SUMMERVILLE, Ga. - Guy A. Vernon of College Park, Ga., died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 78.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a Methodist, and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Alred Vernon.
Survivors include one sister, Mildred Hampton, Summerville; one stepson, Jack Biggers, Jasper, Ga.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at J.D. Hill Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Wilson officiating.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
Marion Wofford
DALTON, Ga. - Marion Vance Wofford died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 64.
He was retired from Martin-Lockheed Aeronautical Systems, a member of Dalton Second Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean conflict, a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Sanchez Wofford and his father, Floyd A. Wofford.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Kuzel, Smyrna, and Pam Shannon, Crandall; mother, Ruth Meadows Wofford; two sisters, Patty Marshall and Vivian Kenemer, Dalton; four grandchildren.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Marlin officiating.
Burial will follow in Georgia Memorial Park cemetery in Cobb County.

Bernice Blair
SUMMERVILLE, Ga. - Bernice L. Blair died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at her home. She was 49.
Services will be held today a 2 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Roach and Gregg Ludy officiating.
Burial will be in Summerville Cemetery.
The body will be at Willis Funeral Home two hours before the service.
Joseph Blalock
CLOUDLAND, Ga. - Joseph Henry Blalock died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at his home. He was 78.
He was self-employed and a member of Church of God Seventh-day.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Blalock; two sons, Joseph T. Blalock, Atlanta, and Dewey Blalock, Cedar Bluff, Ala.; two daughters, Elaine Thomas, Summerville, Ga., and Ladonna Kyner, Anniston, Ala.; 23 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Burt Funeral Home in Valley Head, Ala., with the Rev. Robert Coulter and others officiating.
Burial will be in Bankhead Cemetery.
Wayne Clark
LaFAYETTE, Ga. - Wayne Clark Sr. died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, in a North Georgia hospital. He was 65.
Graveside services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Naomi cemetery with the Rev. David Thompson officiating.
Arrangements are by Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home in Summerville, Ga.
Leonard Costner
TENNGA, Ga. - Leonard F. Costner died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in an area health care facility. He was 77.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Parker Costner and two grandsons, Frankie Barnes and Jonathan Ratcliff.
Survivors include two sons, Julian and Junior Costner, Tennga; three daughters, Shirley Barnes and Sandra Betterton, Crandall, Ga., and Peggy Ratcliff, Cleveland; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday at 1 p.m. at Tennga Baptist Church.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Peeples Funeral Home, Chatsworth, Ga.
Delbert Edwards
DALTON, Ga. - Delbert A. Edwards died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999. He was 74.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Adairsville, Ga., with the Rev. Junior Clayton officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Love Funeral Home, Dalton.
James Gramling
CALHOUN, Ga. - James William Gramling died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999. He was 54.
He was the son of the late James Agustus and Katie P. Stephens Gramling. He attended Kennesaw State College, served seven years in the Calhoun National Guard and was a former employee of Torrington-Fafnir for 17 years.
Survivors include his children, Mary Samantha Gramling, Joseph Adam Gramling, Abigail Elizabeth Gramling, and Daniel Adam Gramling, all of Calhoun; and sister Martha G. Hall, Ellijay, Ga.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Joe Hall officiating.
Burial will be in Concord Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 10 p.m. at the funeral home.
Bess Matthews
TRION, Ga. - Bess Matthews died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 87.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Trion and was the widow of Jesse Millard Matthews.
Survivors include one daughter, Evelyn Braddy, Trion; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Warren Morehead and other ministers officiating.
Burial will be in Old LaFayette Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
