Charles Wood
DALTON, Ga. - Charles Junior 'Woody' Wood died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at his home. He was 65.
He worked at Dalton Taxi for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Newton and Fannie Jones Wood.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Wood; two sons, Edward and Martin Wood, both of Dalton; one brother, Henry Wood, Atlanta; four sisters, Mary Ruth Arnold and Willie Davis, Rocky Face, Vivian Stewart and Cecil Bramblett, both of Dalton; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlie Bagley and the Rev. Danny Cochran officiating.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be today after 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
W.D. Betton
DALTON, Ga. - W.D. Betton died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at his home.
Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Warren Thaxton and other ministers officiating.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today one hour prior to the service at the church.

Robbie Bishop
DALTON, Ga. - Robbie Edward Bishop, a captain of the Villa Rica Police Department, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999.
He was a native of Dalton, Ga., a member of New Georgia Baptist Church and the brother of the late Sonya Ann Stephenson.
He was a 14-year veteran law enforcement officer. He served in various counties including Murray, Cherokee, Henry, Butts and Lowndes.
He developed a drug interdiction program and his specialty became the drug and traffic area.
He was instrumental in the K-9 program. He trained and created specialized units to fight drugs. He obtained 1,000 hours in advanced police training and received several awards and citations, one of which was Villa Rica Police Officer of the Year in 1997.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a MP for over three years.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Lawrence Bishop; one daughter, Lauren Ashley Bishop; one son, Cody Scott Bishop, all of Villa Rica; his mother and stepfather, Terry and Virginia Louise Hunter Stanfield, Dalton; his father, Clark Edward Bishop, Chatsworth; and two brothers, Rodney Stephenson and Danny Bishop, Chatsworth.
Services will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at New Georgia Baptist Church in Villa Rica with Dr. Roy Crowe officiating and with Villa Rica Police Chief Dean Maddox delivering the eulogy.
Burial will follow in Whitfield Memorial Gardens in Dalton, Ga., with full military honors by U.S. Marines from Parris Island, S.C., and with the Rev. Carson Scarborough officiating.
Visitation will be today from noon until 9 p.m. at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica.

ROCKY FACE, Ga. - Paula Amos Walston died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 49.
Survivors include her husband, Melburn Walston; one daughter, Michelle Walston, Rocky Face; one sister, Linda Walston, Ringgold; two brothers, Glenn and David Amos; and her stepmother, Sarah K. Amos, all of Indiana.
Services will be today at 3 p.m. at Whitfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Cofield officiating.
Burial will be in Mill Creek Cemetery.

Mary Watkins
CHATSWORTH, Ga. - Mary Josephine Watkins died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 91.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Peeples Funeral Home with Dr. Charlz McDonald and the Rev. Doug Meyer officiating.
Burial will be in Chatsworth Heights Cemetery.
Lelia Winstead
VARNELL, Ga. - Lelia Bingham Winstead died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 80.
She was the widow of Frank Winstead.
Survivors include three daughters, Trudie and Nancy Winstead, both of Varnell, and Geneva Winstead, Calhoun; three sons, Ronald Winstead, Varnell, Charles Winstead, Dalton, and Paul Winstead, Kensington, Ga.; two sisters, Irene Hall, Chattanooga, and Deola Clayton, Knoxville; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be today at 3 p.m. at Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Pippin and the Rev. Carroll Allen officiating.
Burial will be in Varnell Cemetery.
Madelyn Lowry
SUMMERVILLE, Ga. - Madelyn P. Lowery died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999. She was 77.
She was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church and was retired from the Farmers and Merchants Bank.
Survivors include one sister, Bea Ward, and one brother, J.T. Parker, both of Kingsport, Tenn.
Services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at J.D. Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Willie Bearden and the Rev. Paul Mason officiating.
Burial will be in Greenhills Memory Garden.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Virginia McNamara
DALTON, Ga. - Virginia Matlack 'Ginny' McNamara died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at her home. She was 73.
Formerly of Pennsylvania, she was a nurse in a disaster unit at the end of World War II. She was also a volunteer with Hamilton Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband, Roger J. McNamara, Dalton; three daughters, Pam Livesay, Lvonne Patrick and Yvette McNamara, all of Cumming, Ga.; two brothers, Harry and Jim Matlack, both of Curwensville, Pa.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services and burial will be Saturday in Bethlehem, Pa.
