Mr. John Robert Smith
Mr. John Robert Smith died at his residence in the Rico Community January 31, 2003.
He was born
April 24, 1919 to James B. and Nora Bilssett Smith. He was a Navy veteran, member of Providence Baptist Church in Rico and owner of Smith Grocery Store in Rico for more than 52 years. He was an active member of the Rico Community his entire life.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Calvin Smith and an infant son.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Kathleen Smith of Rico; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Kenneth Smith of Rico, James Burnett Smith and his wife, Wanda, of Rico; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean Smith Pate and her husband William of Whitesburg, Susan Smith Storey and her husband Randall of Newnan; brothers, Joe B. Smith of Rico and William Harold Smith of Fayetteville; sisters, Estelle Smith Rhodes of Florida, Betty Smith Melear of Rico, Virginia Smith Harper of Wisonsin, Lucy Smith Long of Rico; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild.
A funeral will be Sunday, Feb. 2 at Providence Baptist Church in Roco with Rev. Searcy Jackson and Rev. Kenneth Koon officiating. The service will be at 3 p.m. with remains placed in state at the church from 2 p.m. until the service time. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Wright was the former owner of Wright Funeral Home in Fairburn and retired after 55 years of service to the funeral profession. He was born

Mr. Bruce L. Bannister, Sr. of Tyrone, formerly of East Point died Saturday, March 29, 2003 from respiratory infection.
Mr. Bannister was born
March 5, 1928 in Fulton County to the late Joe Claude, Sr. and Lillie Bell Bannister. He was retired from RR Publications of Atlanta. Mr. Bannister was a veteran of the Korean War. He loved East Point and served as City Councilman for eight years and mayor for three terms. He was also Fulton County Commissioner for two terms. Mr. Bannister was a member of First Baptist Church of East Point.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 1 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of East Point with Dr. J.W. Wallis officiating. The body will lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m. Entombment will be at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Fairburn. The family will receive friends at Carmichael-Hemperly Funeral Home, East Point on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Mr. Lloyd Billy Reese Jr., 51, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
Mr. Reese was born
Jan. 27, 1952, in Newnan, the only child of Mrs. Mary S. Reese and the late Lloyd Reese, Sr. He joined Newnan Chapel United Methodist Church at an early age and attended for many years. He attended Central High School in Newnan and graduated from Dunbar High School in Washington D.C. Mr. Reese served two years in the U.S. Air Force.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Newnan Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Moses Woodruff, Jr., pastor; the Rev. J.T. Coleman, eulogist, and assistants the Revs. Rufus Smith Sr., and Hulon Kemp. Burial will be in the Eastview Cemetery. The cortege will assemble at 60 Savannah Street at 1 p.m.

Mr. Clifford David Bone, 45, died Friday, March 28, 2003. Mr. Bone was born
in Newnan. He lived in Guntersville, AL and worked as a carpenter.
Mr. Bone is survived by his mother, Nellie Ruth Reynolds-Bone; his fiance, Octavia Stewart; one son, Justin David Bone; two daughters, Natasha Nicole Bone and Leah Marie Bone; two sisters, Susan Lee Millians and Marilyn Anne Beckom. In addition to his father, Charles Clifford Bone, he was preceded in death by a son, Brandon Bone.

Mrs. Alma Carter, 87, of Newnan, died Friday, March 28, 2003 at LaGrange Hospice after an extended illness. Mrs. Carter was born
in Texas , Georgia to Joseph and Della Cassell in 1916. She lived most of her life in Newnan. As a homemaker, she loved cooking for her family and playing in her garden. She enjoyed helping people and discussing the Bible with her friends. She attended Welcome Road Baptist Church.
Mrs. Carter is survived by four sons; Larry Caldwell of Hogansville, Jackie Caldwell of New Orleans, Louisiana, Sam Caldwell of Glenn, Georgia and David Key of Newnan; a daughter, Denise Vincent of Gainesville; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. William Lee "Billy" Crawford, 39, of Greenville, Ga., formerly of Senoia, Ga., died at his home Thursday, March 27, 2003.
He was born
in Newnan, but spent most of his life in Senoia. Although born
deaf, Mr. Crawford taught himself to talk and was a very intelligent and understanding person. He was loving and kind to everyone. His hobby and passion in life was watching Nascar racing.
Mr. Crawford is survived by his father, Mr. Lonnie Arrington of Senoia; sister, Mrs. Betty J. Arrington Dewberry and her husband, Ronald, of Newnan; two brothers, Junior Arrington of Newnan and Larry Arrington of Griffin; several nieces and nephews.

Ms. Anna Louise Demmons, 57, of Decatur, Ga., died Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
She was born
July 30, 1945 in Atlanta, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Mr. John Favor and Willie Bell Davis, and was the wife of the late Dewitt Demmons.
Louise, as she was fondly known, lived a good and long life among many special friends and family.
She was preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Johnnie Key Weaver; and brother, Horace Davis.
Surviving are two sons, Michael Ronald Davis (Cathy) of Atlanta, Ga., Carlton Lee Taylor Jr. (Penni) of Newnan; daughter, Carla LaVette Taylor (Terry) of Newnan; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ms. Winnie Ruth Davis of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Barbara Ann) Webbs of Decatur, Ga.; brother, Sammy Davis of Decatur, Ga.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be Saturday in Stone Mountain. In accordance with Ms. Demmons' wishes, the body was cremated.

She was born
June 13, 1910 to the late Willie and Jennie Lewis Bennett. Her husband, Henry Grady Hemmings, preceded her in death. She had been employed in the East Newnan textile mills.
Surviving are son, Henry Hemmings and wife Nancy of Tacoma, WA; grandchildren, Ronnie Hemmings and his wife, Lisa, and Brian Wheatley and his wife, Lisa; great-grandchildren, Ronnie, Jonathan and Crystal Hemmings, and Sarah, Carson and Alice Wheatley. An extended family of nieces and nephews includes Linda Bennett of Newnan.

Mrs. Murphy was born
September 14, 1917 in Carroll County, daughter of the late Oliver Thomas Washington and the late Dora Rigsby Washington . She had lived at Hogansville since 1953, was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Hogansville, and was the wife of the late Rev. Nathan M. Murphy.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Jean Murphy of Hogansville, Danny and Jackie Murphy of Newnan, and David and Peggy Murphy of Brooks; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Danny Johnson of Albany; eleven grandchildren, Sharon Murphy, Carol Murphy, Marty Murphy, Allison Robinson, Sheri Duncan, Derek Murphy, Daphne Johnson, D. Miss Amy Fay Rivers
Miss Amy Fay Rivers, 16, of Franklin, Ga., died Wednesday, March 26, 2003 in Heard County after sustaining injuries in a car accident.
Miss Rivers was born
December 2, 1986 in Carroll County, Ga., beloved daughter of Bryan Keith Rivers and Sharon Hallmark Rivers. Amy was one of Heard County High School's most beautiful and popular sophomores. Her beautiful smile was one that attracted people of all ages and backgrounds. Her soft spoken voice and bubbly personality made her a shoulder to lean to many of her schoolmates. One student said, "If Amy were here she would know just what to say to ease this awful pain I'm feeling." She was an Honor Roll student and a member of VICA.
Amy gave her life to Christ as a young girl, but only recently in July 2002 joined the Macedonia Baptist Church in Ephesus, Ga. and was baptized. Her mother remembers fondly the times Amy helped her with her Sunday School class of little children. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing for friends and family. She was also a talented poet. One could not write about Amy without saying her favorite pastime was shopping. She adored her family and boyfriend Todd. Her delightful spirit is one that will never pass from the memory of those who knew and loved her.
A funeral will be Friday, March 28 at 3 p.m. at Victory Road Baptist Church in Veal, Ga. with the Reverends Wayne Brown, Ronnie Croft, and Amy's uncles the Reverends Carlton and Lemuel Rivers officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Flournoy was born
October 28, 1931 in Grantville, son of the late Brock and Louise Jackson Flournoy. A resident of Los Angeles for a number of years, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and was retired from Crown Oldsmobile.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas Flournoy of South Bend, Indiana and Michael Flournoy of Concord, New Hampshire; daughter, Mary Louise Hamilton of Mishawaka, Indiana; sister, Betty Harris of Fairburn; extended family in California, Barbara Cross, Cynthia Ellis, Joseph Cross and Michelle Curtis; 16 grandchildren; four nieces.

Mrs. Evelyn Virginia Whitlock, 79, of Grace Assisted Living, Douglasville, Ga., formerly of Wallis Road, Villa Rica, Ga., died Thursday, March 20, 2003.
Mrs. Whitlock, a native of Coweta County, was born
February 13, 1924 to the late Carl Alfred Dingler and Emily Velma Garner Dingler.
She was a homemaker, mother and member of New Lebanon Baptist Church in Coweta County.
Surviving are daughters and son-in-law, Pauline and Randall M. Burson, Carrollton, Gail Whitlock, Marietta; sons and daughter-in-law, Carl Whitlock, Mike and Linda Whitlock, both of Villa Rica; sister, Dorothy Vaughn, Newnan; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis N. Whitlock.
