Mrs. Emily Bradbury Brock, 83, of Columbus, Ga., died Friday, June 6, 2003 at The Medical Center.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 11 in the Luthersville City Cemetery
in Luthersville, Ga. with the Rev. Richard Campbell officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Macon Road.
Mrs. Brock was born
Nov. 1, 1919 in Luthersville, Ga. daughter of the late Eva Pope and Joseph Albert Bradbury. She had lived in Columbus since 1941 and was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and the Frank Parr Telephone Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Brock attended Young Harris Junior College and Auburn University where she received her B.S. and Master's Degree. She taught school in Florida, Alabama and Georgia for 36 years and was retired from the Muscogee County School District after 25 years. Mrs. Brock was a member of the Muscogee County Retired Teachers Association and the Georgia State Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Jack Brock and her brother, Legan Pope Brock.
Surviving are cousins, Zuma Harris of Atlanta, Ga., Clyde Collins of Macon, Ga. and Douglas Pope of Albany, Ga.; many close and loyal friends, Betty Anne Arenz of LaJolla, CA, Josie Davis, Barbara and Wilkes Broach, Carolyn King, Lucy Mangham and Sara Herring, all of Columbus.

Mr. Melvin Carter Sr. died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at Newnan Hospital East.

Melvin Carter Sr. was born
Oct. 10, 1923 to the late Mr. George Washington and Mrs. Amanda Grimes Carter. He was one of ten children born
to the couple, and he was preceded in death by eight of his siblings. He served in World War II. After the war he married
Zebra Hill and they had four children. He served on the Deacon Board at the Ebenezer Baptist Church. His employment was with the Newnan Hospital East for 15 years, and PAPP Clinic for 29 years before his retirement. He was known for his faithfulness and dedication to his wife, family and church. His humble and kind spirit will be missed by everyone.
Surviving are wife, Zebra Carter; children, Barbara Favors of Decatur, Ga., Frankie Carter, Melvin Carter Jr., Walter Carter (Brenda) all of Newnan, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Margie Ann Smith of Newnan; sisters-in-law, Katie Eunice Trammell, Ethel Mae Carter; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Robert S. Dawkins, 62, of Decatur, Ga., died June 4, 2003.
Mr. Dawkins was born
May 4, 1941, in Decatur, Ala. He was a member of the Glenwood Hills Masonic Lodge #703 F&AM.

Mr. Mark Allen Devereaux
Mr. Mark Allen Devereaux, 39, of Newnan, Ga., died at his home Sunday, June 8, 2003 after an extended illness.
Mr. Devereaux was born
in Chelsea, Massachusetts and moved to Newnan when he was about 18 years old. He was a great guitarist with a tremendous passion for music and was always jamming somewhere with a group as the lead guitarist. In addition to playing the music he loved so much, he worked as a machinist at Groov Pin in the Shenandoah Industrial Park of Coweta County. A good-hearted man, he was always helping someone in need.
Surviving are parents, James and Sybil Laurent of Newnan, Ga.; a son, Mark "Tony" Devereaux and his mother Carla Couch; four sisters, April Dawn Grote, Laurel Beth Sharkey, Michelle Renee Devereaux, and Catherine Elizabeth Johns; several nieces and nephews; many friends.
The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday evening, June 10.

She was born

Mr. Carlton Owens Ingram, 75, of Newnan, Ga. died Saturday, June 7, 2003, in Newnan.
Mr. Ingram was born
Dec. 30, 1927, in Newnan, the fourth child of Lucile Owens Ingram and John Frederick Ingram. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Newnan, where he met Grace Davis. They were married
June 28, 1953. Mrs. Ingram preceded him in death.
Mr. Ingram served two years in the U.S. Army, where he became a weapons training specialist, stationed at Fort Jackson in Columbis, S.C. and Fort Gordon in Augusta, Ga. In 1955 he opened a branch of the Sherwin-Williams Paint Company in Newnan, where he was employed until his retirement 35 years later.
For many years Mr. Ingram was an active participant in community projects. he was a member of the Newnan-Coweta Planning Commission, Newnan Elks Lodge and Kiwanis Club.
A grave-side service will be held Tuesday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Dr. Gene Tyre will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be John, Jeff, and Bill Ingram, Emmett Askew, Ed and Ron McNeil, and Jon Davis.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 9, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Surviving are his sons, David Alan Ingram of Atlanta and James Carlton Ingram of Stockbridge, Ga.; daughter Rebecca Ingram Hyman of Louisville, Ky.; sister Elizabeth Ingram Askew of Hogansville, Ga.; and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Jonathan William Motley
Mr. Jonathan William Motley died May 31, 2003.
He was born
November 19, 1976 to Daniel William Motley of Phenix City, Alabama and Rebecca Koger Davis of Newnan, Ga.
Mr. Motley attended Newnan High School for a brief time; he was a member of the football team and ROTC. He graduated from Russell County High School and joined the Navy as a Nuclear Engineer.
He is the father of three boys, all of whom live or did live in the Phenix City area: Daniel James Motley, Mark William Motley and Patrick Thomas Motley. Also surviving are sisters and stepfather, Rachel Davis Peeler of Madison, Ala., Samantha Davis and Randall Thomas Davis of Newnan, Ga.
He will always be remembered as a father who loved his children more than his own life.
A candlelight memorial service will be held at Royal Baptist Church in Newnan on Thursday, June 12 at 6 p.m.

Mrs. Penny Rosser, 64, of Clarkesville, Ga., died suddenly June 7, 2003.
She was born
to the late Robert G. and Mary R.Andrews in Atlanta, Ga. Nov. 12, 1938. She was also preceded in death by her son, John R. Green Jr.

Mr. Louis Henry Tumlin, 81, who had been under care at Southland Nursing Home in Peachtree City, Ga., died June 8, 2003 at the nursing facility.
He was born
March 1, 1922 in Decatur, Ga. He was married
Jan. 21, 1945 and worked for and retired from Complete Auto Transit in Lakewood Heights/ Atlanta, Ga. as a master mechanic and welder for 28 years during which he also ran and owned his own business, "Tumlin's Garage," in Lakewood Heights. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union and a faithful follower of the Lakewood Baptist Church.
A funeral will be Tuesday, June 10 at 4:30 p.m. in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Rev. Terry New officiating. Burial in Forest Lawn.

Mrs. Renee Williamson Howard, 48, of Hogansville, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
Mrs. Williamson was born
April 14, 1955, in Troup County, to the late Pat and Mary Cash Williamson. A lifelong resident of Hogansville, she was a 1974 graduate of Hogansville High School, and was a member of the Hogansville Church of God. Prior to her illness, she was a supervisor at Hughes Georgia, Inc., in LaGrange.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville. The Revs. Randall Hodge, Johnny Williamson, and Wesley Boatman will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery
in Hogansville.

Mr. Bowles was born
April 6, 1941 in Meriwether County, Ga. to sister Mae Bell Bowles and the late Mr. Leonard Bowles Sr. He married
Carrie Mae Harris November 18, 1962 and they had five children.
He was educated in Haralson, Georgia, at the Piney Grove School and later relocated to Homestead, Florida where he attended A. L. Lewis School in Dade County. He worked at Expo Industries in Peachtree City, Ga. and the City of Luthersville where he was most recently employed as a maintenance engineer, and he was an employee of Bill Arnold for many years.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mrs. Virginia Anderson (Gint), Mr. John H. Bowles (Bro), Mr. William Baker Bowles, Mr. Ronald Paul Bowles; son-in-law, Mr. James LeFlore; sister-in-law, Mrs. Loujene Clemon Burts, Mrs. Inez Tucker.

Mr. Octavious Lamont Porter was remembered at a funeral Friday, June 6, 2003 at 3 p.m. in the Sellers-Smith R. W. S. Memorial Chapel with minister Gregory Turk officiating.
Burial was in Eastview Cemetery. Family and friends assembled on the day of the service at 5659 Hidden Brook Circle, College Park, Ga. at 1:45 p.m.

Mr. Porter was born
June 1, 1971 in Claxton, Ga. to Sarah Francis Martin and Charles Phillips. He graduated from Anniston High School in 1989. He attended Hyles Anderson College in Hammond, Indiana where he studied theology and history. He was a very loving and giving person, and always full of joy and laughter. No matter what the situation he would always find a way to make you laugh. He was a member of Light House Baptist Church in Anniston, Alabama where he taught Sunday School and received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at a very early age. He was family oriented and loved spending quality time with his nieces and nephews.
Surviving are his mother, Sarah F. Martin; father, Daryl A. Martin Sr.; sisters, Tyhepha N. Porter, Tameka A. Edmonson (Garland Edmonson), and Chandra Y. Martin; brother, Darryl A. Martin Jr.; seven aunts, four uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Gladys Davis
Mrs. Gladys Lee Davis, 86, of White Aster Court, Dacula, Ga. died Monday, June 2, 2003 in Snellville, Ga.
Mrs. Davis was born
June 7, 1916 in Bleckley County, Ga. the oldest of five girls. She worked in an munitions plant during World War II.
Later, Mrs. Davis was self-employed in the restaurant business and as a day care provider. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Alvaton, Ga.
A former resident of Sharpsburg, Ga. she was the widow of Herbert Davis. Mrs. Davis also was preceded in death by three sisters, Mattie Raines, Eva Oliver and Mildred Smith.
A funeral was held Wednesday, June 4, in the chapel of Horis A. Ward Funeral Home in Stone Mountain, Ga. with the Rev. Winston Skinner officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Garden of Memories in Decatur, Ga.
Survivors include daughters, Betty Finney of Lexington, S. C., Libby Sauer of Sharpsburg, Patricia Davis of Dacula; sister, Thelma Stephens of Gay, Ga.; nine grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Taylor was born
