Infant Chance Gunn Stevens of Hampton, Georgia died July 15, 2007.
Chance is survived by his parents, Doug and Lindy Stevens; maternal grandparents, Terry and Terri Gunn of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; paternal grandparents, Douglas and Janet Stevens of McDonough and Debby and Rick Narey of Jackson; maternal great-grandparents, George and Patricia Gunn of Phoenix, Arizona; paternal great-grandparents, Jim Eller of Forest Park, and Fayne Sears of Gwinnett County; aunt, Kim Rowley of Phoenix, Arizona and several great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins.

Sara Catherine Wood Duncan
Sara Catherine Wood Duncan, age 88, McDonough, Georgia died July 17, 2007. Mrs. Duncan was born
in Newnan the daughter of the late Annie Berth Yarbrough and David Monroe Wood. She was a graduate of Piedmont School of Nursing in Atlanta, was a nurse at Piedmont Hospital and school nurse at Fulton High School in Atlanta. She was a member of the McDonough First United Methodist Church and was very active in her church and community. She was a great mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed an active and full life and was loved by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major W. L. Duncan, Atlanta Police Department.
She is survived by her children, Sara Ann and Jerry Standard of Locust Grove, Bill and Virginia Durden of Stockbridge; grandchildren, Jay and Mary Ann Standard of Locust Grove, David and Tina Standard of Locust Grove, Jeff Standard of Orlando, Florida, Billy and Shay Duncan of Stockbridge, Tim and Sherry Wallis of Jackson and Barry and Kelly Wallis of Locust Grove; great grandchildren, Courtney and Grayson Standard of Locust Grove, William and Karigan Standard of Locust Grove, Emma Wallis of Locust Grove; brother, Woodie Wood of Newnan; sisters, Ruth Kerr of Decatur and Bertie Fann of Montgomery, Alabama; nieces and nephews.
Services for Mrs. Duncan were held July 20 at the McDonough First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dana Everhart officiating. Interment Fairview Memorial Gardens. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Sarah Ruth Martin Kuglar
Mrs. Sarah Ruth Martin Kuglar, age 84, of McDonough, Georgia died July 5, 2007. Mrs. Kuglar was born
in Carroll County the daughter of the late Ola Albright Martin and Henry Frank Martin. Mrs. Kuglar was a member of Jodeco Road United Methodist Church. She and her husband were co-founders of the church and she served her church in many areas and had been a member of the choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guynn Kuglar in June of 2000.
Survivors are her sister, Betty Carlson of Carrollton; sister-in-laws, Pat Waguespack of McDonough and Ann Waugh of Griffin; brother-in-law, Donald Ginn of Forest Park; nephews, Glen H. Martin of Trickum Valley, Alabama, Frank Carlson of Carrollton and Joe Ginn of Forest Park; nieces, Anita Brannon of Carrollton, Jodie Crumbley of Milner, Carol Meyers of Rex, Vickie McDonald of Roswell, Cindy McCracken of Smyrna and Angela Kirby of McDonough.
Services for Mrs. Kuglar were held July 8 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Ward officiating. Interment Fairview Memorial Gardens. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
John Lee Bell
Mr. John Lee Bell, age 61, of McDonough, Georgia died July 7, 2007. Mr. Bell was born
in Dupont, Colorado the son of the late Kathryn Joan Brown and John Berl Bell. Mr. Bell was retired from Clayton County Police Department with 30 years of service. He served his country in the US Army. Mr. Bell enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Bell of McDonough; children, Johnny Bell and Leslie Beason of Alabama and Amanda Castillo of Georgia; brother, Bruce Bell of Colorado and sister, Pat Masden of Kansas; four grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services were held in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Chaplain Wally Woodcock officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
David Arthur Widergren
Mr. David Arthur Widergren, age 61, of Hampton, Georgia died July 7, 2007. Mr. Widergren was born
in Kansas and raised in Colorado the son of the late Charlotte Virginia Dedman and Marvin Lennae Widergren. He was a member of Community Bible Church. He served in the US Navy from 1965
to 1971. Mr. Widergren enjoyed his family, woodworking and making wood toys for little children, yard work and reading.
Survivors are his wife, Peggy Widergren of Hampton; children, Steve Widergren of Port Orchard, Washington , Joyce Gilham of Douglasville, Scott Strader of Decatur, Todd Strader of Decatur and Meredith Kelley of McDonough; 8 grandchildren, brother, Earl Widergren of Exton, Pennsylvania and nephews.
Services were held July 10 from the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Brooks Everett officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Maurice Paul Laird
Mr. Maurice Paul Laird, age 76, of McDonough, Georgia died July 7, 2007. Mr. Laird was born
in Milford, Illinois the son of the late Mable Louise Rush and Paul William Laird. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fayetteville. He served his country in the US Air Force from 1953 until 1961. He enjoyed genealogy, gardening, wood working and collectibles.
Survivors are his wife, JoAnn Laird of McDonough; children, Greg and Vickey Laird of Nashville, Tennessee, Brad and Darlene Laird of Rex, Julie and Jeff Weaver of McDonough and Amy and Robert Naddra of Sugar Hill; grandchildren, Matthew and Monica Laird, Rachel Laird, Amanda Laird, Katie Weaver, McKinley Laird, Alex Naddra, Kelsey Naddra, Abby Weaver, Mark Weaver, Bethany Naddra and Ben Weaver; special friend Cameron Guida; brother, Wallace Laird; sisters, Phyllis Gribson and Jill Shumaker; nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Laird were held July 11 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Gregory officiating. Interment Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Those who wish may make donations to Southwest Christian Hospice in Union City. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Joseph Bowman Kennedy
Mr. Joseph Bowman Kennedy, age 85, of McDonough, Georgia died July 8, 2007. He was born
in Terrell County, Georgia the son of the late Ruth Bennett and Jessie Joseph Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy was a member of Druid Hills United Methodist Church in Atlanta, served his country in the U.S. Army, and worked for the Veterans Administration for 31 plus years. He had retired from the Daytona Beach, Florida area before moving back to Georgia. He enjoyed traveling and walking.
Survivors are nieces and nephews, Carol Bryant Bell, Ronnie Kennedy, Glen Ellyn Powell, Bobby Hammond, Gerald Hammond, Johnny Hammond, Juanita Bridges, JoAnn Askew, Sara Shoemaker, Rose Mary Brooks and Bussey Brooks. Mr. Kennedy was cremated and no services upon his request. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Herman Morgan
Mr. Herman “Chesley” Morgan, age 68, of McDonough, Georgia died July 8, 2007. He was born
in 1938 in Paulding County to the late Joe Chesley Morgan. He served his country in the US Army; was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Ellijay; and was a retired Tower and Crane Operator.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dianne Morgan of McDonough; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Al Bowman of Locust Grove, Randy and D’Ronica Morgan of Chatsworth; grandchildren, Brandon and Carrie Kirkpatrick of McDonough, Hailey Morgan of Houston, Texas , Dillon Morgan, Cheyenne Morgan and Stephanie Cagle all of Chatsworth; great grandchildren, Caroline Kirkpatrick, Ashland Kirkpatrick, Rhett Kirkpatrick and Gabriella Espenoza; mother, Maggie Morgan of Alpharetta; siblings, Joyce Jackson of Jasper, Inell Payne of Alpharetta; Don Morgan of Dahlonega, Jodie Morgan of Villa Rica, and Danny Morgan of Byron.
According to his wishes, Mr. Morgan has been cremated and no services are planned at this time. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mary Ann Hogue Etheridge
Mrs. Mary Ann Hogue Etheridge, age 59, of Hampton, Georgia died July 11, 2007. She was born
in Atlanta to the late John Bailey Hogue. Mary Ann was a member of Berea Christian Church and had been a Registered Nurse at the Emergency Room of Emory University Hospital. She enjoyed gardening and her church.
Survivors include her husband, Roy P. “Pat” Etheridge of Hampton; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Ann and Greg Rigsby of Junction City, Georgia; granddaughter, Brittany Nicole Lopez of Junction City; mother, Addie Ruth Allen Hogue of McDonough; siblings, Peggy H. Graves of Chesapeake, Virginia, Jacqueline P. “Patty” Henderson of McDon-ough, and John Franklin Hogue of Kennesaw; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held July 13 from Berea Christian Church with Rev. David Fulton officiating. Interment Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the ALS Association of Georgia, 1955 Cliff Valley Way, Suite 116, Atlanta, GA 30329 in memory of Mary Ann. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mary Sue McGill Polk
Mrs. Mary Sue McGill Polk, age 88, of McDonough, Georgia died July 9, 2007. She was born
in Tift County, Georgia the daughter of the late James Eddie and Lola Cordelia Clegg McGill. She taught school in Chula and Omega and retired from the Henry County Board of Education, having taught for 29 years. Mrs. Polk was a life member of the McDonough First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association, the Sunshine Club, the Samaritan Sunday School Class, and the Ada Newnan/Bertha Bunn Circle. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling and her grandchildren. She will also be fondly remembered for her cooking and especially her Chocolate Pound Cake. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Claud Oliver “Jack” Polk in 2003, and by brothers, Millard and Harold McGill.
Survivors include her children, Wesley and Lana Polk of Columbus, Charles and Sue Polk of Jackson, and Lane Brannan of McDonough; grandchildren, Michael, David, Eric, Brian and Steven Polk, Amy Brannan, and Jill Yevick; great grandchildren, Grace Yevick, Skylar Sears, Logan, Matthew, Olivia, and Katelyn Polk; sister, Doris Jones; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Janet McGill all of Tifton; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services were held July 12 from the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Broome officiating. Interment McDonough City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the McDonough First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 151 Macon Street, McDonough, GA 30253 in memory of Mrs. Polk. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
