Gwendolyn Smith
Gwendolyn “Gwen” Smith, 59, of Griffin died January 7. 2008.
She was preceded in death by parents Paul and Eulah Carlton, Dale Carlton, Joan Carlton, and Kathy Hudler.
She is survived by husband Wesley G. Smith, daughter Stephanie S. and Chad White of Fayetteville; son Paul W. and Melanie Smith of Molena; grandchildren Hayden, Anna, Gabriel, Kaitlyn, Grace, and Philip Smith of Molena and Garrett and Molly White of Fayetteville; brothers John and Bonnie Carlton of Maryland, Lee and Dana Carlton of Maryland, and Philip Carlton of Maryland; sister Louise and Harvey Wagner of Belair, Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 11, 2008 at 12 noon at Liberty Baptist Church, Fayetteville.
Dr. Randy Wood will officiate.
Interment will follow at Griffin Memorial Gardens.

Sara Catherine Keene
Sara Catherine Keene, 21, of Fayetteville, Georgia, died January 3, 2008, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta following complications from leukemia.
Sara was the daughter of Elaine (Cookie) Keene of Fayetteville and Richard Keene of Homerville, Georgia.
An avid Yellow Jacket fan, she was a fourth year Materials Science and Engineering major at Georgia Tech and a member of Alpha Chi Omega and the Pan-Hellenic Council.
While battling leukemia and hospitalized much of this past semester, Sara was able to remain enrolled at Georgia Tech and completed four classes.
With the support of her Tech professors and student services, Sara completed her course work on line at home and in the hospital.
She was a 2004 Honor Graduate of Fayette County High School where she was editor of the yearbook for two years and a member of the National Honor Society.
Over 15 years of dance training lead to her selection and participation in the 2003 Governor's Honors Program in dance.
Her love of ballet was most evident each Christmas when she performed in The Nutcracker.
The highlight of her dance career was her lead performance as the Sugar Plum Fairy her senior year.
A very special place which was dear to her heart was Camp Glisson in Dahlonega where she attended Methodist youth retreats.
At 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 12, a memorial service will be held at North Fayette United Methodist Church (770 461 2409, www.nfumc.com) on New Hope Road in Fayetteville where she was a member.
Sara is survived by her mother, father, step-mother Rena Keene of Homerville, GA, grandmother Joyce Keene Vandivere of Lakeland, GA, two step-sisters Rosie Martinsen and Stacey Lutz, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Her family will receive friends on Friday, January 11, from 5 to 8 PM at Carl J. Mowell & Son (770 461 7641) on Jeff Davis Drive in Fayetteville.

Kenneth Higgins
Kenneth Joseph Higgins, 54, of Fayetteville died January 5, 2008.
He worked for Delta Airlines since November 1979 and was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church.
Mr. Higgins also was an amateur radio operator, call sign KF4ZAV, and he was an amazing cook.
He is survived by his wife Trish; sons Sean & Lauren Higgins of Newnan, Tom Higgins of Atlanta, and Robert Higgins of Fayetteville; daughter Trisha Higgins of Fayetteville; mother Doll Higgins of Tomball, TX; brother Mike and Sandy Higgins of Spring, TX; and sisters Carol &Mark Shaughnessy of Phoenix, AZ and Loretta & Warren Wolfson of Chicago, IL.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 10:00 AM at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church.
Father Thomas Reist will officiate. Interment will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM.
Byron Dale Stagner
Byron Dale Stagner, age 49 of Fayetteville, died Sunday, January 6, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents Paul C. and Beatrice Stagner and his sister Janet G. Stagner.
He is survived by his wife Dianne Stagner; daughter Donya May Stagner and son Ryan Dale Stagner, all of Fayetteville; brother Bruce Stagner of Atlanta and parents-in-law Donald and Donajean Sharp of Fayetteville.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 11, 2008, 11AM at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church 257 HWY #314 Fayetteville, GA.
Rev. Dr. Justin P. Kollmeyer will be officiating.

Cecile “Dink” Williams, 66, of Fayetteville died November 12, 2007.
She is survived by her husband Ken Williams of Fayetteville; sons & daughters-in-law Keith and Kelly Jo Williams of Fayetteville & Kelly and Leisa Williams of Fayetteville; grandchildren Lindsey, Leah, Kennedy, Courtney, and Cayla Williams; sister Doris Hatcher of Trion, GA; mother Beulah Chandler of Summerville, GA; and several nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 16, 2007 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville.

Douglas Danforth
Douglas Francis Danforth, 37, of Senoia died November 8, 2007.
He was a combat veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the lst Calvary division in Desert Storm.
He worked as a radiology technologist at the Atlanta Medical Center, was an avid golfer, and was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
Mr. Danforth is survived by his wife Shawn Danforth; daughter Caitlin; parents Bill “Linc” and Nancy Danforth of Fayetteville, GA; brother Bill Danforth, III of Fayetteville, NC; sister Shannon Danforth of Chicago, IL; niece Taylor and nephew Will; parents-in-law Douglas and Barbara Treadway of Fayetteville, GA; and brother-in-law Doug Treadway of Inman, SC.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at 11AM at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Fayetteville.
Father Karl Duggan and Deacon Al McHugh will officiate.
