A funeral was Monday, July 7, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Dr. Tom Daughtery and Rev. John E. Jarrard officiating. Burial in Forest Lawn.

Mrs. Virginia Ruth Witcher
Mrs. Virginia Ruth Witcher, 76, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at Newnan Hospital West.
Mrs. Witcher was born
August 6, 1926 in Carroll County, Ga., daughter of the late Henry Clellon and Willie Beatrice Price Jones. Her life was dedicated to raising her children and being supportive of her husband's work and ministry. She was a dedicated member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Her activities in the church included teaching in Sunday School, directing the Sunbeams group, serving as a choir member and director and singing in her beloved ladies' trio. Her zeal for missions was characterized by her dedication to the Women's Mission Union, not only in her home church, but also in the Western Baptist Association.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Witcher was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Newton "Greg" Witcher.
Surviving are her husband, Rev. Powers Witcher; son, Charles C. "Chuck" Witcher; grandchildren, David, Julie and Ben Witcher and Katie Wrenn, and a daughter-in-law, Jennie Witcher. Surviving sisters are Margaret Young and her husband Dallas, Charlotte Warren, Janelle Cook and Joyce Velting. Her sister by marriage and in spirit is Thelma Jones. A brother, Billy Jones, also survives.
The family was receiving friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at McKoon Funeral Home.
A funeral will be at Macedonia Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Friday, July 11. Rev. John Riley officiating, with the remains placed in state at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery
in the Witcher family lot.

Mrs. Nellie Shepherd Woods of Westgate Park Lane, Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at Newnan Hospital.
A funeral will be Saturday, July 12, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church with remains placed in state at the church from 11:30 a.m. until the hour of the service. The Rev. J. W. Gibbons, pastor, Rev. Herman Dyer, officiating. Burial in Eastview Cemetery. Pallearers and Flower Ladies will be relatives and friends.
Mrs. Woods was born
Dec. 29, 1929 to the late Mr. Alton and Ella V. Smith Shepherd in Cartersville, Ga. (Bartow County).
Later she moved to Newnan and joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church as a younster where she remained a faithful member until her death. She married
Calvin Woods December 25, 1945 and they had four children.
Mrs. Woods was employed at Newnan Hospital as supervisor in the Environmental Service Department. She retired after 27 years of service. After her retirement from the hospital she found great satisfaction in nurturing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Nealite Social and Civic Club of Newnan. Her hobbies were traveling, sewing and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and sister, Claude McGhee, Alton Shepherd, Margaret Ruth Mitchell and granddaughter Tosha Woods.
Surviving are children, James C. Woods, Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. (Linda) Woods Sr., J. Elaine Beasley (Stanley), Janis Johnson; grandchildren, Charles Woods Jr., Shun Woods, Adrian Woods, Andrea Woods, Shayla Woods, Shannon Woods, Shanira Johnson, Deon Johnson, Carina Woods, Christopher Beasley, Rachel Woods, Sonya Walker (Thomas), Courtiney Geter (Marcus), Sabrina Harris; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Shepherd, Joyce Shepherd; brothers, James Shepherd, Joseph Shepherd; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5-7 p.m.

Mrs. Doris Lowery Gaddy, 82, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003 in Cheraw, S.C.
She was a daughter of the late Willie Clayton and Jamie Moore Lowery. She was the widow of Daniel Richard Gaddy. Mrs. Gaddy was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, McFarlan, N.C. She was retired from Delta Mills, Wallace, S.C., with 34 years of service.
Surviving are son, Richard "Dick" Gaddy of Columbia, S.C.; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynda Sturgill and Jim of Cheraw, S.C., and Dianne Robertson and Bill of Newnan, Ga.; grandchildren, Erin Gaddy of Columbia, S.C., and Kate Gaddy of Atlanta; sister, Haeeie Mae Rhynes Easterling of Cheraw, S.C.

Mrs. Barbara Anne (Westbrook) Jackson, 62, of Newnan, Ga., died Monday, July 7, 2003 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. following an illness of several weeks.
She was born
in Floyd County, Ga. April 9, 1941, daughter of Mural Christine Pitts Westbrook and the late Hugh Oulion Westbrook Sr. She was a member of Line Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her brother, Hugh Oulion Westbrook, Jr.
In addition to her mother, she is also survived by her husband, Dan Jackson of Newnan; daughter, Kelly Lashley and her husband David of Newnan, Ga.; grandchild, Megan Lashley of Newnan; sister, LaVern Westbook Anderson and her husband, Steve; brother, C. E. Westbrook; nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, Ga. where the family was receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 8.

Mrs. Nancy M. Casey, 83, died July 7, 2003.
She was born
August 22, 1919, and resided for 51 years on High Point Road, Union City, Ga.
In 2001 she made her home with her daughter in Sharpsburg. She retired from J.C. Penney after many years of service. She was born
in DeKalb County, Alabama, to Cynthia and John McPherson.
She is survived by twin daughters, Joan Casey (Gordon) Lineberry of Smoke Rise, Warrior, AL, and Jean Casey (Bobby) Adams of Sharpsburg; six grandchildren, Pamela (Frank) Pruett, Curtis (Paula) Lineberry, Stacey (Drew) Tucker, Casey (Laura) Lineberry, Melanie Adams, Bobby (Jennifer) Lineberry; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Willodean Green of McDonough, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Joseph Steven Eidson, 56, of Wedowee, Alabama, died at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL, on July 6, 2003.
A funeral will be held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Wedowee on Tuesday, July 8 at 1 p.m. The Reverend William Thompson will officiate. Survivors include his wife, Linda Eidson; two daughters, Tara Evans and Tonya Harbin; four sons, Samuel Eidson, Joseph Harbin, Stephen Harbin, and Brian Eidson; nine grandchildren; mother, Jane Eidson; one brother, Mike Eidson; three sisters, Carol Fox, Janice Erwin, Jenny Coley.
Mr. Eidson was preceded in death by his father Joe Stone Eidson.

Mrs. Beall was born
October 15, 1926 in Clay County, Ala. to the late E.H. and Eris King Mason. A resident of Hogansville most of her life, she was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was retired from Uniroyal, Inc. She was the wife of the late Frank Melvin Beall.

Mrs. Bedford was born
to the late William and Anna Hamilton Buckles on June 2, 1914. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Bedford.

Mr. John Ray Blankenship, 47, of Wildwood Circle, Griffin, died Thursday, July 3, 2003 at the Spalding Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Blankenship was born
in Fulton County on July 31, 1955 to the late John L. Blankenship. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the Westside Baptist Church in Mableton and was a cabinet maker.
Survivors include wife, Carolyn C. Blankenship; his mother, LaVerne Todd Blankenship; four children, Michael Blankenship, Michelle Blankenship,

Ms. Gates died on July 2, 2003. She was born
Dec. 15, 1967 in Coweta County. She was a member of The Piney Grove Baptist Church, when she joined at the age of five. She sung with The Chosen Few Gospel Group and a number of other Christian groups. She was a member of two Social clubs - The African Queen and The Bold and The Beautiful.
Survivors include her children, Nakeisha, Khadeidar and Demeturis; sister and brothers, Selina, Shemika, Courney, Jackie, Crystal, Emma,
Jermey, Mike Mike and Junebug; grandmothers, Ovenia Gates and Dorothy Price; her father, Harold Price; nieces, Kitty, Brittany and Sha Sha; a nephew, Drey; five aunts and four uncles; friends, Yasmeen (Kitty), Tsheika Green and Arlevia; and a special, devoted companion that was always supportive, Marcus Parks.

Nov. 19, 1913 in Tallapoosa County, Ala., daughter of the late Hillary and Minnie Brand Guy. She lived in Troup County most of her life, was a member of the Baptist Church, and was retired from the Hillside Division of Milliken and Company. She was the wife of the late James Fred Allen.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Flora Walters of LaGrange, Mrs. Betty Smith of Wetumpka, Ala., and Mrs. Geneva Maxwell of Hogansville; two sons, James Allenof Hogansville and Billy Wayne Allen of LaGrange; three brothers, Lewis Guy and Warren Guy, both of LaGrange, and Joe Guy of Newnan; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Julian Granberry, 87, of Newnan, Ga., died at his residence June 29, 2003.
He was born
in Heney County, Alabama, to James M. Granberry and Claudia Davis Granberry. He worked as a chef with Richmond Hotel and was a member of West Bethel Baptist Church.
Surviving are sons, Julian Granberry Jr. of Columbus, Ga., Robert L. Granberry of Newnan; daughters, Jackie McIntyre of West Hill, California, and Marie Gaddy of Newnan; sisters, Josey Givens of Columbus, Ga., and Mary Jim McGuirk of Atlanta; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Neighbors was born
March 11, 1922 in Heard County, son of the late Lonnie and Berta Eley Neighbors. A recipient of a Purple Heart for his service in the U.S. Army during World War Two, he had lived in Hogansvile since 1925 and retired as a rural mail carrier from the Hogansville Post Office after 37 years of service. He was a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Hogansville and was a member of Hogansville Masonic Lodge 93.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Estelle Neighbors of Hogansville; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Michael Villani of Dallas; son, Ron Neighbors of San Francisco, Calif.; step-sons and step-daughter-in-law, John Lancaster of Hogansville and Burl and Louise Lancaster of LaGrange; sister and brother-in-law, Corene and Charles Morrison of Smyrna; granddaughter and her husband, Michelle and Jeff Harman of Douglasville; great-granddaughters, Zoe Harman and Sophie Harman; ste;-grandchildren, A.
