Lester Clarence Henderson
Lester “Bill” Clarence Henderson, age 88, of Jonesboro, Georgia died November 2, 2005. Mr. Henderson was born
in Decatur, the son of the late Atticus Greer and Maggie Angela Willard Henderson. He worked with Civilian Conservation Corps and was a member of the Grant Park Masonic Lodge. His favorite hobby was gardening and he loved being a dad. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Lila T. Henderson.
He is survived by his daughters, Jackie Henderson of Jonesboro, Vicki (Paul) Carothers of Gainesville; sons, Kenneth R. Henderson of Clayton; Barry L. Henderson of Atlanta; grandson, Charley (Melanie) Clinkenbeard; and granddaughters, Wendy Clinkenbeard White, Maria Clinkenbeard (Kris) Cochran, all of Locust Grove; great-grandchildren, Andrew Cochran, Trenton John Cochran, and Makenzie White.
Services were held November 5 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Rev. Terrell Hopkins officiating. Interment New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Jack L. Norris
Jack L. Norris, age 68, of McDonough, Georgia died Nov-ember 3. Mr. Norris was born
in Coffee County, the son of the late Samuel David and Ethel Stewart Norris.
He is survived by his wife, Verue Norris; sons, Roger (Vicki) Norris of Covington, Irwin (Michele) Norris of McDonough; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
There are no funeral services planned for Mr. Norris. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sharon Baptist Church Building Fund, 536 N. Ola Road, McDonough, Georgia, 30252. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Bertie Ray Little Whitehead
Bertie Ray Little Whitehead, age 87, of Hampton, Georgia died November 6, 2005. Mrs. Whitehead was born
August 28, 1918 in Okey Streak, Alabama, the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Cole and Henry David Little. She was a member of Venetian Hills Baptist Church in Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Pierce Whitehead.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Joe Moyers of Fayetteville, Nancy and Kerry Bryan of Hampton; grandchildren, Brent Walker, Juston Bryan, Jolenda McArthur, Dallas Heddon; great-grandchildren, Cane Walker, Zeth McArthur, and Triston Bryan Reid.
Services will held Wednesday, November 9 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Jody Shaw officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1841 Clifton Road, NE, Atlanta, Georgia, 30329-4049 in memory of Mrs. Whitehead. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
James Donald Skelton
James Donald "Buzz" Skelton, age 44, of Stockbridge, Georgia died November 7, 2005. Mr. Skelton was born
in Atlanta, the son of Willis Skelton and Angie Pair Ridley. He loved to work on cars, fish, and aggravate his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his mother, Angie and Ferrell Ridley of Azle, Texas ; father, Willis and Reba Skelton of Griffin; sisters, Connie Hardy of Stockbridge, Janie and Jim Self of Azle, Texas ; brother, Eddie and Sandra Skelton of Ellenwood; four nephews; two nieces; three great-nieces; one great-nephew; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 11 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Rev. Johnny Newell officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Judy Ann Varnum
Judy Ann Varnum, age 46 of Griffin, Georgia died November 7, 2005. Miss Varnum was born
November 24, 1958 in Selma, Alabama, the daughter of the late Herbert D. Varnum. She was a member of Strong Tower Baptist Church, loved her family, making crafts and scrapbooking.
She is survived by her mother, Lucile Patterson Varnum of Griffin; brothers, Tom Varnum of Griffin, and Steve Varnum of Sharpsburg; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lynn and Danny Sheets of McDonough, and Laurie and Doug Olson of Hiram; nieces, Amy and Benjamin Anthony, Emily Olson; great-niece, Rachel Pittman; aunts, uncles, cousins; special friends, Julie, Robert, and Rose, numerous other friends.
Services will be held Saturday, November 12 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Dan Atkinson will officiate. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
James Emory Holder
James Emory Holder, age 87, of Locust Grove, Georgia died November 8, 2005. Mr. Holder was born
August 29, 1918 in Locust Grove, the son of the late Nanny Mae Kelley and John Thomas Holder. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, and of the CCC. He was an avid farmer who enjoyed gardening. He was preceded in death by brothers, Carl Holder, Dewey Holder, and Odell Holder.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Faye Holder; children, Doug and Jill Holder, Warren and Cindy Holder, and Gwen Presley, all of Locust Grove; siblings, Lois Holder, and Macie Thompson, both of Locust Grove, Ella Capps of Albany, Tommie Lou Evans of Manchester; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church, with Dr. Ed Judy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit the family Wednesday, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Maude Hattie Teate Lawrence
Maude Hattie Teate Lawrence, age 85, of McDonough, Georgia died October 21, 2005. Mrs. Lawrence was born
January 11, 1920 in Fulton County, the daughter of the late Hattie Rogers and Rev. Ira Teate. She was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed antiques and music. Her husband, Roy Clyde Lawrence, preceded Mrs. Lawrence in death in 2003.
She is survived by her stepsons: Roy C. Lawrence, Jr. and Kenneth Lawrence; sister, Mildred Johnson of Jackson; step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services were held October 23 at Forest Lawn Cemetery
in College Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mary Frances McCarty Salmon
Mary Frances Salmon, age 73, of Stockbridge, Georgia died October 23, 2005. Mrs. Salmon was born
June 6, 1932 in Owensboro, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Marion Lewis McCarty and Frances Lucille Freels McCarty of Owensboro, Kentucky. She was a member of McDonough First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Faith Sunday school Class and the Senior Choir. She had served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and was an avid Atlanta Braves and Kentucky Wildcats Fan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Everett Salmon in 2003 and a sister, Martha Terry in 2004.
She is survived by her children; Mike and Debora Salmon of Flowery Branch, Karen and Charles Donegan of Monroe, Lew and Heather Salmon of Marietta; stepchildren; David Salmon of Toledo, Ohio, and
Connie and William Humphries of Cartersville; mother, Frances McCarty of Owensboro, Kentucky; grandchildren, Michelle and Michael Salmon of Flowery Branch, Nicholas and Marissa Donegan of Monroe and Brittany and Derek Salmon of Marietta; sisters, Mildred Johnson of Killeen, Texas , Shirley Sallee of Rumsey, Kentucky and Betty O’Flynn of Owensboro, Kentucky; nieces and nephews.
Services were held October 27 at the First Baptist Church of McDonough, with Rev. Ray Collins officiating. Entombment Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park.

Harold F. Tims
Harold F. Tims, age 73, of Hampton, Georgia died October 24, 2005. Mr. Tims was born
in Atlanta, the son of Melvin Elijah and Eva Smith Tims. He served our country for 21 years in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the VFW Post # 6330 in Jonesboro.
He is survived by his sister, Mamie Ruth South of Douglasville; nieces, Vivian Ruth Shelfer of Meansville, Beverly Norris; nephews, Jimmy Mc-Donald of Atlanta, Melvin May Hall of Conyers, Roger Tims of Atlanta, Michael Tims of Morrow, Darrell Norris of Forest Park; great nieces and nephews.
Services were held October 27 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Interment College Park Cemetery. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
