Dr. Joseph Donald "Don" Phillips
Dr. Joseph Donald “Don” Phillips, Sr. of Peachtree City passed away March 13, 2008.
He was a retired University Professor having taught at The Citadel for 4 years,
The University of Alabama for 25 years, and Clayton College and State University for 10 years.
He was a Life Member of Kiwanis International and was a Past Distinguished President of the Southlake Kiwanis Club and the Peachtree City Kiwanis Club.
Dr. Phillips served on the Board of the Indian Rivers Mental Health Home and the Fayette Youth Protection Home.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra S. Phillips of Peachtree City; daughter, Sandra “Jill” Phillips of Peachtree City; son, Joseph Donald Phillips, Jr. of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Matthew, Laura, Christopher, Madeline; mother, Willie Ruth Phillips of Barnesville; sister, Frankie Knowles of Barnesville; brother, Larry Phillips of Marietta; nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held Sunday March 16 at 4 PM at the Fayetteville First United Methodist with Dr. Mark Westmoreland and Bishop Robert C. Morgan officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.

William Wright
William Wright, 95, of Fayetteville died March 13, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Wright.
He is survived by his sister-in-law Esther Wright of Fayetteville; nieces Sue and Bill Casey of Fayetteville, Becky Nelson, and Joyce Wright; nephew Stephen and Emilye Whisnat of Atlanta; and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 at 3:00PM at Westview Chapel in Westview Cemetery, Atlanta.

Jean Rowe Stinson
Jean Rowe Stinson, age 94, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Roman Court Assisted Living Center in Rome, Georgia.
Mrs. Stinson was born October 13, 1913 in Gay, Meriwether County, Georgia, to the late Jay Hinton Rowe and Bessie Bowers Rowe.
Mrs. Stinson was also preceded in death by her husband, Isaac N. Stinson, in November, 1976, and a brother, Jay Hinton Rowe, Jr., in October, 1988.
Mrs. Stinson worked as a Director with the Wayne P. Sewell Production Company, headquartered in Newnan, Georgia, for several years in the 1930’s.
She traveled throughout the Southeast with this company as a Director, producing stage shows for local audiences using hometown talent.
She co-directed many of these shows with Ophelia Colley Cannon, who later became famous as Minnie Pearl.
Mrs. Stinson’s artistic talents were evidenced in many other ways throughout her lifetime.
She was associated with Rich’s Department Store in Atlanta for several years.
Mrs. Stinson was well known and appreciated for her paintings in watercolors and in oils.
It was a special joy of hers to make gifts of her paintings to family and friends.
For a number of years, she was a member of the performing singing group, the MacIntosh Trail Choir in Peachtree City, as well as a member in the choir at the First United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.
Mrs. Stinson, along with her late husband, bred and raised Staffordshire Terrier show dogs.
They owned and operated the Crusader Kennels in Fayetteville, Georgia, from which they sold Staffordshire Terriers all over the world.
The off-spring of the dogs from their kennel won many honors and champions in dog shows internationally.
Mrs. Stinson is survived by sisters Gladys Rowe Todd and Eulyse Rowe Townsend of Rome, Georgia; sister Allene Rowe Gause of Jacksonville, North Carolina; brother Joseph M. Rowe of High Point, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, Georgia with Rev Roy Goolsby officiating.
Interment will follow at Camp Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 on Sunday prior to the service.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, Fayetteville; Countryside Hospice, 104 E. Patton Ave, Lafayette, Ga. 30728, or Fayette County Humane Society.
Edith Higgins
Edith Bernice Higgins, 86 of Fayetteville passed away March 12, 2008.
Mrs. Higgins was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Higgins.
She was a member of United Airlines Retiree Association, and a member of The First Christian Church of Tyrone.
Survived by Daughter and Son Deborah Higgins and Carlton Wayne Higgins both of Fayetteville and also nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, March 17, 2008 at Carl J. Mowell & Son Fayetteville Chapel with Rev. Billy Rowe officiating.
Tthe interment will be at Camp Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Saturday 2-4 PM at the funeral home.
Ruby Jones
Mrs. Ruby Jones, 83, of Fayetteville, died March 12, 2008.
She is survived by her husband Claude R. Jones of Fayetteville; sons Fred Jones of Peachtree City and Phil and Jenny Jones of Newnan; daughter Rhonda and Stephen Baggett of Fayetteville; and grandchildren Ashley and Bryan Taylor, Ansley Gorn, Amanda Jones, Kyle Baggett, and Jamie Baggett.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 11:00 AM at McDonough Road Baptist Church, Fayetteville with Dr. David Chancey officiating.
Burial will follow at College Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
