George Harold Minor
George Harold Minor, age 85, of McDonough, Georgia died May 19, 2006. Mr. Minor was born
June 6, 1920 in Henry County, the son of the late William Leonious and Ollie Rose Galloway Minor. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force, was retired from Sheet Metal Workers Local 85, was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of the Forty-Eighters.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Welch Minor of McDonough; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Brenda Minor of Stone Mountain, Joe and Helen Minor of Suwanee, Sid and Nancy Minor of Norcross; daughter, Penny Worthy of Roswell; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, James T. Minor of Tracy City, Tennessee.
Services were held May 22 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Interment College Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Forty and Eight Nurses Training Fund, Fulton County Voiture# 217, P.O. Box 16519, Atlanta, Georgia, 30321; or Henry County Humane Society in memory of Mr. Minor. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Jack Lane
Jack Lane, age 78, of Stockbridge, Georgia died May 19, 2006. Mr. Lane was born
September 25, 1927 in Newton County, the son of the late John and Bell Warren Lane. He was a retired truck driver and a member of River of Life Worship Center Church of God. He was preceded in death by sons, Allan and Alvin Lane; grandson, Joey Lane; brother, Horace Lane and sister, Mildred Stapp.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Charlene Waters Lane; children, Sylvia and James Swanger of Stockbridge, Melinda and Scott Lyle of McDonough, Wendell Lane and Joe Lane, both of Jackson; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Dora Lane of Fayetteville, North Carolina, J.D. and Edna Lane of Milstead, Wanda Lane of Monticello, and Bonnie Lane of Forsyth.
Services were held May 23 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Pastor James Swanger officiating. Interment Salem United Methodist Church. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Edwin Michael Edson
Edwin Michael “Mike” Edson, age 63, of McDonough, Georgia died May 19, 2006. Mr. Edson was born
in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Dorothy Geist Edson and the late Silas Edwin Edson. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired August 2005 after 38 years of service with Northwest Airlines, as a lead aircraft mechanic.
He is survived by his loving wife, Faith Diane Richards Edson, formerly of Norfolk, Virginia; son, Jeffrey Edson; daughters, Valerie Edson and husband George Carpenter, Rebecca Nickell and husband Robert, all of Taylor, Michigan; stepsons, Michael Katona and wife Simone of McDonough, Robert Katona and wife Deanna of Jefferson City, Missouri; sisters, Martha Edson, Margaret Edson, both of Baltimore, Maryland, Mary Helmick and husband Lewis of Liberty, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Garrett Edson, Jillian Carpenter of Taylor, Michigan; Joshua and Kamren Katona of
McDonough, Jared, Jesse and Jenna Katona of Jefferson City, Missouri; mother-in-law, Lottie Richards of Norfolk, Virginia; sister-in-law, Martha Richards Hollinger and husband Carl of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brother-in-law Robert L. Richards and wife Helen of Norfolk, Virginia. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Services were held May 27 at Altmeyer Funeral Home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with Rev. Donald O'Dey officiating. Interment Rosewood Memorial Park in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
A memorial service will be held at Community Bible Church in Stockbridge at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Community Bible Church, Stockbridge, Georgia; Fellowship Baptist Church, Norfolk, Virginia; or the American Cancer Society. Cynthia Anne Jackson Leader
Cynthia Anne Jackson Leader, age 65, of McDonough, Georgia died May 21, 2006. Mrs. Leader was born
January 3, 1941 in New York, the daughter of the late Alice Anderson and Robert Wallace Jackson. She was a member of St. Joseph Episcopal Church, NCNW, and worked as a beautician most of her working career. She enjoyed cruises, traveling, reading, cooking, arts and crafts and being with her friends.
She is survived by her son, Christopher Leader of McDonough; granddaughter, Lauren Leader of McDonough; sister, Myrtle Castro of New York; nephews, Robert Castro and Jason Castro of New York, and Matthew Jackson of California; numerous sister friends; and a host of adopted sons and daughters.
Services were held May 24 at St. Joseph Episcopal Church, with Father John Bancroft officiating. Interment Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Jobyna Lovett Weaver
Jobyna "Joby" Lovett Weaver, age 70, of Locust Grove, Georgia died May 22, 2006. Mrs. Weaver was born
March 16, 1936 in Wrightsville, the daughter of the late Claudie Mae Riner and Henry Ervin Lovett. She was a member of Rainbow Park Baptist Church. She and her husband were members of Georgia Ramblers. She enjoyed people, the holidays, ceramics and shopping.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Weaver of Locust Grove; children, Mike and Terri Weaver of Jonesboro, Alan and Lauri Weaver of Sheppard AFB, Texas , Stan Weaver of Jackson; grandchildren, Mandy Fleming, Lauren Weaver, Mitchel Weaver, Leah Weaver, and Austin Weaver; great-grandchildren, Jaydon and Grant Fleming; sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Mike Tallant of Morrow; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held May 25 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Ed Galvreath officiating. Interment Haisten/ Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Timothy Lee Strauchman
Timothy Lee Strauchman, age 56, of Stockbridge, Georgia died May 12, 2006. Mr. Strauchman was born
August 6, 1949 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, the son of Albert and Dorothea Strauch-man. He attended Forest Park High School and Florida Bible College and was involved in Christian youth work, church ministries and coaching youth since 1972. He loved people and loved to share the gospel message of hope. He was a loving husband and father.
He is survived by his mother; wife, Marguerite; children, Stephanie, Luke, Amanda, Mark and Chastain; sons-in-law, Jimmy Babb and Jason Williams; grandchildren, Garrett and MacKenzy Babb, and Jordyn and Sara Williams; siblings, Jimmy, Judy, and David; sisters-in-law, Susan, and Betty; brother-in-law, Robert Cope, II; nephew, Robert Cope, III; and a wealth of friends.
Services were held May 19 at Eagles Landing First Baptist Church. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
John L. Cloud
John L. "Larry" Cloud, age 67, of Lizella, Georgia died May 14, 2006. Mr. Cloud retired from the Georgia Department of Audits after 27 years and continued working as a senior auditor for the Georgia Department of Education. He was preceded in death by his father, J.R. Cloud, Sr.; and his brother, Denny Cloud.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Cloud of Lizella; mother, Frances Cloud of Barnesville; daughters, Sheri Key (Larry) of Dacula; Cynthia Whitenton (Mark) of Conyers; Jennifer Coffey (Rodney) of Locust Grove; brothers, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Cloud, Jr. of Griffin; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Cloud of Lilburn; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held May 15 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery

Carolyn Mathews Miller
Carolyn Mathews Miller, age 81, of McDonough, Georgia died May 15, 2006. Mrs. Miller was born
August 31, 1924 in Bibb County, the daughter of the late Louise Daughtry and Thornton Lee Mathews. She was a member of McDonough Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Wesleyn College, taught elementary school in Macon, was a real estate agent with Century 21 in Stone Mountain, and she enjoyed animals, gardening, traveling in the RV and antiques. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyce Etheridge Miller, Jr. in 2005.
She is survived by her children, Boyce E. Miller III and wife Elise of Americus, Thornton Mathews "Matt" Miller and wife Sarah of Avondale Estates, Carolyn Louise Miller of Stockbridge; five grandchildren.
Services were held May 18 at Riverside Cemetery
in Macon, with Dr. J. Truett Gannon officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Lung Society or the Henry County Humane Society. Haisten Funeral Home of McDonough in charge of arrangements.
