LaFAYETTE - Hazel Pauline Peppers Massengale died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 84.
Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Pegg; one son, Ed Massengale; a sister, Shirley Saine, all of LaFayette; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home with the Rev. Vincent Cook officiating.
Burial will be in LaFayette Cemetery.
Claude Morrison
DALTON - Claude Edward Morrison died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at his home. He was 73.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Porter Morrison; two sons, Tommy Morrison, Cohutta, Ga., and Tony Morrison, Dalton; one sister, Ruby Arnold; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Pipin and Tommy Morrison officiating.
Burial will be in Dogwood Valley Baptist Church cemetery in Catoosa County.
Visitation will be today after 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
John Norris
DALTON - John Norris of Chattanooga, formerly of Dalton, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at his home. He was 98.
Arrangements will be announced by Willis Funeral Home in Dalton.
Jewell Plunkett
LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN - Jewell M. Plunkett died Tuesday, April 6, 1999. She was 85.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. EST at Griffin Holiness Church with the Rev. James McLain and the Rev. Shirley Byrum officiating.
Burial will be in Griffin Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 3 to 10 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church.
Steven Record
RINGGOLD - Steven W. Record died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 47.
He worked for the Catoosa County Recreation Department for 20 years and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hixson.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ellen Record; one son, Steven Record, Ooltewah; three daughters, Jennifer Roach, Tracey Record and Erin Record, all of Ringgold; his mother, Crystal Record, Ringgold; two brothers, Mike Record, Chattanooga, and Henley Record, Rogersville, Tenn.; one sister, Nelva Wright, Tunnel Hill, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Wallis-Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Melvin Lykins and Tim Shoemate officiating.
Burial will be in Gordy Memorial cemetery in Tunnel Hill.
The family will receive friends today and Friday from 3 to 10 p.m. at the funeral home.
Clara Rucks
ROSSVILLE - Clara Tedder Rucks died Tuesday, April 6, 1999. She was 95.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Sarah) White, Rossville, and Mrs. Adam (Gay) Elrod, Wilcox, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be today at 3 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by W.T. Wilson Funeral Home, Rainsville, Ala.
Jeanette Thurman
LaFAYETTE - Jeanette L. Thurman died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, in an area hospital.
She was retired from Cobble Muse Hosiery Mill and had served as a Red Cross volunteer. She was a member of Peavine Baptist Church and previously had been a member of First Baptist Church of LaFayette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Thurman, and a daughter, Joyce McKinney.
Survivors include one son, Edwin Thurman, LaFayette; one sister, Anna Lee Madaris, Chickamauga; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 4 p.m. at Peavine Baptist Church with the Rev. Gregg Gaddis and other ministers officiating.
There will be a gathering to celebrate life in the Christian Life Center following the service.
Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. at LaFayette Funeral Home.
Charlie Walls
CHATSWORTH - Charlie Walls died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 84.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Walls; two sons, Roy Lee and C.J. Walls Jr., Chatsworth; two daughters, Lillie Smith and Faye Sitton, Chatsworth; four sisters, Mary Lou Jones, Spring Place, Maybelle Davis, Odell Ballew and Aloe Ridley, Chatsworth; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Floyd Dugger and the Rev. Leonard Cordle officiating.
Burial will be in New Hope-Kilgore Cemetery.
Visitation will be today after 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

CALHOUN - Manuel Watson died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at his home. He was 71.

ROSSVILLE - Charles F. Williams Jr. died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at his home. He was 53.
He was retired from Colonial Bakery after 30 years, was a lance corporal with the U.S. Marines and a member of Central Baptist Church in Hixson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mabel Williams; two sisters, Mary Williams and Doris Floyd; and three brothers, Rhyme, Roy, and Ray Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Williams, Rossville, one daughter, Tabitha Scott, Chickamauga, Ga.; one son, Rodney Williams, Rossville; three granddaughtes; seven sisters, Barbara Hall, Trion, Ga., Muriel Ward, Summerville, Ga., Betty Huckabee, LaFayette, Ga., Joyce Turner, Rossville, Alice Reeves, Tunnel Hill, Ga., Ruby Williams, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Rachael Simmons, Chattanooga; and three brothers, Richard Williams, Ringgold, Russell Williams, Chattanooga, and Ralph Williams, Wascom, Texas.
Services will be Friday at noon at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. David Turner and the Rev. David McNabb officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
