Evelyn Fritchie Harrison
Evelyn Fritchie Harrison, age 87, of McDonough, Georgia died on July 6, 2006. Mrs. Harrison was born
December 21, 1918 in Marlborough, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Delphine St. Michel and Frank Fritchie. She served her country in the U.S. Marine Corps and is recognized in the memorial for women serving in the USMC. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and being a devoted wife, mother and "granny" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Logan Harrison; children, Charlene and David Perry of Snellville, Thomas Logan Harrison III and Jeane of Richmond Hill, Nancy and Dean Timmons of Cedartown; grandchildren, David and Kelly Perry of Lawrenceville, Kenneth Perry of Snellville, Megan Perry of Lawrenceville, Thomas Harrison IV of Braselton, Jennifer Harrison of McDonough, Erin and Brett Walters of Cedartown, Shelby and Norman Williams of Millen and Zach Timmons of Athens; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Fritchie Scott of Marlborough, Massachusetts; sisters-in-law, Vinnie Shellnut, Muriel and Douglas Langley and Rhenita Peel, all of McDonough; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Mass was held July 10 at St. James Catholic Church, with Rev. Darragh Griffith officiating. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Bettie Jo Tracy
Bettie Jo Tracy, age 73, of Atlanta, Georgia died June 13, 2006. Mrs. Tracy was born
May 29, 1933 in Buford, the daughter of the late Beatrice Herrington and Joe Bullock. She was a former employee of Dixie Finance Co. and a volunteer at Trinity Towers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Tracy and sister, Charlotte Ellis.
She is survived by her children, Sherri and Dick Larson of Boone, Iowa, Elaine Carapia of Atlanta, Cindy Evans of McDonough, Sheila and David Todd of Norcross, Kathy and Hildridge Stewart of Stockbridge, Timothy and Penny Tracy of McDonough; brothers, Richard and Joyce Bullock of Thomson, Jarelle and Sandy Bullock of Acworth; 20 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services were held June 17 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Lessie Graham Reynolds
Lessie Graham Reynolds, age 68, of McDonough, Georgia died June 17, 2006. Mrs. Reynolds was born
in Crawford, the daughter of Edna Cheek Graham and the late Walter Edgar Graham.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Reynolds of McDonough; mother, Edna Graham of Crawford; children, Carla and Van Turner, and Sandra and Ken Simpson, all of Stockbridge, Greg and Chris Reynolds of Charlotte, North Carolina; siblings, Frances McNeil of McDonough, James Graham, and Betty Jo Evans, both of Crawford; grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, Alex, Avery, Hudson, and Ellison.
Services were held June 20 at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home Eastside Chapel. Entombment Athens Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Sacred Journey Hospice, 136 Peach Drive, McDonough, Georgia, 30253; or the American Cancer Society Southeast Division, 135 Bradford Square, Suite B, Fayetteville, Georgia, 30215. Willie Bell Pope
Willie Bell Pope, age 91, of McDonough, Georgia died June 19, 2006. Mrs. Pope was born
in Cherokee County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Thomas and Bessie Compton Mullinax. She enjoyed her flowers and working in the yard and she loved life to the fullest. Most important to her was her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harbin Pope.
She is survived by her children, Derward Lee Smith and Gail Turner, both of McDonough, Mary Johnson of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Jerry Turner, Jeffrey Owens, Teresa Chapman; and several great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 22 at Sherwood Memorial Park, with Pastor Kevin Garrison officiating. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Mary Ellen Craddock Evans
Mary Ellen Craddock Evans, age 62, of Locust Grove, Georgia died June 19, 2006. Mrs. Evans was born
in West Virginia on December 18, 1943. She has been a devoted homemaker who enjoyed her family and especially her grandchildren, helping others, quilting, sewing and other crafts. She was a member of South Fayette Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her father, Ira Monroe Craddock.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Donald Dale Evans, Sr. of Locust Grove; children, Darlene and James Benson of Locust Grove, Barbara and Keith Abel of Ohio, Donald and Joy Evans of Jonesboro, Laura and Rene´ Adams of Virginia; grandchildren, Ashley and Maryann Benson, Grand and Sydney Adams, Rachel Abel, Emma and Abigail Evans; mother, Laura Craddock of Locust Grove; sisters, Emma and Charles King of Ohio, Kay and Town Euler of Florida, Barbara and Eddie Johnson of Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held June 22 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Mitch Davis officiating. Interment Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Brian Hirsch
Brian Hirsch, age 43, of McDonough, Georgia died June 19, 2006. Mr. Hirsch was born
in Tampa, Florida, the son of Vern and Marian Herron Hirsch. He fought a long and courageous faith led battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's)/Lyme disease for seven years. His faith in Christ never diminished and his smile never faded. His motto was "I can choose to laugh or I can choose to cry. I choose to laugh." His life verse was Proverbs 3: 5-6, ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight.’ He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and the Encourager’s Sunday school class. He was a NASCAR fan and an avid sportsman who enjoyed playing and coaching. He was the owner of Eagle Electric and was known in the community as a colleague not a competitor. Most important to him was his family. He was a loving husband, father, brother and son.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Hirsch; and children, Justin Hirsch and Kalina Hirsch, all of McDonough; parents, Vern and Marian Hirsch of Stockbridge; siblings, Michael Lyle of McDonough, Richard Lyle of Forsyth, Kathy Holt of Stockbridge, Deann Oliver of Jackson, Thomas Hirsch of Stockbridge, Rhonda LaTourette of Jackson; wife's parents, Clark and Gwen James of McDonough; sisters-in-law, Regina Hammock of Canton, and Heather Graham of Acworth.
Services were held June 22 at Salem Baptist Church, with Rev. Rick Statham and Rev. Dan McKay officiating. Interment Fairview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Salem Baptist Church, Phase I-Recreation Department, 1724 Georgia Highway 155 N, McDonough, Georgia, 30252. Richard Henry Saxon
Richard Henry Saxon, age 66, of McDonough, Georgia died June 21, 2006. Mr. Saxon was born
on June 12, 1940 in Newnan, the son of the late Alma Elizabeth Roberts and Charles Henry Saxon. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964. He retired from Lucent Technologies with 30 plus years of service. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, fishing and camping. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Everett Saxon in 2005.
He is survived by his children, Wayne and Andrea Saxon and Kristi and Casey Wrye, all of McDonough; grandchildren, Hannah Saxon and Landen Wrye of McDonough; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Gene Craven of Newnan; nieces and nephews.
Services were held June 24 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Chris Reynolds officiating. Interment Haisten/ Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Melton Jeff Harmon
Melton Jeff Harmon, age 39, of McDonough, Georgia died June 10, 2006. Mr. Harmon was born
November 21, 1966 in Fulton County, the son of the late Nell Bowers and Roscoe Clarence Eugene Harmon. He was employed with Sunflower Properties, enjoyed hunting, fishing and coaching his son’s baseball team. He was preceded in death by brothers, Matt Harmon and Mark Harmon.
He is survived by his wife, Tara Boykin Harmon; and children, Tyler and Jonah Harmon, all of McDonough; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Betty Jo Harmon of Sharpsburg; Martin and Karen Harmon of Fairburn; Marlin and Martha Harmon of Riverdale; father- and mother-in-law, Hamilton and Carol Boykin of Jackson; brother- and sister-in-law, Troy and Renee Boykin of Gainesville, Texas .
Services were held June 16 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Tim Keim officiating. Interment Crawley Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial gift to SunTrust Bank in Tara Harmon’s name. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
William Earl Nelson
William Earl Nelson, age 76, of McDonough, Georgia died June 12, 2006. Mr. Nelson was born
September 16, 1929 in Fulton County, the son of the late Gaynell A. Hales and Otis Nelson. He was a retired Registered Pharmacist, a Mason with the Capital View Masonic Lodge, and did volunteer ministry in the Federal Prison for 20 plus years. He was preceded in death by brothers, Everett Nelson and Edward Lynn Nelson.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Miller Nelson of McDonough; children, Mike and Linda Nelson of Loganville, Eddy Nelson of Senoia, Nanci and Ronnie Rogers of Forest Park, Howard and Karen Nelson of Stockbridge; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services were held June 16 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Rick Nelson officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sacred Journey Hospice, 138 Peach Drive, McDonough, Georgia, 30253. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
