Mary Elizabeth Guimarin
Mary Elizabeth Guimarin, age 83, of McDonough, Georgia died April 12, 2006. Mrs. Guimarin was born
November 17, 1922 in Luthersville, the daughter of Jerome Franklin and Popie Allen (Plant) Elkins. She married
Carl Lawler Guimarin Sr. on October 3, 1951 in LaFayette. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Forest Park and her hobbies included crocheting and sewing. She was especially fond of the time she spent with her Sunday school class, WMU, and her church seniors group. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Lawler Guimarin Sr.; a stepson, Carl Lawler, Jr.; brothers, Horace Gordon Elkins, Billy Frank Elkins, and Bobby Allen Elkins; and a granddaughter, Laura Kimberly Guimarin.
She is survived by her son, Allen (Pam) Guimarin of McDonough; stepson, Robert (Anna Mae) Guimarin of Jamestown, California; grandchildren, Mark (Kasey) Guimarin, Marla (Travis) Smith, Micah Guimarin; great-grandson, Noah Allen Guimarin; niece, Beth (Jeff) Caudle; sisters-in-law, Anne Elkins and Margaret Elkins.
Services were held April 15 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Rev. Paul Robins and Rev. Milton Wood officiating. A private family Interment followed. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Charles Herman VanNote
Charles Herman VanNote, age 76, of Hampton, Georgia died April 2, 2006. Mr. VanNote was born
September 5, 1929 in Princeton, New Jersey the son of the late Edna Langer and Charles VanNote. He was a member of Berea Christian Church, and was a member of Southern Crescent Symphony Orchestra where he played the violin.
He is survived by his children, Charlene Tigner of Hampton, Gerhart and Jill VanNote of Kansas; sister, Betty Bebout of Toms River, New Jersey; grandchildren, Caitlen Tigner, Jessica Tigner, Carsen VanNote and Dylan VanNote.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Jason William Ennis
Jason William Ennis, age 26, of McDonough, Georgia died Monday, April 3, 2006. Mr. Ennis was born
September 18, 1979 in Fulton County, the son of Oscar William Ennis and Debbie Ann Hall Ennis. He worked for McDonough Collision Center as a painter.
He is survived by his mother, Debbie Ennis of McDonough; father, Oscar Ennis of Barnesville; brother, Dustin Ennis of McDonough; grandmother, June Hall of North Carolina; stepsiblings, V.J.Andrews, ValerieAndrews, and Chico; girlfriend, Critter Whidby.
Services were held April 7 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Brother Mike Register officiating. Interment Haisten/ Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Clarence Gerald Compton
Clarence Gerald Compton, age 70, of McDonough, Georgia died April 3, 2006. Mr. Compton was born
March 24, 1936 in Paulding County, the son of the late Clyde William and Ruby Irene Pinkard Compton. He was a member of Eagles Landing First Baptist Church, was owner of Compton Trucking for many years, and was an avid golfer. After retirement, he went into real estate and development.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Morgan Compton; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Debbie Compton; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Jimmy Kelly, all of McDonough; brother and sisters and brothers-in-law, J.C. Compton, Betty and Hugh Thornton, Lyndal and Noal Hayes, Deloris and Ernie Dodd all of Rockmart.
Services were held April 7, in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Dr. Tim Dowdy officiating. Interment Haisten/ Eastlawn Memorial Park. Please make contributions to Eagle’s Landing First Baptist Church Building Fund, Continuing the Journey, 2400 Highway 42 North, McDonough, Georgia, 30253 in memory of Mr. Compton. Ada Jean Charles Franzen
Ada Charles Franzen, age 73, of Stockbridge, Georgia died April 5, 2006. Mrs. Franzen was born
January 28, 1933 in Beattyville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Fanny Turner and Letcher Charles. She was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by siblings, Gentry Charles, James Charles, Ronnie Charles, Vernon Charles, Darlene Charles and Eloise Newman.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Franzen of Stockbridge; siblings John Charles of Covington, Kentucky, Douglas Charles of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Rosa Lee Cole of Beattyville, Kentucky, Wilma Lofton of Evansville, Indiana, Barbara Dyer of Nashville, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held April 8 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Dan McKay officiating. Interment Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Richard Cox
Richard (Corky) Cox, age 76, of Locust Grove, Georgia died April 6, 2006. Mr. Cox was born
in Gwinnett County, the son of the late Sylvanis A. and Sadie Lucille Davis Cox. He coached little league when his son was playing, and in later years was a volunteer firefighter with College Park Fire Dept. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and the United States Post Office. His favorite hobby was genealogy. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to many.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Cox of Locust Grove; daughter, Dee Ledbetter of Cochran; son, Glenn Cox of Boca Raton, Florida; stepdaughter, Lynne Powell of Cumming; stepson, Jim Sewell, Jr. of Sharpsburg; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five brothers; and two sisters.
Services were held April 8 at Union United Methodist Church, with Rev. James Hood officiating. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Tonya E. Usry
Tonya E. Usry, age 43, of McDonough, Georgia died April 4, 2006. Mrs. Usry was born
in Marietta. She was employed with Allan Vigil Ford and formerly was a teacher at Youth Christian Academy, Mount Zion Christian Academy, and Eagles Landing Christian Academy. She was a loving wife, mother, and daughter.
She is survived by her husband, Shane Usry; daughter, Erica Usry; sons, Micah Usry, Ethan Usry, all of McDonough; parents, Moses Shelby and Gail Elaine Pritchett Florence of Powder Springs; brother, Greg Florence of Douglasville; father and mother-in-law, Ivan and Patsy Usry of Gadsden, Alabama.
Services were held April 9 at Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim Dowdy officiating. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Gerald Edwin McWilliams
Gerald “Jerry” Edwin McWilliams, age 58, of Hampton, Georgia died April 7, 2006. Mr. McWilliams was born
January 6, 1948 in Fulton County. He worked as an usher for the Atlanta Braves for 20 plus years in the old Atlanta stadium. He was an avid Braves fan, enjoyed Elvis Presley gospel music, and old Western movies. His family said he was probably one of Chik-fil-A’s best customers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Stoudemayer.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, David and Cecelia McWilliams of Marietta; sister, Susan Gotshaw of Hampton; niece, Kristie Hill of Hampton; nephew, Steven Shelton of Valdosta; three great-nephews; and one great-niece.
Services were held April 9 at Berea Cemetery
in Hampton, with Mike Register officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Oliver Wade Greene
Oliver Wade Greene, age 78, of Stockbridge, Georgia died April 6, 2006. Mr. Greene was a member of Heritage Hills Baptist Church and retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 44 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Anna Rorie Greene; sons, Thomas Michael Greene of Herndon, Virginia, Timothy Wade Greene of Douglasville, Richard Stuart Greene of Stockbridge; grandsons, Jacob Wade Greene, Justin Wade Greene; sisters, Joanne Funderburk of South Carolina, Addie Laney of Monroe, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Joyce Greene of Monroe, North Carolina.
Services were held April 9, with Reverend Mark Green officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Healthfield Hospice, 770-389-5760. Horis A. Ward Funeral Home in charge arrangements.
London Eric Lasiter
London Eric Lasiter, age 37, of Canton, Georgia died March 19, 2006. Mr. Lasiter was born
January 3, 1969 in Spalding County. He was employed with Respironics where he was an engineering technician, and was in the process of designing electronics for the Cobra Helicopter for the military. He was preceded in death by a brother, Damon Lasiter.
He is survived by his parents, Carolyn and Travis Lasiter, Sr. of Hampton; siblings, Mona Lee of Stockbridge, Larry Lasiter of Griffin, Wesley Lasiter of Hampton, Mike (twin brother) and Tammy Lasiter of Jonesboro, Travis (Bo) and Sandy Lasiter of Hampton; girl friend, Susan Johnson of Dallas, Georgia; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were held March 22 at Old Hebron Cemetery
in Concord, with Ted Garris officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
