Fred E. Childers Sr.
Fred E. Childers, Sr., 88, of Fayetteville passed away January 12, 2008.
Mr. Childers was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne Childers and 2 grandchildren.
Mr. Childers was retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer and also the U.S. Postal service, he had also served in the U.S. Army and the Merchant Marines.
Survivors include a Son Fred E. Childers Jr. and wife Linda of Tampa FL., Daughter Yvonne C. Kendrick and Husband Dr. John K., of Riverdale, Son Michael J. Childers Sr. and wife Jennifer of Brandon, FL. Son Paul D. Childers Sr. and wife Patti of Manassas, Va. Daughter Elizabeth C. Fichtel and husband Ernest R. Jr. of Acworth, Ga. 13 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, Brother James Carroll Childers and wife Esther of Grafton, Va. Sister in Laws Jean Metcalf and Naomi Schering and also nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Carl J. Mowell & Son Fayetteville Chapel with Dr. David Chancey officiating the interment will be at Westminster Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Monday 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 1925 Century Boulevard, Suite 10, Atlanta, GA 30345.
Michael L. Barksdale
Mr. Michael L. Barksdale of Peachtree City passed away January 10, 2008.
Mr. Barksdale was born February 10, 1942 in Atlanta and graduated from Headland High School in 1960 and The University of Georgia in 1965.
He was a Scout Master at Woodward Academy and was the Past President of the Bulldog Club in Fayette County.
Mr. Barksdale retired from Goodyear in 2003 with 37 years of service.
He had lived in Peachtree City for the last 32 years.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Nancy K. Barksdale of Peachtree City; children, Matthew M. Barksdale of Newnan, Kasey Caroline Barksdale of Peachtree City; brother, Drex Barksdale of Marietta; sisters, Brenda Cheryl Garrett of Stockbridge, Karen McFall of Deland, FL; nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday January 16 at 11 AM in the chapel of Carl J. Mowell & Son with Rev. Stephen Soulen officiating.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 10 and 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Maria Jett
Mrs. Maria Lennon Jett went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, January 9, 2008.
She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee March 28, 1917.
She traveled and supported her surviving ministerial husband Rev. Clarence Jett from Tennessee to Texas for over sixty years, thirty-five of them in Georgia.
On June 3, of this year they would have been married seventy years.
She is also survived by her daughter Rebecca Barge (Leeman) and son Rev. Steven Jett (Patsy).
She also leaves behind five beautiful and handsome grandchildren who gave her eleven greater-than-great grandchildren.
Over her whole life, she was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother.
She was an excellent teacher and loved and served her Lord, Jesus Christ.
She will be sadly but gratefully missed by all who knew her.
She was a member of the Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church where memorial services will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, January 12, 2008, with Rev. Darwin Caldwell and Rev. Mike Woods officiating.
Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Union City.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 12:00 before the service at the church.
They will also greet friends Friday, January 11, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Carl J. Mowell Funeral Home in Peachtree City, GA.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the missions offering at the Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church, 1150 Jefferson Ave., East Point, GA 30344.

Eleanor Jones
Mrs. Eleanor Berry Jones of Fayetteville died January 8, 2008.
Mrs. Jones retired from the Fayette County School System.
She was one of the most popular and well loved teachers at Fayette County High School.
Mrs. Jones was a member of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald M. Jones Sr.
She is survived by sons, Jere Jones of Fayetteville, Bruce Jones and his wife Melissa of Peachtree City; Daughter, Ellen Baergen of Rockledge, Fla.; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Saturday January 12, 2008 at 4:00PM at Camp Memorial Park.
Rev. Mark Westmoreland will officiate.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 to 4 PM at the Funeral Home.

Evelyn Thompson
Evelyn Lucille Chandler Thompson, age 93, of Atlanta passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2008 in Baton Rouge, LA.
She was born February 16, 1914 in Atlanta.
The daughter of the late Evelyn Lucille Lewis Chandler of Vicksburg, MS and Atlanta, and Frederick Cleveland Chandler of Loganville and Atlanta, GA.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alton Thompson of Wrens, GA, and Atlanta, and her son Robert Frederick Thompson of Hapeville, GA.
A graduate of Mary P. Willingham in Blue Ridge, GA, Evelyn conducted product motivational research for Atlanta and national firms.
She was a member of the Atlanta Audubon Society, the Atlanta Historical Society and the Georgia Genealogical Society.
Funeral Services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Carl J. Mowell & Son Fayetteville Chapel, the interment will be at Camp Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 10:30 – 12:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Evelyn is survived by a daughter, Judith (Judy) Thompson Landreneau and her husband Lindsey Edward Landreneau of Baton Rouge, her granddaughter Susan Landreneau Richardson and her husband Paul Stanley Richardson, Jr. and their son Paul Stanley Richardson III all of Houston, TX.
