John D. Mabry
John D. Mabry, age 78, of Griffin, Georgia, died July 21, 2009. Mr. Mabry was born
November 13, 1930 in Fayette County to the late Emory L. Mabry and the late Annie Lee Culbertson Mabry. John was a charter member of the Civil Air Patrol at the Griffin Airport. He was also a pilot. He soloed in 1951 at the age of 21 and went on to become a flight instructor. John also was an airport manager and pilot examiner for several years. His love for flying ran deep and he taught his daughter, Teresa, to fly. John retired from Snapper Power Equipment Company in 1993 and began building things in his shop. He built picnic tables, gliders, rocking chairs, swings and toy boxes. He was a member of Mason Lodge # 413, Moose Lodge #1503 and was a life member of VFW Post # 5448. He was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur Mabry, William Mabry and sister, Mary Ann Waits.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Mabry of Griffin; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Kerry Floyd; granddaughter Keri Ann Floyd; sister-in-law, Nell Mabry of Dallas; nephew, Reverend Lee Mabry of Dallas; nieces, Audrey Diaz of Miami, Florida, Sandra Witty of Alpharetta; brothers-in-law, Thomas W. and Elizabeth Morris of Orchard Hill and Harvey L. Morris of Ocilla; and a host of friends.
Services for Mr. Mabry were held July 24 in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, with Rev. Lee Mabry and Rev. Billy Weaver officiating. Effie Belle Garland Martin
Effie Belle Garland Martin, age 79, of Locust Grove, Georgia, died July 22, 2009. Mrs. Martin was born
in Henry County, the daughter of the late Ezma Sue Thomas and Adolphus Daniel Garland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eulee Russell Martin; son, Tom Martin; daughter, Linda Martin; siblings, William Garland, Mary Sue Phillips, Lucy Bob Lunsford, Frank Garland and Emma Dale Garland. Mrs. Martin was a member of Phillippi Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed gardening, flowers, animals and cooking.
Survivors are her children, Martha Litten of McDonough, Sarah Cates of Locust Grove, David Martin of Locust Grove, Paul Martin of Jackson, Dianne Martin of Jackson, Nancy Norris of Jackson and Arthur Martin of Rockmart; 21 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dolf Garland, John Garland and Emmett Garland, all of Locust Grove.

David Lee Williams, Jr.
David Lee Williams, Jr., age 49, of Locust Grove, Georgia, died July 23, 2009. He was born
in Euclid, Ohio to the late David Lee Williams, Sr. Mr. Williams served his country in the United States Army and was a member of Gospel Outreach. He worked for Bennett Motor Express for many years, enjoyed woodworking, tinkering and was a jack-of-all trades.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Williams; daughters, Kandis (Daniel) Seay, Amanda Harris; grandchildren, Cheyann and Dylan Seay all of Locust Grove; mother, Janet Williams of Hendersonville, North Carolina.
Funeral services were conducted July 26, 2009 at the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, Pastor Doug Drucker officiating. Interment at the Wallace Cemetery

Ronald L. Underwood
Ronald L. Underwood, age 67, of McDonough, Georgia, died July 24, 2009. He was born
in Dysart, Iowa. Mr. Underwood was preceded in death by his father, Harold Underwood and sister, Jean Underwood.
Mr. Underwood is survived by his wife, Blanca Underwood, McDonough; sons, Jeremy (Juliet Sy) Underwood, Atlanta, and Nick (Annabel Kaplan) Underwood, Brooklyn, New York; and mother, Lucile Underwood, Traer, Iowa.

Betty Fowler
Betty Fowler, age 79, of Stockbridge, Georgia, died July 24, 2009. She was born
in Atlanta to the late George and Pauline Norton Moses. Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Fowler.
Mrs. Fowler is survived by her daughter, Renee and Sam Culpepper, Stockbridge; grandchildren, Heather and Ray Grimmer, Douglasville, and Kristy and Jason Heath, Cumming, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Glenda Anne Edwards Ragsdale
Glenda Anne Edwards Ragsdale, age 61, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away July 25, 2009. Mrs. Ragsdale was born
in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of the late Frances Roxana Glenn and Oliver Twitty Edwards. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed being with her family. She enjoyed cooking, playing board games, traveling, the beach and the mountains. Mrs. Ragsdale worked in accounting most of her working career.
Survivors are her husband, Jerry L. Ragsdale of McDonough; children, Stacey Baker of McDonough, Sherrie Ragsdale of Warwick, and Brian and Nicole Ragsdale of McDonough; 9 grandchildren; siblings, Franky Vaughan of McDonough, Nancy Glenn of Atlanta and Earl Edwards of Morrow; several nieces and nephews.

in Stockbridge, to the late Robert Earl and Mae Elon Glass Brannan, Sr.
Ms. Hunt is survived by her children, Chip Hunt, McDonough, Jann Hunt, Stockbridge, Chris Hunt, Jackson, Jennifer Hunt Thompson, Locust Grove, and Stacy Hunt Baker, Ellenwood; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and sister, Rebecca Brannan Morris, Birmingham, Alabama.
