Elven Gallimore

Mr. Elven R. Gallimore, Jr., 77, of Atlanta, died November 24, 2006.

He retired in 1993 after 25 years as a Superintendent at Merico Foods, Inc.

Prior to his employment at Merico, he worked for Carlings Brewery in Atlanta, GA where he was the foreman over production.

He enjoyed World War II history. He also loved traveling, especially to Germany, the native country of his wife Margit.

He first visited there while serving in the United States Army.

Mr. Gallimore was preceded in death by his wife Margit Knaf Gallimore, son Bruno Gallimore.

He is survived by his daughter Geneva & Fred Weaver of Fayetteville; his son Elven R. Gallimore, III of Atlanta; daughter Maria & Robert Adamson of Stockbridge; grandchildren Robert Adamson, Jr., Matthew Adamson, Stephen Adamson, John Weaver, Maggie (Margit) Weaver ; and brother Dan L. & Annette Gallimore of Lilburn.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 27, 2006 at 2:00PM at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church.

Father Jimmy Adams and Father Larry Schmul will officiate.

Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.

Stephen Burgan

Stephen Karl Burgan, 56 of Fayetteville, GA. and Ocala, Fl. Died November 22, 2006 at Southern Regional Hospital.

Mr. Burgan was preceded in death by his mother Rosalyn M. Burgan.

He is survived by his daughter Shan M. Burgan of Orlando, Fl; brothers David (Diana) Burgan of Indiana, Martin (Susie) Burgan of Indiana; sister Gina (Tim) Sheridan of Illinois; father Bernard (Paula) Burgan of Indiana; wife and “little buddy” Kathleen A. Baxter; step-daughter Angela Matthews and granddaughter Emma Rose Matthews of Cleveland, GA, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 6:00 P.M.

Rev. Theo Scott will officiate.

Sarah Virginia Turner

Mrs. Sarah Virginia Turner, 93, of Fayetteville, died November 22, 2006.

She was a longtime member of Lisbon Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Florrie Chapman, and her husbands, Zeddie Stephens and Clarence Turner, Sr.

She is survived by her extended family that includes in-laws and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 3:00 PM with remains placed in state at 2:00 pm at Lisbon Baptist Church.

Reverend Carlton Swicegood and Reverend Randall Harris will be officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Mrs. Marie C. Radigan

Mrs. Marie C. Radigan of Peachtree City died November 21, 2006.

Mrs. Radigan was preceded in death by her Husband, John T. Radigan.

She is survived by Eileen Farrell of Chicago; Patrice Maucere of Peachtree City; John Radigan of Lexington, Ky.; 6 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren; many Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 25, at 11:00 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Peachtree City.

Father John Walsh will officiate.

Interment Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 24, 2006, from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm, at the funeral home.

In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Rd. Union City, Ga. 30291.

Elizabeth Marie Phillips

Elizabeth “Lisa” Marie Phillips, age 43 of Fayetteville died November 19, 2006 at Healthfield Hospice in Riverdale.

She is survived by her husband G. Edward Phillips of Fayetteville; daughter Mary (Kevin) Brake of Hampton; son’s Eric (Alison) Phillips of Lee’s Summit, MO and Chris Phillips of Fayetteville; grandchildren Lisa Brake, Cidney Phillips, Lyle Phillips and Wyatt Phillips; mother Ann Helinski of Tulsa, OK.; brothers John (Ann) Helinski, David (Sharon) Helinski and Rick (Sue) Helinski all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister Judy (Gary) Schellinger of Oklahoma City, OK.

She was preceded by her father Harry Helinski and brother Robert Helinski.

Funeral services will be held privately with the family.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 22, 2006, between 3-7 PM at Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville.

Interment will be at Camp Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Winship Cancer Institute Development Office, 1762 Clifton Road, Atlanta, GA. 30322.

Mrs. Harriet Bradshaw

Harriet McKenzie Bradshaw, 66 of Peachtree City, GA. died on November 19, 2006 with complications from cancer.

Mrs. Bradshaw was born in Atmore, Alabama and attended public schools in Atmore and Jackson, Alabama.

She attended the University of Montevallo and graduated from Auburn University in 1962 with a B.S. in Education.

She was a member of numerous organizations including Delta Delta Delta Sorority and performed with the traveling Auburn Players Drama Group while at Auburn.

She worked as a classroom teacher and Special Reading Teacher in the DeKalb County Schools where she was an active member of the DeKalb Association of Educators and a founding member of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE).

She was a member of the International Reading Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development and the National Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development.

Mrs. Bradshaw attended graduate school at the University of Georgia on a teaching Assistantship and received a Masters Degree in Teaching and Reading.

Her responsibilities in the Reading Department included being a demonstration teacher of remedial and corrective reading and evaluating Children with severe reading disabilities that were referred to the University Reading Clinic.

She was widely recognized for her expertise in instruction and was active with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) in the school accreditation process.

She served on several state and local SACS Committees including the outside Visiting Committee that evaluated and recommended initial accreditation of Fayette County Elementary Schools in 1975.

Harriet Bradshaw was an active member of the honor education society Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK) from 1975-1985.

During that time she was on several ADK Committees and served two terms as Treasurer of the organization.

She was an active member of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Atlanta in the late 70’s and early eighties serving on the Star Student Reception Committee, the Urban Life Committee, and the Dogwood Festival Committee.

Mrs. Bradshaw is a Patron member of the Atlanta High Museum of Art and a former member of the Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge Organization.

She helped organize and chaperone two groups of honor high school students who attended a series of classes in Washington, D.C. and Valley Forge, PA.

She also served on the Freedoms Foundation Board of Directors, was Youth Committee Chairperson and worked with the annual Tour of Homes.

She was a leader in the Georgia-Pernambuco Partners of the Americas organization instituted by President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalyn when he was Governor of Georgia.

The organization sponsored an annual exchange between Recife, Brazil and Atlanta, Georgia.

Mrs. Bradshaw was on the Board of Directors, hosted Brazilian visitors, and traveled to Brazil during one of the earlier exchanges.

President Carter’s widely known Friendship Force implemented nationally during his presidency was modeled after the Georgia organization that Harriet Bradshaw helped nurture and succeed.

Active in the United Methodist Church for more than 40 years, she was a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, Education Committee Chair, and a member of the Council on Ministries, Administrative Board, and Stewardship Committee of the Dunwoody United Methodist Church.

She was also active in the United Methodist Women, the Prayer Ministry, and in the Interpreter’s Sunday School Class.

Since moving to Peachtree City and joining the Peachtree City United Methodist Church, Mrs. Bradshaw has served as Vice Chair of the United Methodist Women, President of Naomi Circle, and taught bible study in the Grits and Grace Program in Peachtree City assisted living homes.

She is survived by her husband Scott Bradshaw of Peachtree City, and daughter Kathryn L. Bradshaw of Peachtree City.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Carl J. Mowell and Son, Peachtree City.

Rev. Sean Robinson will officiate.

Interment will be at Westminster Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, November 21, 2006 from 6-8 PM.
