Frances Nicholson
DALTON, Ga. - Frances Marie Wilson Nicholson died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at her home. She was 76.
She was a member of Olivia Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Wilson.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Nicholson; one son, Paul David Wilson; one sister, Clara Bartenfield, Dalton; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Atkins and other ministers officiating.
Burial was in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ellena Pettigrew
LaFAYETTE, Ga. - Ellena Lieker Pettigrew died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, in an area health care facility. She was 87.
The Chattanooga native worked for a number of years as a bookkeeper for Shattucks, and later Rutledge Chevrolet in LaFayette, Ga.
She was the widow of Luke 'Shack' Pettigrew.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Massey, LaFayette, and Donna Gibbs, Blowing Rock, N.C.; one son, William A. Duggers Jr., Lancaster Calif.; one sister, Elizabeth Varnell, Chattanooga; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at LaFayette Funeral Home with Dr. Woody Lee officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service.

Myrtis Scoggins
WEST ARMUCHEE, Ga. - Myrtis Elizabeth Phillips Scoggins died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, in an area hospital.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home in Lafayette, Ga., with the Rev. C.F. Strickland and the Rev. Terry Burns officiating.
Burial will be in Phillips Cemetery.
Annie Vines
TRION, Ga. - Annie Ruth Vines died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, in an area nursing home. She was 79.
She was a member of Trion First Baptist Church and was the widow of James Thomas Vines.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Vines, Duluth, Ga., and Tom Vines, Euless, Texas; two sisters, Mary Dennis, Milledgeville, Ga., and Louise Gilliland, Tallahassee, Fla.; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Warren Moorhead and the Rev. Joel Smith officiating.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
Richard Garner
Richard Larry Garner of Chickamauga, Ga., died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, in Centre, Ala. He was 63.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Woodlawn cemetery in LaFollette, Tenn.
The family will receive friends at Cross Funeral Home in LaFollette today from noon until 1:30 p.m.

Katherine Gleason
Katherine Fitts Gleason of Rossville, died Monday. Jan. 11, 1999, in a local nursing home. She was 80.
Services will be today at 11:30 a.m. at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Laura Jean Myers-Ross officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Cleola Johnson
Cleola Adams Johnson of Rossville, Ga., and formerly of Summerville, Ga., died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 54.

Grady Farris Swafford of Chickamauga, Ga., died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at his home. He was 83.

Don Anderson Sr.
CHATSWORTH, Ga. - The Rev. Donald Howard 'Don' Anderson Sr. died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, in Fannin County, Ga. He was 53.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Stamper and the Rev. Bill Phelps officiating.
Burial will be in the Mount Moriah Baptist Church cemetery in Murray County.
The family will receive friends today after 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Inez Balliew
CALHOUN, Ga. - Inez Balliew died Sunday. Jan. 10, 1999, at her home. She was 61.
She was the daughter of the late Edgar Mull and Helen Harper Mull, a member of First United Methodist Church and had worked for the Georgia School for the Deaf in Cave Spring.
She was an active worker in the Local Winners Club and at the time of her death was employed by the Gordon County School System.
Survivors include her husband, William W. Balliew; two sons, Glenn Balliew, Fort Campbell, Ky., and Troy Balliew, Augusta, Ga.; one brother, William N. Mull; and a sister, Letty Quertermous, both of Mineral Bluff, Ala.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be today at 4 p.m. at Calhoun First Untied Methodist Church with Dr. Ken Ray and the Rev. David Gravitt officiating,.
Burial will be in Chandler Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Thomas Funeral Home.
Horace Carroll
CALHOUN, Ga. - Horace B. Carroll died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at a local health care facility. He was 67.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Brannon and the Rev. Leroy Whitfield officiating.
