Hawkins Hogan
Juanita Edwards Hawkins Hogan, age 94, of Pine Mountain, Georgia, formerly of Jonesboro died June 25, 2009. She was born
in Pike County, Alabama to the late Elbert Jackson Edwards, Sr. and Lillie Mae Beverly Ed-wards. Juanita was preceded in death by husbands, William Earl Hawkins, Sr. and Elwin Hogan and by sons, William Earl Hawkins, Jr. and Gilbert Daniel Hawkins. She was a retired beautician, a member of the Jodeco Baptist Church and was a volunteer chaplain at Christian City.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Barney of Pine Mountain; grandchildren, William Earl Hawkins, III of Chesterfield, Virginia, Tracy Hawkins of Melbourne, Florida, Naomi Martuzas of McDonough, Benjamin Hamilton of McDonough; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Wilborn of Sharpsburg and Mildred Mitchell of Mableton; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted June 27 from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, Rev. Steve Murell officiating. Interment at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home, 770-914-8833.
Terriell F. Whittington
Terriell F. “T-Man” Whittington, age 72, of McDonough, Georgia, died June 28, 2009. He was born
in Barnesville to the late Cecil and Christine Mc-Broom Whittington and was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Whittington. He served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Living Faith Tabernacle in Forest Park. After retiring with 20 years with American Mills, he was an insurance agent with Independent Life for 10 years. “T-Man” was an avid golfer and professional billiard player, having made the Top 25 list in the world.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Georgia Gasses Whittington; his son and his fiancé, Chris (Dana Leonard) Whittington all of McDonough.
Funeral services were conducted July 1, from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, Pastor Chris Bowen and Pastor Shyrod Taylor officiating. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery

Timothy Dean Cochran
Timothy Dean Cochran, age 49 of Locust Grove, Georgia, passed away June 28, 2009. Tim was born
in Atlanta to Alice Maedean Dickson Cochran and the late Clinton J. Cochran. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a truck driver. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking and joking a-round with his family and friends.
Survivors include his companion, Marilyn McClain of Locust Grove; children, Kristina (Joshua McCaleb) Cochran of Le-banon, Tennessee, Amy Marie Cochran and Timothy Ray Cochran, both of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Bran-don Joseph McCaleb and Brianna Nicole Cochran; mother, Alice Cochran of McDonough; uncle, Billy (Madelyn) Dickson of Covington; aunt, Donna Marie Cook of Stockbridge.
Funeral services were conducted July 1 from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, Pastor Vanessa Milligan officiating. Interment at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery

Olin Thomas Greer
Olin Thomas Greer, 58, of Turtletown, Tennessee, died June 28, 2009. Born on July 19, 1950 in High Falls, Georgia, he was son of Olin Thomas Greer, Sr. and Mary Lee Greer of Griffin. He was preceded in death by his father Olin Thomas Greer, Sr., daughter, Kelli Clare, grandchildren, E.B. Sharp, Jr. and Lylee Greer.
Survivors include wife, Elon Greer of Turtletown, Tennessee; sons, Tommy Greer (Kanitta) of Jackson, John Greer (Shannon) of McDonough, Shane Greer (Cheryl) of Broadlands, Virginia, Adam Greer of Turtletown, Tennessee; daughters, Kassi Smith (Tim) of Turtletown, Tennessee, Karri Sharp (E.B.) of Mableton; mother, Mary Lee Lewis of Griffin; brothers, Robert Greer (Ellen) of Sylvester, Raymond Greer (Vicki) of Marietta, Joel Greer of Griffin; sisters, Linda Faye Brown of Largo, Florida, Mary Ann Green (Melvin) of Griffin, Darlene Evans (Dwight) of Griffin; 29 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends who loved him dearly.
A celebration of Olin’s life was held on July 3 at Heritage Baptist Church in Locust Grove. Cremation Society of the South at Eagle’s Landing.
Alva Orton Inman
Alva Orton Inman, age 69, of Morrow, Georgia, died June 29, 2009. Mrs. Inman was born
in Lufkin, Texas . She was employed by the State of Georgia as a clerk with the House of Representatives. Ms. Inman was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter and sister who loved her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, reading and traveling. She was a member of the Clayton County Pilot Club. She was a member of Isle of Hope Baptist Church in Savannah. She cooked for the Morrow First United Methodist Church. Her father, George Paul Orton preceded her in death.
Survivors are her children, Becki Goodwin (Holkie) of Can-ton, Robert Inman Jr of Coving-ton, Michael Inman (Cassie) of McDonough; mother, Dot Orton of Savannah; grandchildren, Matthew Goodwin (Jennifer), Marci Goodwin, Jake Inman, Madison Inman and Savannah Inman; brother, Ray Orton (Frances) of Atlanta; sister, Bet-tie Anne Blitch (David) of Savannah; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Inman were July 3 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Ed Judy officiating. Interment at Hillcrest Abbey Cemetery

Shirley Ann Bryant Adcock
Shirley Ann Bryant Adcock, age 73, of McDonough, Georgia, died June 30, 2009. Mrs. Ad-cock was born
in Fulton County, the daughter of the late Bertha Lala Johnson and Milton Cecil Bryant. She was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed watching TV and movies.
Survivors are her children, Phyllis Thompson (Marshall) of Covington, Patricia Powell (Charles) of Fayetteville, Sandy Kelley (David) of McDonough, William C. Adcock Jr. (Stepha-nie) of Conyers; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl Bryant of Douglasville and Eddie Bryant of A-thens; several nieces and nephews.

Billy R. Nail, Ph.D
Billy R. (Buddy) Nail, Ph. D, of McDonough, Georgia, died June 30, 2009. Dr. Nail was born
in Roby, Texas , the son of the late Helen Juanita Parker and Radney Harmon Nail. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Hardin Simmons University, his MA and Ph .D in Mathematics in 1962 and 1967, Retired as a Professor Emeritus in 1995 and was a former Dean of Clay-ton State College. He served as President of the GA Div. of the American Cancer Society during the mid 1980’s, has been an ordained Baptist Deacon since 1957, and taught Sunday School for most of his adult life. Dr. Nail was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, and the Wednesday Morning Coffee Group. His love was being with his family, serving in his church, working on the computer, teaching, and sharing his sense of humor. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marion N. Crowder.
Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Glenda C. Nail of McDonough; daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha Baker of Washing-ton DC, Vicky N. and Dennis Palmer of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Penny S. and Gary Kelley of McDonough; grandchildren, Natalie Preston (Dru), Jay Holbrook (Lauryn), Ryan Kelley (Megan), Chris Holbrook (Jessica), and Rachel Moore (Rob); 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Bonita A. Martin (Coy) of Lubbock, Texas ; sister-in-law, Pat Stanton (Jay) of Lubbock, Texas , brother-in-law, J. T. Campbell Jr. of Dallas, Texas ; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Dr. Nail were July 3 at Bethany Baptist Church, with Rev. Al O’Quinn officiating. Interment at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the Billy R. Leona Googe Minor
Leona Googe Minor, age 93, of McDonough, Georgia, died June 30, 2009. Mrs. Minor was born
in Hazlehurst, the daughter of the late Sally Mae Tyson and John Melvin Googe. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed her family, her church family and friends. She also enjoyed working in her garden. Mrs. Mi-nor was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She retired after working with the Civil Service for 30-plus years. Her husband, Edward Lamar Minor; daughter, Barbara Jean Gromme; and six sisters preceded her in death.
Survivors are her son, John Oliver Johnson of McDonough; grandchildren, Tom Gromme of Charleston, South Carolina, Marcia Clark of Bend, Oregon, Scott Gromme of McDonough, Mike Johnson of McDonough and Chuck Johnson of Atlanta; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen McDermott of Fernandina Beach, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles Ray Harrison, Sr.
Charles Ray Harrison, Sr., age 78, of Locust Grove, Georgia died July 1, 2009. Mr. Harrison was born
in Etowah, Tennessee, the son of the late Gussie Daniel and Joel Harrison. Mr. Harrison and his wife own and operate the Harley-Davidson of Clayton County. He was a member of the Henry County Shrine Club and the Rex #251 Masonic Lodge. He retired from Complete Auto Transport in 1992. He enjoyed motorcycles, casinos, NASCAR and spending time with his family and friends. Charles was preceded in death by all of his siblings.
Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Coweta Harrison of Locust Grove; children, Belinda and Tod Sheirling of Locust Grove, Ava and Billy Turner of Forest Park, Lisa Harrison Hart of Hampton, and Charles R. and Dawn Harrison Jr., of Sharps-burg; grandchildren, James Bryson, Jr., Randall Hart, Nicholas Hart, Meagan Crawford, Michelle Hickman and William Turner Jr., and several nieces and nephews.

Alexus Wood
Alexus Wood, age 7, of Stockbridge died July 1, 2009. Alexus was born
and raised in Henry County. Our beloved angel will be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving parents, Regina Wood and Jacob Bryan, both of Stockbridge; brothers, Austin Wood and Jordan Duran; maternal grandparents, Rita and Gary Wood, paternal grandparents, Jerry and Marlena Cook.

Master James Adam Goodwin, Jr., age 1, of Locust Grove, Georgia, died July 1, 2009. He was born
in Stockbridge on July 11, 2007.
He is survived by his parents, James Adam and Erica Good-win, Sr. of Locust Grove, sister: Laura Nicole Goodwin; grandparents, Bruce and Karen Thompson, McDonough, Melitta Williams, Dawsonville, Rick Burk, Dawsonville; great-grandmother, Margie Hendry, Jonesboro; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
