Allen Green
Mrs. Elizabeth Allen Green, 39, wife of Jeff B. Green, died Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.

Memorial service will be Tuesday, April 13 at Mars Hill Baptist Church in Carrollton, Ga. at 2 p.m. Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Monday, April 12, at Almon Funeral Home, Carrollton, Ga.

Elizabeth was born Jan. 29, 1965 in Atlanta, Ga., daughter of Eloise K. Allen and the late John P. Allen and was a former resident of Knoxville, Tenn. She graduated from Berry College with a degree in psychology and earned a Master of Education degree in Special Education/Behavioral Disorders and an Ed. S. degree in Special Education/Learning Disorders from the State University of West Georgia. Elizabeth taught at Northside Elementary for five years and was currently employed at White Oak Elementary in Coweta County. She was active in Mars Hill Baptist Church. Elizabeth was a devoted wife and mother whose life and Christian testimony epitomized the words of King Solomon in Proverbs 31.

Surviving are her husband; sons, Jacob Benjamin, 8, and Joshua Bradley, 5; her mother; sister and brother-in-law, Sheri and Joe Sullivan; nephews, John and Knox Sullivan of Asheville, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Loretta Allen; nieces, Jacqueline, Katherine and Lauren Allen of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Cheryl Allen, Franklin, Tenn.; niece, Rachel Allen and her mother Pam Allen; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Pat Green of Riverdale, Ga.; sister-in-law, Sherry Green of Hiram, Ga.

Mrs. Mary H. Rooker
Mrs. Mary H. Rooker, 72, of Conyers, Ga., died Saturday, April 10, 2004. Mrs. Rooker was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Clyde L. Rooker. She is survived by her sons, Barry C. and Christine A. Rooker of Roswell and Timothy D. and Karen S. Rooker of Suwanee; grandchildren, Jason C. Rooker and Karen M. Rooker, both of Roswell; sisters, Nancy Burks, Betty Stapler; brothers, Steve Hardegree and Bubba Hardegree, all of Newnan. The family was receiving friends at Horris A. Ward's Rockdale Chapel Monday from 4-8 p.m. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 13 at Ward's Rockdale Chapel. A family graveside service will follow at Resthaven Garden of Memories. Horris A. Mr. Matthew Alburn Easterwood Jr.
Mr. Matthew Alburn Easterwood Jr., 76, of Old Fort, N.C., died Friday, April 9, 2004, at his residence. Mr. Easterwood was born Dec. 21,1927, in Raymond, Ga., to the late Matthew Alburn Easterwood and Millie McKoy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Mr. Easterwood was a member of the Old Fort Presbyterian Church and a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marines. He was also a Mason and a member of the Kiwanis Club. He was a master woodworker who loved Gospel music, singing bass in a Gospel quartet. He was a giving person who enjoyed spending time with his family and many, many friends.

A visitation for Mr. Easterwood will be held Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Kirksey Funeral Home in Old Fort. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 13 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, with Interment following at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Easterwood's memory to Hospice of McDowell County, 218 Logan Street, Marion, N.C. 28752.

Survivors include wife Pamela O'Brien Easterwood of Old Fort, formerly of Louisville, Ky.; two sons, Larry Alburn Easterwood (Patricia) of Greensboro, N.C. and Mark Alan Easterwood (Jan) of Lithia Springs, Ga.; one sister, Inez Cochran of Riverdale, Ga.; four grandchildren, Joshua, Jamie, Laurie and Matthew Easterwood; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. William Worth Kelley
Mr. William Worth Kelley, 70, of Mableton, Ga., died Saturday, April 10, 2004, at his residence in Mableton.

Mr. Kelley was born May 20, 1933, in Newnan, to the late Aubrey Worth Kelley and Ruth (Thompson) Kelley. He graduated from Osborne High School and attended the Georgia Institute of Technology before serving in the United States Army in Germany. Later, he graduated from Southern Polytechnic Institute. He was a Cobb County Master Gardener and enjoyed playing duplicate bridge. For 35 years, he was employed by IBM. Following his retirement, he worked part-time for the Atlanta Braves and for ITS.

Funeral services for Mr. Kelley will be Monday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. Internment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 to 7 p.m.

Survivors include wife, Patricia Greer Kelley of Mableton; one daughter, Alexis Kelley Brown of Marietta; and brothers, Charles Douglas Kelley of Austell, Stanley Gerald Kelley of Marietta and Richard Gary Kelley of Marietta.

Mrs. Lula B. Johns
Mrs. Lula B. Johns, 91, of Grantville, Ga., died Thursday, April 8, 2004 at her home.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 10, in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Rhodes Skinner will officiate, and Interment will be in the Pitts Cemetery.

Born March 10, 1913, in Barbour County, Alabama, Mrs. Johns was the daughter of the late Lazarus and Minnie Phillips Kennedy. She had lived in Grantville since 1955, was a member of Grantville Baptist Church, and was the wife of the late John Floyd Johns.

Survivors include two daughters, Ella Mae Wadsworth of Franklin and Mary Ann Hall of Grantville; two sons, Billy F. Johns of Grantville and Gary Johns of Lone Oak; 52 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren, and three great-great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Betty Lumpkin, Corine Fogarty, and Juanita Johns; and two sons, Tommy Johns and David Johns.

Mrs. Providence Zultowski
Mrs. Providence Zultowski of Peachtree City, Ga., died April 8, 2004 at Southland Nursing Home. Mrs. Zultowski was born in Bronx, New York, to the late Anthony and Rosiena Pitre Tavolacci on March 7, 1908. She was a dressmaker and a housewife for the majority of her life. She was of the Catholic faith. Mrs. Zultowski was preceded in death by her husband Jack Zultowski. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Lena Guarnaccia of Newnan; niece, Mrs. Rosemarie Womble of Newnan; nephew, Robert Guarnaccia of Gwinnett County. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, Ga., with Deacon Ben Gross of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church officiating. Entombment services will follow at the Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn. Family was receiving friends on Friday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Irvin "Vinny" Ellner
Mr. Irvin "Vinny" Ellner, 60, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, April 7, 2004. He was born in Long Island, NY to Joe and Shirley Ellner Dec. 28, 1943.

He brought joy to many children and families across the metro area each year by playing Santa Claus. He had been Santa Claus at Northlake Mall, Arbor Place Mall, Chateau Elan and Shannon Mall.

He and his wife's love for animals touched the lives of many through their pet stores, Picadilly Pets that specialized in birds, reptiles and fish. They had stores in Ansley Mall, in Buckhead, and on Old National Highway for 25 years. The store on Old National Highway burned and all of the pets were lost, prompting Lewis Grizzard to write a syndicated article on Vinny and Betty's love for their pets and their business.

The funeral will be Saturday, April 10, 2004 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan, Ga., with Rev. Scott Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife Betty Ellner of Newnan, Ga.; parents, Joe and Shirley Ellner of Ocala, FL; daughter, Allison Ellner of Jonesboro, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Kristen and Doug Walsh of Jackson, MS; son and daughter-in-law, David and Tiffany Ellner of Norcross, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Randi and Mike Hughes of Duluth, GA; brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Elaine Ellner; granddaughter, Christina Walsh; stepson Chad Hemmings of Albany, GA; nieces and nephews; and his two dogs, Duncan and Darling.

Mrs. Jennette Mobley Hardy of Palmetto, Ga., daughter of Mrs. Lucile Mobley and Mr. Escridge Mobley, died April 3, 2004 at age 81. The beloved wife of the late Mr. Hilliard Daniel Hardy, she is survived by daughter, Mary Hardy and granddaughter, Jennette L. Hardy, both of California. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Mr. Robert Hines; sister-in-law, Mrs. Elnora Mobley, a host of nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren and many close friends in Michigan and Georgia. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 9, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. at Harris Chapel United Methodist with remains placed in state in the church from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service. The Rev. Mrs. Teresa West Jewell passed Thursday, April 7, 2004 at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur, Ga.

Funeral service will be Saturday, April 10, at 11 a.m. from Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 1600 Mt. Moriah Rd., N.E., with remains placed in state 10 a.m. The Rev. Michael Lewis, pastor. A second service will be held at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Whitesburg, Ga., 3 p.m. The Rev. Brooklyn Smith, pastor. The Rev. B. B. Avery officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Lillie Mae (Smallwood) Bishop
Mrs. Lillie Mae (Smallwood) Bishop, 82, of Senoia, Ga., died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Newnan Hospital. She was born Nov. 22, 1921 in Fulton County, Ga., daughter of the late Riley Smallwood and the late Betsy (West) Smallwood. She was preceded in death by her husband Felix L. Bishop and three children. She retired from Nabisco where whe was a production supervisor. She is survived by her two sons, Jackie Bishop and wife Charlotte of Turin, Ga. and Johnny Bishop and wife Robin of Turin, Ga. Her brother is I. R. "Bunky" Smallwood of Senoia, Ga.

Mr. Joel Hampton Joyce Sr.
Mr. Joel Hampton Joyce Sr., 55, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004 in Carrollton, Ga.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10 at Brooke Funeral Home Chapel, 8320 Highway 158, Stokesdale, N.C.

A native of Hope Mills, N.C., Mr. Joyce was born Nov. 22, 1948 to the late John Mallie Joyce and Helen Mann. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard.

Surviving are his mother Helen Mann; sister, Elizabeth Ann Weaver, both of Charleston, S.C.; sons, Joel Hampton Joyce Jr. and wife Ann Marie, and Christopher Hampton Joyce and wife Heidi, all of Stokesdale, N.C.; and daughter, Mary Elizabeth Joyce of Greensboro, N.C.; granddaughters, Ashley Joyce of Roanoke, VA, JoAnn Marie Joyce, Sarah Erlene Joyce, both of STokesdale, N.C., and Melissa Page Joyce of Greenboro, N.C.; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Mr. Jesse M. Thompson
Funeral services for Mr. Jesse M. Thompson of Newnan will be Friday, April 9, 2004 at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, Poplar Road, Newnan. The remains placed in state at noon. Rev. Cortez Golphin, eulogist, assisted by Rev. Michael Cain, Rev. Moses Woodruff Jr., Rev. Ralph Thompson Jr. and Rev. James Cato. Interment Eastview Cemetery. Jesse Morris Thompson passed away April 5, 2004. Jesse was born on Jan. 12, 1927 to the late Matthew and Essie Thompson in Newnan, Ga.

Jesse joined the Mount Olive United Methodist Church at an early age. He served in various capacities, which included Sunday School superintendent for sixty years, trustee, treasurer, lay speaker and Administrative Board chairperson.

Jesse was employed by West Point Pepperell Company for 60 years as a maintenance mechanic until he retired.

He was preceded in death by one son, Dr. Jesse Marcellous Thompson.

Jesse leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife for 57 years, Martha Louise Thompson; one son, Rev. Dr. Aubrey Matthew (Emma) Thompson of Union City; two grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Morris (Dana) Thompson and Erica Reeshemah Thompson, both of Riverdale; three great-grandchildren, Aisha Ijada, Destiny Breyanna, Ruth and Rayen Danielle; one brother, Mr. and Mrs. Starling (Margaret) Thompson Sr.; four sisters-in-law, Katie Thompson, Annie Bell Thompson, Azzie Lee Thompson and Johnnie B. Robinson, all of Newnan; godson, Starling Thompson Jr. of Hampton; one niece (he raised) Angela Robinson; one great-niece, Nicole Robinson; two great-nephews, Dustin and Justin Jones; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Sarah Lee (Blakely) Fleming
Mrs. Sarah Lee (Blakely) Fleming, 90, of Covington, Ga., died Monday, April 5, 2004 at Newton General in Covington, Ga.

A native of Newnan, she was born Feb. 22, 2914, daughter of the late James Blakely and the late Eula (Yeargan) Blakely. She was preceded in death by her husband George Wayne Fleming. She had been a member of Central Baptist Church of Newnan and for many years was bookkeeper for Lee-King Pharmacy. She is survived by her two daughters, Alice Fleming Gruenhut of Oxford, Ga. and Jane Fleming of Covington.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, Ga., where the family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, April 7. Funeral service will be at Oak Hill Cemetery at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 7. Dr. Joel Richardson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Mr. Fred Reeves, Jr. "Bobby" passed on Friday, April 2, 2004.

Funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 6, at 1 p.m. from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Corinth, with remains placed in state at noon. The Rev. Johnny Strickland, pastor officiating. Interment in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, Greenville, Ga.

Fred Bobby Reeves, Jr. was born on May 16, 1945 in Meriwether County, Ga., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred and Julia Reeves. He joined Fellowship Baptist Church in Greenville at an early age. He was united in holy matrimony to Ruthie Mae Dallas on Nov. 6, 1976 and one child was born Charlotte Reeves (LaLa).

Bobby was employed by Ansco Association Incorporated in Lithia Springs, Ga.

Survivors include daughter, Charlotte Reeves (LaLa), grandchildren Kala B. Reeves, DeAntoni Heard; sisters Shirley Wood (Hugh), Ruby Nell Reeves, Linda Hamilton (Perry), Lilly Mae Reeves; brother James Edward Reeves; uncle Robert Stephens; aunt Evelyn Reeves; special friend Frances Langford; and a host of other relatives and friends. Family received friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. On the day of the service the cortege assembled at 352 Welcome-Arnco Road at 12 noon.
