Miller Pickell
ROSSVILLE, Ga. - Miller Lamar Pickell died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 64.
Mr. Pickell was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a broadcast engineer for WDEF, WRCB and WTVC television stations.
He also worked for WLF and the former WLOM radio stations.
He was owner of the former Queen City Printing Co. in LaFayette, Ga., and was an avid amateur radio operator whose call letters were WB4UCA.
Survivors include his mother, Lucille Hixon Pickell, LaFayette; a sister, Nelda McCurdy, Rossville; brother, Tom Pickell, Chickamauga; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be today at 11 a.m. in LaFayette Memory Gardens with the Rev. Henry Holt and the Rev. Robert Ward officiating.
Burial will be in LaFayette Memory Gardens.
Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home.
Avery Simmons
LaFAYETTE, Ga. - Avery Simmons died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. He was 85.
He was a member of the Nazarene Church in LaFayette, a retired employee of Barwick Mills and the widower of Arvie Hinch Simmons.
Survivors include two sons, Mickey and Elbert "Slim' Simmons, LaFayette; two daughters, Faye Keel, Ringgold, Ga., and Carolyn Knight, Rock Spring, Ga.; four sisters, Grace Forrest, Glenda Clinton, Gladys White and Elsie Cochran, all of LaFayette; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at J. Avery Bryan Funeral Home in Chickamauga, Ga., with Wayne Lindsey officiating.
Burial will be in LaFayette Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Robert Wooten
ROSSVILLE, Ga. - Robert Glenn "Bobby' Wooten II died Thursday, April 1, 1999, at an area hospital. He was 30.
Services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at LaFayette Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Oliver and the Rev. Henry Hampton officiating.
Burial will be at LaFayette Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends today after 3 p.m. at LaFayette Funeral Home.
Ann Allen
LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN - Ann Cason Allen, a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 77.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur M. Allen; a daughter, Mary Allen Baird, Arlington, Va.; and three grandsons, Andrew Calvin Baird III, David Allen Baird and Owen Cason Baird, all of Arlington.
The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Lea Clower officiating. The family will receive friends in the church connector one hour before the service.
Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.

Anna Bell
CALHOUN - Anna Mae Bell died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 93.
Mrs. Bell was a lifelong resident of Gordon County, the widow of Jim Bell, a homemaker and a member of New Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Harris, Calhoun; two sons, Arnold and J.L. Bell, both of Calhoun; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Jacky Waits officiating.
Burial will be in New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Gladys Bone
SUMMERVILLE - Gladys Pauline Bone died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, at her home. She was 78.
She was a Baptist, a homemaker and the widow of Horace Cecil Bone.
Survivors include two daughters, Geneva Purcell, Summerville, and Janice Smith, Fort Payne; two sons, Gene Payne, Collinsville, Ala., and Steve Payne, Summerville; three sisters, Faye and Mildred Smith, Fort Payne, and Lucille Reece, Collinsville; a brother, Argin Hooper, Sandrock, Ala.; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Wright officiating.
Burial will be in AMI Cemetery.
Kenny Brown
CHATSWORTH - Kenny Lamar Brown died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, in Wildwood, Fla. He was 29.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth L. Brown, and grandparents, John and Bertha Haddock Brown and Ralph Bramblett.
Survivors include his wife, Michon Moore Brown; a son, Beau Brown; daughter, McKinzie Brown, Chatsworth; mother, Sandra Brown, Dalton; brother, Tony Brown, Chatsworth; four sisters, Pam Robinson, Karen Morgan, Patricia Whitener and Paula Pangle, all of Chatsworth; and a grandmother, Jewerline Bramblett, Chatsworth.
Services will be today at 4 p.m. at Peeples Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Murray Memorial Gardens.
Dorothy Hearn
LaFAYETTE - Dorothy Housch "Dot' Hearn died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 74.
She was a graduate of Trion High School, attended Shorter College and attained a civil service job in Washington, D.C., at the Pentagon during World War II, where she worked in several different states.
She worked at LaFayette City Hall and the LaFayette Housing Authority for many years. She was a Baptist and attended Dry Valley Church in Summerville, Ga.
She was a bookkeeper for eight years at Walker County Correctional Institute and a correctional officer for 10 years, at which time she attained her bachelor's degree from UTC in Chattanooga at age 50.
After her retirement from Walker Correctional Institute, she worked full time at the Roper Corp. as a dispatcher.
Survivors include three daughters, Gail Bowder, Oldfort, Tenn., Mattielyn Wrecsics, Bethleham, Pa., and Dale Phillips, Woodstock, Ga.; son, J.D. Hearn, LaFayette; two sisters, Margaret Groover, Summerville, Ga., and Mabel Stowe, LaFayette; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Weaver officiating.
Burial will be in LaFayette Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

DALTON - Earl D. Howell died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 81.
