Thomas John Enright
Thomas John Enright, age 68, of Stockbridge, Georgia died October 6, 2005. Mr. Enright was born
May 13, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Thomas Joseph Enright and Marie Fitzgerald Enright. He graduated with a degree in communications from Loyola University in Chicago. After working for the Chicago Motor Club AAA for ten years, Tom spent 27 years with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and was appointed Regional Administrator for the eight southeastern states before retiring in 1998. He started Consensus Consortium, a transportation and public policy consulting firm. He was very active in his church and community. He served as a board member and past president of TEAM Georgia, a safe driving coalition dedicated to saving lives, and as a past board member of Eagle’s Landing Country Club. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Emmet Enright.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughters, Kathy and Al Kuzuba, Carolyn and Tom des Islets, Laurie and Jack Hesse; son, Tom and Lindsey Enright; and 11 much loved grandchildren.
Funeral mass was held October 10 at St. James Catholic Church in McDonough. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Saint James Building Fund or to the Coalition For Pulmonary Fibrosis (www.colitionforpf.org)

Polly Anne Weiss Smith
Polly Anne Weiss Smith, age 84, of McDonough, Georgia died October 9, 2005. Mrs. Smith was born
in Jefferson County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Maude Hefner and Edmond Weiss. She worked most of her career for Eastman Kodak as a laboratory technician. She enjoyed her family, crocheting, raising English bulldogs and bullmastiffs, and her fishpond.
She is survived by her husband, John (J.T.) Smith of McDonough; daughter and son-in-law, Rosa and Zebb Owens of McDonough; grandchildren, Kim Brannan of Martinez, Rebecca Mortenson of Palmetto, Darby Ann Motes of McDonough, and Mark Owens of Locust Grove; eight great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Services were held October 11 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Pastor David Riley officiating. Interment Locust Grove Cemetery. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
James Milton Austin Sr.
Mr. James Milton Austin Sr., age 84, of McDonough, Georgia died September 25, 2005. He was born
September 21, 1921 in Greene County, the son of the late Rusha Statham Austin and William L. Austin. He was a member of First Baptist Church of McDonough and he retired with 26 plus years of service in the U.S. Army. He was also preceded in death by siblings; Rachel House, Dorothy Nelson, Doris Jones, Horace Austin and William L. Austin.
He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth Moseley Austin of McDonough; children, James M. Austin, Jr. of Lexington, and Melanie and John Selfe of Mc-Donough; grandson, Ian Selfe of Athens; siblings, Hazel Pratt, Betty Jo Goodwin, Jewel Boelsterli, Billy Austin and Harry Austin.
Services for Mr. Austin were held September 28 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Michael White officiating. Interment Westview Cemetery

Robert William Phillippe
Robert William Phillippe, age 79, of Stockbridge, Georgia died September 26, 2005. Mr. Phillippe was born
October 19, 1925 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of the late Garnet Edna McCarty and Martin Alexander Phillippe. He was a member of McDonough First United Meth-odist Church, retired with Caterpillar Tractor Co. with 35 years of service, served his country in the U.S. Air Force in WWII, and was a POW in Russia.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Phillippe of McDonough; children, Dru and Yong Phillippe of Stockbridge, and Don and Terrie Phillippe of Sparland, Illinois; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Phillippe of Indiana and Glenn Phillippe of Texas ; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held September 29 at St. James Catholic Church, with Father John Murphy officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Sigmond Lenic
Sigmond (Tony) Lenic, age 86, of Stockbridge, Georgia died September 26, 2005. Mr. Lenic was born
in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Anthony and Julia Nowicki Lenic. He served our country with the U.S. Army, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Denlinger in 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Lenic of Stockbridge; son, Paul Lenic of Daytona Beach, Florida; stepsons, Keith and Felesha Austin of Stock-bridge; Lex and Dawn Austin of Loganville; sisters, Bernice Lenic of Lansing, Michigan, Hedy Johnson of Benson, Arizona; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held Wednesday, September 28 at Flippen Cemetery, with Rev. Gary DeMore officiating. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
J.B. Canady
J.B. Canady, age 66, of McDonough, Georgia died Monday, September 26, 2005. Mr. Canady was born
in Corsicana, Texas , the son of Lon S. and Evelyn Garrett Canady. He was an avid golfer who played until his health would not let him. He then watched T.V. and loved the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved to write. He was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Canady; and father, Lon S. Canady.
He is survived by his wife, Luise Canady of McDonough; daughters, Angela D. Franklin of Stockbridge, Kelly R. Canady of McDonough; mother, Evelyn Smith of Arlington, Texas ; brother, Jerry Canady of Texas ; sister, Patricia Gordell of Texas ; grandchildren, Anthony, Ashley, Jessica, Joshua, Nicholas, Dylan, Kendrick, Kylie; and several cousins.
Services were held September 30 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Inurnment Fairview Memorial Gardens with military honors. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Richard J. Hughes
Richard J. Hughes, age 60, of McDonough, Georgia died September 26, 2005. Mr. Hughes was born
in McKeesport, Pennsylvania , the son of the late Harry and Adeline (Pandianni) Hughes. He worked as a computer specialist for the Army Reserves at Fort McPherson. He was known for his expertise in computers and his love for Doo-Wop and Oldies music. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Hughes.
He is survived by his wife, Sharan (Ilgenfritz) Hughes of McDonough; sons, Dion and Lisa Hughes of Milner, A.J. and Paula Hughes of Williamson; grandchildren, Jake, Haley, Drew, Makena; sister-in-law, Judy Hughes.
Services were held September 29 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Rev. Bob Bailey officiating. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Gordon Howard
Gordon “Sarge” Howard, age 75, of McDonough, Georgia died September 27, 2005. Mr. Howard was born
in Apison, Tennessee, the son of Creed E. and Lucille Ware Howard. He was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean conflict. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially working in the garden. Most important to him was family. He was a devoted and loving, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Michael Howard of Apison, Tennessee, Timothy Howard, Houston, Texas , Darlene Rogers of Locust Grove, Bobby Strickland, Jr, McDonough, Tommy Lee Strickland, McDonough, Laurie Yates, Stockbridge; brother, Douglas Howard of Dalton; and grandchildren.
Services were held September 30 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Rev. James West officiating. Interment Locust Grove Cemetery. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Ruth Milstead Lasseter
Ruth Milstead Lasseter, age 71, of Villa Rica, Georgia, formerly of McDonough died September 19, 2005. Mrs. Lasseter was born
in Chattooga County, the daughter of the late Clara Faye Pettijohn and Julias Jesse Milstead. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Vernon Sears in 1977, and Robert T. Lasseter in 2001.
She is survived by her children, Faye Howard of Jackson, Erskine Sears of Villa Rica, Vicki Carden of LaGrange, Mary Ann Allen of Stockbridge, Jimmy Sears of Forest Park and Macie Mayo of McDonough; brothers, Charles Milstead of Sommerville, Junior Milstead of Armuchee and Doyle Milstead of Washington state; sisters, Barbara Beard and Janie Kilgo, both of Rome; 14 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services were held Thursday, September 22 at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
