Mrs. Jewell Winkles
Mrs. Jewell Winkles of Sharpsburg died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at Beaulieu Convalescent Center.
She was born
in Alabama City, Al., on October 30, 1920, to Orville and Cordia (Wood) Collett.
She was a retired electrolysis instructor and technician. She was proficient in doing all kinds of needlework.
Mrs. Winkles was the reigning "Mrs. NurseCare" of Buckhead. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Winkles.
Surviving are her daughter, JoAnn Freeman of Sharpsburg; sons, James W. Cox Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Baxley, and Bernard Alan Winkles and his wife, Patsy, of Newnan; a sister, Dorothy Mathis; grandchildren, Marlon Cox, Randy Cox, Eddie Cox, Shane Cox, Marty Cox, Stacy Freeman, Susan Freeman Fleming and Kyle Bethune; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today at 12 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel with Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Higgins Hillcrest Chapel.

Mr. William T. Bryan Jr., 85, of Groveland, Mass. died Monday, April 19, 2004 at Weymouth Healthcare Center in Weymouth, Mass.
Mr. Bryan was born
Jan. 30, 1919 in Turin to the late William Thomas and Artie Lee (Stephenson) Bryan. He was educated in Sharpsburg.
Mr. Bryan served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the 45th Infantry Division, 189th Field Artillery Battalion. He saw action in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany.
During his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star and two Oak Leaf Clusters for heroic achievement, as well as the Purple Heart.
Mr. Bryan had been employed by Lucent Technologies Inc. in North Andover, Mass., formerly Western Electric Company. He previously was employed by Ryan Chrysler-Plymouth Auto Sales Company in Haverhill.
His wife, Madeline C. Garaventa Bryan, died Feb. 24, 1999. Mr. Bryan was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Groveland.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 22, from 4-7 p.m. at C. Frank Linnehan and Sons Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill, Mass.
The funeral will be Friday, April 23, at 9 a.m. at Linnehan Funeral Home. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Groveland. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Groveland.
Survivors include sons, William T. Bryan III of Weymouth, Francis P. Bryan of Groveland; daughter, Virginia L. Zide of Everett, Mass.; sisters, Alethia Falls of Sharpsburg; brothers, Pope Bryan, Jack Bryan, both of Sharpsburg; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Buddy Gillentine
Mr. Jack "Buddy" Gillentine died Monday, April 19, 2004 at his home in Sharpsburg surrounded by family and friends.
Mr. Gillentine loved family, friends, golf, travel, NASCAR and working on his home and yard. He was a Delta Airlines employee for more than 25 years.
The family expressed thanks to their many friends for their kind support.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 22, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, 135 Senoia Rd., Peachtree City. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Thomas Edwin "Tommy" Northcutt, 63, died April 18, 2004 in Biloxi, Miss.
Mr. Northcutt was born
April 14, 1941 in Shelby County, Ala., son of A. C. and Catherine (White) Northcutt. He was self-employed as a drywall contractor.
He loved fishing and auto racing and loved to visit casinos.
Visitation was held Monday at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral was Tuesday, April 20, in the chapel of Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Rhodes Skinner officiating. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Julia Marie Grantham, 86, of Newnan died at her home early Monday morning, April 19, 2004 after an extended illness.
Mrs. Grantham was born
in 1917 in Clayton County to the late William and Julia Lee. She was married
in 1938 to Robert Hardy Grantham and became a homemaker.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Forest Park where she taught Sunday school classes. Mrs. Grantham loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Grantham was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Amy Cheryl Troha.
She will be remembered as a giving person who always helped someone in need. She had a passion for gardening and enjoyed the beauty of her yard and flowers.
Mrs. Grantham's family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21, at Jones Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hazel Stamps Porter, 89, of Grantville died Sunday, April 18, 2004 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
Mrs. Porter was born
Feb. 3, 1915 in Newnan, daughter of the late Cletus and Cuma Hopkins Stamps. She was a lifelong resident of Coweta County and a member of First United Methodist Church of Grantville.
Mrs. Porter was retired from Playtex International. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roy Lynwood Hopson and Forrest Clinton "Jack" Porter.

Mr. Lawrence Randal Lewis, 52, of Grantville, Ga., died Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
He was born
July 2, 1951 in Coweta County, son of Joseph Z. Lewis and Syble (Wessinger) Lewis. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by daughter, Holly Lynn (Lewis) Cruce and husband P. J. and their daughter Amber of Hogansville, Ga.; three sons, Brad Lewis of LaGrange, Ga., Patrick Hendrix of LaGrange, Ga. and Tracy Hendrix of Pine Mountain, Ga. He has four sisters, Martha Caswell and husband Robert of Opelika, Ala., Violet Miles and husband David of Newnan, Sandra Estep and husband Bob of Moreland, and Ruth Goss and husband Dorsey of Luthersville. There are two brothers, Tim Lewis of Newnan, Ga. and Joe Lewis Jr. and wife Lynn of Jacksonville, Ala. Preceding him in death were his brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Vickie Lewis and James and Ann Lewis.
