Mr. Walter L. (Roy) Eason
Mr. Walter L. (Roy) Eason, 69, of Grantville, Ga., died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004 at his home.

Mr. Eason was born May 14, 1934 in Coweta County, son of the late Carl Monroe Eason and the late Sallie Strickland Eason. He was a lifelong resident of Coweta County, was a member of the Baptist faith, and was a member of the Newnan Moose Club. He retired from Griffin Industries in Conley.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Betty Plant Eason of Grantville; daughter, Bekki Komas of Wendell, N.C.; four sons and their wives, Mitch and Jenine Eason of Peachtree City, Ricky and Dawn Eason of Raleigh, N.C., Greg Griffies of Ellijay, and Rick and Annette Griffies of Jasper; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Cammon and Mrs. Maybelle Capes, both of Moreland; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25 in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Ed Wyatt and the Rev. Jimmie Willis will officiate and Interment will be in the Grantville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Henry Eugene "Pop" Nix
Mr. Henry Eugene "Pop" Nix of Newnan, Ga., died Feb. 22, 2004 at Southwest Christian Hospice.

Mr. Nix, a U.S. Army veteran, was retired from American Can Company where he worked in the finishing department. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Sheffield Nix.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Judy Martin of Newnan; daughter, Claudia Ballenger of Newnan; grandchildren, Chris Allen and Michael Martin.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 1 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel with Rev. L. G. Gilstrap officiating. Interment is in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation was Monday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Ms. Rachel Denise Weaver
Rachel Denise Weaver, age 31, of Newnan, formerly of Florence, Ala., died at Atlanta Hospice early Saturday morning, Feb. 21, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer. Ms. Weaver was born in 1972 in Decatur, Ala. where she grew up and graduated from West Morgan High School. Rachel was an outgoing, popular girl who was athletic and active in all sports. She especially enjoyed being the head cheerleader in Morgan High in addition to ice skating, water skiing and just having fun. Rachel attended Cokes Chapel United Methodist Church.

Ms. Weaver is survived by a son Braedon Weaver; a daughter Brianna Baker; her father Mr. Phil Looney and his wife Linda of Trinity Ala.; her mother Catherine Fay Looney and her husband Glendon Carpenter of Florence, Ala.; and paternal grandparents Olin and Blanche Looney of Athens, Ala.

The family received friends at Jones Funeral Home, 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004. The funeral service will be at Jones Funeral Home Chapel at 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 23, 2004 with Pastor John Hagen officiating. Interment will follow at Cokes Chapel UMC Cemetery in Sharpsburg. Jones Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ramona Lucile (Johnston) Gray
Mrs. Ramona Lucile (Johnston) Gray, 73, of Senoia, Ga., died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004 at Newnan Hospital.

She was born May 24, 1930 in Macon, Ga., daughter of the late Albert Hugh and Mildred Mercer Johnston. She was a member of Turin Baptist Church. Her life was dedicated to providing a loving home for her husband and children.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas Alvin Gray; son, James H. Gray of Fayetteville, Ga.; daughters, Vickie Kenney of Senoia, Karen Whitling of Sandersville, Ga., Kathleen Hulgan of Senoia, Ga. and Kathryn Gray of Hogansville, Ga. There are nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, Ga., where the family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21. Funeral service will be at Turin Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. Rev. John McDuffie officiating. Interment will be at Turin Memorial Garden in Turin, Ga.

Mrs. Sue Dailey Waters
Mrs. Sue Dailey Waters of Newnan, Ga., died Feb. 19, 2004. Survived by her husband of 37 years, Lewis C. Waters Jr.; children, Christopher Scott and Leah Hodge Waters of McDonough, Lisa Michelle Waters of Newnan; mother, Mattie Dailey of Riverdale; sister, Shirley and Larry Robinson of Greenville, Ga.; grandson, Christopher Shelby Wters; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are Sunday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home wiht Rev. E. C. Chatham officiating. Interment in King Cemetery in Riverdale. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Lois Beatrice Bedenbaugh Wilson
Mrs. Lois Beatrice Bedenbaugh Wilson, 87, of Senoia, Ga., died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004 at her residence. She was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church and was formerly employed at the Georgia Experiment Station. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Wilson in 1982.

Surviving are her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Bedenbaugh; nieces, Melanie White, Bonnie Thompson, Peggy Simon and Barbara Christian; nephews, Richard Bedenbaugh and Fred Bedenbaugh Jr.

Mrs. Ruth (Morris) Storey
Mrs. Ruth (Morris) Storey, 80, of Newnan, Ga., died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004. she was born Sept. 18, 1923 in Heard County, Ga., daughter of the late James. T. and Ruby (Millians) Morris. A homemaker for her family, she had also been employed at Kessler's Department Store in Newnan. She was a member of Newnan First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Ray Storey; a daughter, Elaine Storey Houston; and a son-in-law, Phil Garner.

Surviving are her daughter, and Phil's wife, Beverly Storey Garner of Newnan, Ga.; sister, Linda M. Boswell; two brothers, Thomas Morris and Freddy Morris; grandchildren, David P. Garner and his wife Tammy, Scott O. Garner and his wife Jennifer, and Brian C. Houston and his wife Jean; great-grandchildren Hillary Elaine Garner, Abigail Michelle Garner, Scott Owen Garner Jr. and Alexander Chaise Houston.

Mrs. Myrtle (Morris) Winkles
Mrs. Myrtle (Morris) Winkles, 79, of Sharpsburg, Ga., died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Jim Morris and Lula (White) Morris. She was a member of Bible Outreach Church. Mrs. Winkles was retired from The Bibb Co. She was preceded in death by a son, Karl C. Winkles in 1969.

Surviving are her husband, Oscar C. Winkles; two daughters, Carolyn Patterson and her husband Billy, and Mildred Key and her husband Danny; grandchildren, Tina Jones and her husband Gary and Tim Key. Her great-grandchild is Brandon Jones. Also surviving are two sisters, Beulah Griffies and Lilliar Skinner. Her brother is Toi Morris.

Mrs. Gail R. Hagans of Fayetteville, Ga., died Feb. 14, 2004. Survived by her husband of 23 years, Harold Hagans; children, Norma Callaway of Cleveland, TN, Rebecca Sloan of Sharpsburg, Deborah Torma of Newnan; sisters, Reba Boyt of Thomaston, Evelyn Scroggins of Macon; brother, Joel Rogers of Thomaston; 8 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley with Minister Billy Rowe officiating. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Tony Marvin Wright, 47, of Newnan, died Monday, February 16, 2004. He was born June 20, 1956 in Fulton County, the son of Lawrence Andrew Craig and Lois Berry Wright.

Survivors include his wife, Elanor Holloway Wright; four daughters, Carol Skidmore, Dorothy Dunlap, Paula Johnston and Audrey Swensen; four sons, Clifford Coursey, Ronnie Coursey, Chad Maceri and Tony Coursey; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Stret, Newnan, where the funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at 6 p.m. Reverend Jimmy Fleming officiated.

Mrs. Margaret Elaine Butts
Mrs. Margaret Elaine Butts, 53, of Newnan, Ga., died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004 at her residence. She was a textile worker at Dan Rivers Corporation. She was preceded in death by parents Ivy Wade Dennis Sr. and Edna Bell Dennis.

Surviving are her husband, Earnest Butts of Newnan; two daughters, Michelle and Jason Moore of Houston, Texas , and Teresa and Keith Smith of Little Rock, Ark.; sister, Frances Skinner of Opelika, Ala.; two brothers, Paul Dennis of Opelika, Ala., and Ivy Wayne Dennis of Raleigh, N.C.; six grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Wade Conner, Chris Smith, Jimmy Butts, Keith Smith and Jason Moore.

Mr. Donald Everette Heath
Mr. Donald Everette Heath, 51, of Newnan, Ga., passed Feb. 14, 2004 at Newnan Hospital. Remains were cremated. Mr. Heath was born May 5, 1952 to Mr. and Mrs. Jim (Nora) Heath. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Jim Heath. He attended Howard Warner High School and had various construction jobs.

Surviving are daughters, Quinnie Demetria (William Emikola) Richardson M.D., Bashe Heath, Rasheedah Heath and Ashley Flagg; mother, Mrs. Nora Elom; sisters, Nell (Edward) Jordan, Arlena (Hubert) Hart, and Lesley-Ann Heath; grandchildren, Folasuy, Allinbola, Olatunde, Orisha Mola, Adeshola, Olage, Breanna and Braden and a host of other relatives and friends.

Lauri Rey, 53, of Iowa City, Iowa, and formerly of the Coweta County area, died at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004 following a brief illness.

Memorial services 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Judy Gingerich officiating. Burial at Oakland Cemetery. Lauri was born Jan. 5, 1951 in Santiago, Cuba, daughter of Alfredo and Carmen Rey. She came to the United States at 9 and moved to Iowa shortly afterward. She graduated from Ames High School in 1969 and the University of Iowa College of Nursing in 1977. She married Randy Brown Sept. 19, 1976 in Iowa City.

Lauri was a nurse at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in an adult psychiatry unit 1987 to 2001, then in OR, and most recently in a maternity unit. From 1981-1987, she worked at Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta, Ga.

She is survived by her former husband, Randy Brown and their daughter Kathleen Brown of Iowa City and their son Grant Brown of Chengdu, China; her mother, Carmen Rey; her brother, Roberto Rey; and her sister-in-law, Anne Miller, all of Chicago. Lauri was preceded in death by her father.

Mrs. Marie Hodge
Mrs. Marie Hodge of Newnan died Feb. 14, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Hodge, a homemaker, was born in Coweta County Dec. 23, 1925 to David and Dollie (Gray) Otwell. She was a member of Victory Tabernacle.

Surviving are her husband Harold Hodge of Newnan; sons George A. Fisher of Newnan, Joseph Mike Fisher of Alabama; daughter-in-law Betty Fisher of North Carolina; sisters Ruth Estep of Newnan and Evelyn Chase of Newnan; grandchildren Robbie Fisher, Angela Moran, Amy Mace, Mike Fisher; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004 at 4 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel with Rev. Terry Calhoun officiating; Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Terrell, Rhonda Ramey, Ferrell Norton, Michael Moran, Tim Patterson and Alan Pettite. Visitation will be Monday, 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Charles (Chuck) Ledbetter
Mr. Charles (Chuck) Ledbetter of Newnan died Feb. 14, 2004 at Piedmont Hospital. Mr. Ledbetter, a self-employed cabinet maker, was born in Coweta County on May 14, 1959, to Charles and Laura Ledbetter. He was preceded in death by his father. He loved wood carving, fishing, hunting and photography.

Surviving are his mother, Laura Ledbetter of Newnan; sisters Marie and Jerry Wynn of Moreland, Kahty Ledbetter of Hogansville and Susan Huddleston of Newnan; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel with Rev. Lindsey Maxwell officiating; Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 5-9 at the funeral home. Higgins Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan.

Mr. Cecil Leon "Mac" McBurnett III
Mr. Cecil Leon "Mac" McBurnett III, age 33, of Sharpsburg, Ga., died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004 at Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Ga.

He was the son of Cecil McBurnett Jr. of Newnan, Ga. and Linda Stowers of Sharpsburg, Ga.

He is also survived by his wife Kimberly McBurnett of Sharpsburg, Ga.; three sisters Angela Mathis of Jonesboro, Ga., Pamela Callahan of Sharpsburg, Ga., and Sunny McBurnett of Grantville, Ga.; one brother Jason McBurnett of Grantville, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, Ga., where the family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004. Funeral service will be at McKoon Funeral Home at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, Rev. John Riley officiating. Interment will be at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Newnan, Ga.

Mr. James Albert Roberson
Mr. James Albert Roberson, 78, of Grantville, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004 at Hospice LaGrange.

The funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 17, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Ed Wyatt will officiate and Interment will be in the Grantville Cemetery.

Mr. Roberson was born July 14, 1925, in Seneca, South Carolina, son of the late Lewis Jefferson Roberson and the late Wilma Newton Roberson. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Roberson had lived in Grantville since 1955 and was a member of the Baptist faith. He was a retired carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Nina Vaughn Roberson of Grantville; one daughter Hilda Williamson of Newnan; three sons Danny Roberson of Pine Mountain, Bobby Roberson of Grantville and Jerry Roberson of Augusta; one sister Lois Adams of Greenville; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. James Harrison Baggarly Jr.
Mr. James Harrison Baggarly Jr., 70, of Sharpsburg, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004.

He was born in Charlotte, N. C. on Nov. 23, 1933, and was preceded in death by his parents, James Harrison Baggarly Sr. and Rubye Rives Baggarly.

After graduating from Newnan High School, he served in the U.S. Army for three years and attended Georgia Tech. He was a 28-year employee of Bearings and Drives Inc.

He was a member of the Senoia United Methodist Church, the Senoia Lions Club, the board of directors of Farmers and Merchants Bank and the treasurer of the Senoia Downtown Development Authority.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. at Senoia United Methodist Church, with Rev. Steve Davidson, Rev. Dan McFarland and Rev. Don Welch officiating. Burial will follow at Senoia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, Feb. 16 at McKoon Funeral Home, between 6 and 8 p.m. Frank Hollberg, Jim Barnette Jr., Jimmy Hutchinson, Butch Reese, Tom Dunlap and Ellis Crook will serve as pallbearers. Jim Barnette III, Jeff Jarrell, Cary Hamilton, Darren Black and the Senoia Lions Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Survivors include wife, Glenda Kelly Baggarly of Sharpsburg; sons, James Harrison Baggarly III of Senoia and Todd Ayers Baggarly of Atlanta; and granddaughter, Jesse Hayden Baggarly of Senoia.

Survivors include husband, Earnest Butts; two daughters, Michelle and Jason Moore of Houston, Texas , and Terresa and Keith Smith of Little Rock, Ark; one sister, Frances Skinner of Opelika, Ala.; two brothers, Paul Dennis of Opelika, Ala. and Wayne Dennis of Raleigh, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
