Oct. 19, 1966 in Sharpsburg, Ga. He graduated from Newnan High School in 1985. His father, Mr. Charles Brooks, preceded him in death.
He leaves to celebrate his homegoing one child, Shantay Newson; mother, Frances Melson Brooks; brother, Paul (Patricia) Gay; sisters, Louella Melson and Oretha Lindsey; one niece; two nephews; very special friends, Teresa Russell, Will Young and Dixon Lindsey; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Bliss Clampett
Mrs. Bliss Clampett, 83, of Lanett, Ala., died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003 at Lanier Memorial Hospital.
She was born
in Chambers County, Ala., Nov. 23, 1919, daughter of the late Maud Price Mobley and Charlie Mobley. Mrs. Clampett had lived in the Valley area most of her life and had been in declining health for the past several years. She was formerly employed with Playtex Corp., having worked in the Newnan, Ga. and LaFayette plants.
Surviving are son, Charles Clampett, Rock Sand, Ala.; sister, Clarice Gresham, Lanett; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 at Hillcrest Cemetery
in Lanett with Rev. Rusty Leston officiating.

Mr. William Samuel "Bill" Lifsey
Mr. William Samuel "Bill" Lifsey, 99, of Newnan, Ga., died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003 at Southwest Christian Hospice in Union City, Ga.
He was born
Jan. 1, 1904 in Meansville, Ga., son of the late William Samuel Lifsey Sr. and the late Obediah Smith Lifsey. He was first married
to Willie Maude Arthur Lifsey of Meansville and later married
for 53 years to the late Dot Ida Kite Lifsey. Mr. Lifsey was with the Railway Postal Service for 38 years and was a Deacon Emeritus at First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife; two sons, James T. Lifsey and Samuel Lifsey; and daughter, Doris LifseyAndrews.
Surviving are daughter, Frances Lifsey Perry and Bill of Columbia, S.C.; daughter-in-law, Sarah Lifsey of Young Harris, Ga.; son, John David and Mae Lifsey of Atlanta, Ga. and son-in-law, NatAndrews of Jasper, Ga.; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Narvell Purgason Cash, 64, of Hogansville, Ga., died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
Mrs. Cash was born
Dec. 30, 1938, daughter of the late Curtis and Ora Abner Purgason. She lived in Hogansville most of her life and was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include her husband, Grady Cash of Hogansville; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Shane Spradley of Hogansville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randy and Linda Cash of Butler and David Cash of Hogansville; three sisters, Doris Strickland of Marietta, Elaine Milliner of Tifton, and Millie Smith of Hogansville; brother, Edward Purgason of Newnan; five grandchildren, Jana Cash, Tyler Cash, Jonathan Purgason, Meghan Cash and T. Mr. Jack I. Perry
Mr. Jack I. Perry, 84, of Newnan, Ga., died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003 at Newnan Hospital. He was born
July 14, 1919 in Dallas, TX to the late John and Birdie Williams Perry. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Cecil Perry; and his sister, Marguerite Perry Jones.
A veteran of World War II, he served his country as a glider pilot. He owned the Burger Basket Restaurant in Newnan for many years. Mr. Perry was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed racing, animals, and most of all his family. He cherished his friends and acquaintances from Grace Community Fellowship Church.
The funeral will be Thursday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funenral Home with Rev. Carl Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Sara Elizabeth Blair, 76, of Cumming, Ga., died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003 in an Atlanta hospital.
She was born
Nov. 3, 1927 in Gwinnett County to the late Vertis H. and Clarene Jarrard Knight. Mrs. Blair was retired from Con Agra Foods, and was of the Baptist faith.
Among her other accomplishments, Mrs. Blair enjoyed sewing and quilting and was well-known to her family and friends as a great cook.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Willie Leon Blair.

Jan. 15, 1910 in Coweta County, daughter of the late Bert and Elizabeth Morrison Attaway. A lifelong resident of Coweta County, she retired from Grantville Hosiery Mills and from West Point Pepperell Manufacturing Co. in Newnan. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church and was the wife of the late Rufus R. Payne.
Survivors include three sons, The Rev. Melvin Payne and his wife, Mildred, and Joe Payne and his wife, Linda, all of Newnan, and Charles Payne of Okeechobee, Fla.; sister, Mrs. Edna Smith of Newnan; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Warren Bailey, age 81, of Senoia, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at Fayette Community Hospital.
Mr. Bailey was born
April 22, 1922, to the late William Austin Bailey and Sara Frances Brittain Bailey. He was retired from Ford Motor Company and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He was also a former post commander in the American Legion post in Senoia.
Funeral services for Mr. Bailey will be today at 4 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. The Rev. Fred Koshorn will officiate, and internment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Carolyn Doster, 81, wife of the late Samuel Lee Doster, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Thomson Manor, Thomson, Ga. Funeral services will be private.
Mrs. Doster was a native of Milledgeville, but had lived much of her life in Claxton. She was a Wave in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was a retired nurse and homemaker. Mrs. Doster was a member of the First Baptist Church , Thomson.
Survivors include her son, Samuel Doster, Newnan; sister, Mrs. Harriette Lovelace, Thomson; two grandchildren, Samantha Doster, Will Doster, both of Newnan.

Mrs. Susie Emmaline Gable, 48, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday night, Dec. 10, 2003 at Newnan Hospital. Mrs. Gable was born
in Austell, Ga. to Henry and Doris Loner, Susie loved life, her family, and playing practical jokes. Although her years were limited, she spent her life caring for others and placing their needs before hers. A Christian by faith, she attended the Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a warm and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Marshall Gable; her father, Henry Loner; two sons, Donnie Hudgens and Jeffery Hudgens, and their father, Alfred Hudgens; four daughters, Elaine Sims, Pamela Gable, Christi Gable and Betty Gable; two brothers, Herbet Loner and Alvin Loner; two sisters, Gail Spradlin and Donna Gable; 11 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Mr. Robert Oliver Hall, 74, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003 at Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville, Ga.

Mr. Hall was a native of Roanoke, Ala., but made his home in Newnan, Ga., for 29 years. He was retired from Kroger management after 42 years of service. He was the son of the late Annie Mae Hollst. He was a member of Mills Chapel Baptist Church. You will be missed by all who survived you.

Mrs. Herron was born
into a close-knit family March 6, 1947 in Newnan, Coweta County, Ga. Her parents, Alton Maddox Sr., a minister, and Nicie S. Maddox, an educator, taught Gloria and her older brother, Alton Jr., to give great deference to the twin pillars of life: ethics and knowledge.
At an early age, Gloria entered into a lifetime commitment to Christianity by being baptized and becoming a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist church, the early home church of her mother's family. This early church affiliation spanned her religious horizon and, subsequently, enabled her to focus on the salvation of all human beings.
Through Christianity, Gloria was an accomplished singer, missionary and evangelist inspiring others to embrace the powers of faith, hope and charity and elevating the word of God to a path to righteousness and happiness. Her favorite biblical passage can be found in Psalms 24:7-10.
After attending the public schools in Coweta County and graduating from Central High School in Newnan in 1964, Gloria followed in the footsteps of her mother by matriculating at Fort Valley State College and subsequently graduating from this deeply-rooted teacher's college in 1968.
Like her mother, she returned to Coweta County and spent her entire educational career in its public schools. She was an outstanding teacher, educator, administrator and consultant. Her career in Coweta County started as a teacher at Moreland Elementary School and ended as principal of Fairmount School.
After retirement from the Coweta County Public Schools in 1998, the Georgia Department of Education encouraged Gloria to become a consultant with a special emphasis on giving guidance to educating troubled children. She was not afraid of coping with life's challenges and, in education, she developed an outstanding record for giving to the lives of children a sense of self-worth, purpose and discipline.
Despite her educational achievements and awards including advanced degrees from State University of West Georgia, Gloria wore neither her achievements nor her positions on her sleeve. She sought to be judged by the contents of her character and not by her social or educational positions. Like her mother, she put great emphasis on addressing the problems and elevating the triumphs of common people without fanfare.
In addition to rearing her son, Ed, she cherished her longtime marriage to Willie Murry. He was her constant companion in performing not only her educational obligations but also her religious duties in addition to family responsibilities. This companionship continued until he made his transition from the physical realm to the spiritual realm in 1995.
Against marital odds. Gloria was blessed with meeting Julius Herron who had already committed his life to pursuing the path of Jesus Christ in working on behalf of the needy, the infirm, the despised and those persons who were seeking the word of God. On April 2, 1997, Gloria and Julius were united in holy matrimony.
They were co-partners in Christ and in social activism. She aided her husband in giving impetus to a municipal resolution successfully changing the name of "McIntosh Street" in Newnan to "Martin Luther King Jr. Drive" by coordinating and submitting the requisite number of signatures to the Newnan City Council.
Gloria and Julius had also embarked on an effort to assist the "Powell Chapel School Restoration Project" sponsored by the African American Alliance Inc. This one room schoolhouse was built in 1937 and it is the oldest educational structure established and still standing by people of African ancestry in the county. Gloria's mother was one of the school's earliest teachers.
Gloria made her transition from the physical realm to the spiritual realm Dec. 9, 2003 at approximately 6:40 a.m. after spending nearly three hours with her husband and her brother at her bedside at South Fulton Medical Center. Throughout her hospital stay, Julius was at her bedside and Gloria was at peace with herself, according to medical officials, once her brother joined her husband at her bedside.
She is survived by her husband, Julius Herron; her son, Ed Murry (Joran); one brother, Alton H. Maddox Jr. (Leola); six grandchildren; one nephew; nine aunts; one uncle; one grandniece; one grandnephew and a host of cousins.
