William Thompson
LAFAYETTE, Ga. - William Cecil Thompson died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at a local hospital. He was 81.
He was a Waterville Baptist Church member.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Cooper Thompson; five daughters, Geneva Brooks, Winder, Ga., Gloria Forester, LaFayette, Elwyn Newman, Oxford, Ga., Evelyn Oglesby, Covington, Ga., Glenda Sweatt, Tucker, Ga.; four sons, William Thompson Jr., Lilburn, Ga., David Thompson, Pickens, S.C., Travis Thompson, LaFayette, Scott Thompson, Rock Spring, Ga.; two sisters, Orene Rainers, Rock Spring, Vennie Bryant, Texas City, Texas; 21 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services were today at 2 p.m. Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home with the Revs. Robert Patterson, Sam Barrett and Ronnie Childers officiating.
Burial was in McIntyre Cemetery.
Jeffrey Cook
CHATSWORTH, Ga. - Jeffrey Floyd Cook of Spring Place, Ga., died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at a local hospital. He was 88.
He was a longtime Spring Place resident and the last mayor to hold office in Spring Place. He attended Spring Place Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Cook, Spring Place; a daughter, Carolyn Cook, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; a son, Gene Cook, Dalton, Ga.; a brother, Millard Cook, Rossville; a sister, Estelle McGee, Chattanooga; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were today at 3 p.m. at Spring Place Baptist Church the Rev. Tim Batchlor officiating.
Burial will be in Spring Place Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Spring Place Baptist Church.
Roy Worley
RESACA, Ga. - Roy Edgar Worley died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, following a sudden attack. He was 55.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Cove Baptist Church with the Rev. George Nicholson officiating.
Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant cemetery near Pine Log.
Arrangements are by Thomas Funeral Home in Calhoun.
Leroy Weaver
SUMMERVILLE, Ga. - Leroy Weaver died at his home on Monday, Feb. 9, 1998. He was 55.
The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home in LaFayette with the Rev. Harley Reynolds and the Rev. Clifford Owenby officiating.
Burial will be in Bryan Cemetery.
Dorothy Whitlock
DALTON, Ga. - Dorothy "Dot' Summers Whitlock died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at her home. She was 76.
Survivors include her husband, James T. "Jack' Whitlock; two daughters, Diane Hill, Dalton, and Donna Jones, Chatsworth, Ga.; two sisters, Ann Crabtree and Catherine Barker, both of Jasper, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Dalton, with Dr. Billy Nimmons officiating.
Burial will follow in the Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Love Funeral Home in Dalton.

Loda Williams
DALTON, Ga. - Loda Brock Williams died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at a local hospital. She was 94.
She was the widow of Sherman F. Williams.
Survivors include her two sons, Sherman Williams, Rocky Face, and Richard Williams, Columbus, Ga.; two daughters, Myrtle Tidmore, Albertville, Ala., and Maudie Wimpey, Smyrna, Ga.; three sisters, Relly, Clara Bell and Dorothy; 15 grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Love Funeral Home with minister Grover Broome officiating.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Gerald Wixom
Gerald Wixom of Rossville, Ga., died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, in his home. He was 79.
A native of San Bernardino, Cal., he lived in North Georgia and Chattanooga areas for over 20 years.
He was a World War II veteran having served in the 836 bomb sqaudron of the U.S. Army in Normandy air offensive.
He received the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the European Campaign Medal.
He was retired from Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino and a member of Lakeview Wesleyean Church.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Wixom, Rossville; two daughters, Tonia Ferguson, Rossville, and Micki Wixom, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; five sons, Jim Edwards, Rossville, Gerald, Craig, Dennis, and Eric Wixom, all of Rossville; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Myron Banther officiating.
Burial will follow in Lakewood South Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be today from 11 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Shirley Templeton
Shirley Loretta Templeton died in a local hospital Monday afternoon, Jan. 26, 1998.

Mildred Warnock
RINGGOLD, Ga. - Mildred J. "Micki' Warnock died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at her home. She was 70.
A lifelong resident of the North Georgia area, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Trion, Ga., and the widow of Tom Warnock.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Rebecca Powell, Ringgold; three sons, Luther John Powell Jr., Muscle Shoals, Ala., William Guy Powell and Pepper Warnock, both of Ringgold; three sisters, Ruth Caldwell, Chattanooga, Hilda McDowell and Troyce Dean, both of Ringgold; three brothers, Dave Jackson, Chattanooga, James H. Jackson, Forsyth, Ga., and Jimmy Jackson, Chatsworth; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Lamar Yarbrough officiating.
Burial will follow in Subligna Cemetery.
