Plunkett Dies
LaFAYETTE, Ga. - Olive Crawley Plunkett of Boaz, Ala., and LaFayette died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, in a LaFayette retirement home. She was 83.
A native of Scottsboro, Ala., and a retired elementary and high school English teacher in Boaz, she was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
She was the widow of Coach Emmett S. Plunkett, a championship basketball coach and athletic director at Snead State Community College.
She was the president of the Boaz-Albertville Hospital Auxiliary for three years, a member of the 20th Century Study Club and the Snead State Athletic Club.
At St. Paul United Methodist, she was a member of the Dean Rush Sunday School Class and the Women's Missionary Society.
She was also active in many civic organizations in the Boaz area.
She was preceded in death by her brother, George C. Crawley Jr.; and a sister, Nell C. Kennamer.
Survivors include a brother and two sisters, Edward G. Crawley, Indianapolis, Ind., Vera C. Turner, Scottsboro, and Willa C. Coker, LaFayette.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Carr Funeral Home, Boaz.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. at Cedar Hill cemetery in Scottsboro.
The family will receive friends after noon today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmett S. Plunkett Athletic Scholarship Fund at Snead State Community College in Boaz.
Local arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.

ROCK SPRING, Ga. - Timothy "Jody' Prady died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998. He was 20.

Lloyd Precise
Lloyd Precise of Rossville, Ga., died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 72.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway, with the Rev. Jeff Daniels officiating.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
Barbara Puckett
DALTON, Ga. - Barbara Jean Puckett died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998, in an area hospital. She was 43.

Ordette Quarles
Ordette Qauarles of Rossville, Ga., died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at her home. She was 68.
A native of Cedartown, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Henry Tolbert, Sr., and Thelma Adams Torbert; the mother of the late Milton Quarles, Jr.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Milton Quarles; two daughters, Debbie Wilkey, Ringgold, Ga., and Janice Quarles, Chattanooga; one son, Mike "Doodle' Quarles, Ringgold; one sister, LaNelle Cauthen, Rossville; two brothers, Jerry Tolbert, East Ridge, and Sonny Tolbert, Rossville; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway with the Dr. Jerry Brown officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
Martha Higdon
WILDWOOD,Ga. - Martha Anderson Higdon died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at a local nursing home. She was 97.
She was a homemaker, member of Wauhatchie United Methodist Church, and widow of Ckaude W. Higdon.
Survivors include her three daughters, Mary Jennings, Chattanooga, Nancy Long, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., and Elizabeth Bracken, Wildwood; two sons, William C. Higdon, Wildwood, and Harold C. Higdon, Harrogate, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton, Ga., with ministers Ron Abbott and Joe C. Jensen officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wauhatchie United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Pattie Rabun
Pattie Hughs Rabun of Lookout Mountain, Ga., died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, in a local hospital.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Wann Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Jenson officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 2-4 p.m. and Monday one hour before the service.
Archie Raines
TRENTON, Ga. - Archie Lee Raines died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at his home. He was 70.
He was a longtime resident of Dade County and was retired from Mitco Tire Co.
Survivors include two daughters, Lvanda Moore and Rita Duncan, one son, Randy Raines, all of Trenton; two sisters, Glenda McBryar, Trenton, and Linda Bryan, Wildwood; one brother, Elmer Raines, Trenton; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Church in Slygo with the Rev. John Feagans officiating.
Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.

RINGGOLD, Ga. - Thomas "Tommy' Ransom died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at his home in Ringgold. He was 50.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway with minister M.D. Durrance officiating.
Maggie Riley
DALTON, Ga. - Maggie Morgan Riley died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at her home. She was 90.
She was the widow of Winston R. Riley.
Survivors include a daughter, Catherine Bennett, Dalton; two sisters, Minnie McNeese, Dalton, and Sara Hanks, Rome; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Grover Broome officiating.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.

ROCKY FACE, Ga. - Louise W. Hogg died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, in an area hospital. She was 75.
She was the widow of Leonard Hogg, Sr.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Phillips, Dalton; two sons, Tommy Hogg, Larry Hogg, both of Dalton; one brother, Dennis "Jack' Wallace, Dalton; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
