Emma Fannin
Emma Fannin, age 88, of Hampton, Georgia died June 23, 2006. Mrs. Fannin was an active member of Southside Christian Fellowship Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lavern Fannin; and one son, Larry Fannin.
She is survived by her son, Hugh Fannin of Guadalajara, Mexico; daughter-in-law, Marie Elliot of Hampton; grandchildren, Suzanne Shurley of The Rock, April Dodgen and Michael Fannin, both of Hampton; nephews, Joe Bell of Lady Lake, Florida, John Elrod of Oxford, North Carolina; and ten great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 25 at Southside Christian Fellowship Church, with Pastor Eddie Mason officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ann B. Evans
Ann B. Evans, age 64, of Stockbridge, Georgia died June 23, 2006. Mrs. Evans was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose favorite things were singing and playing with her granddaughter, Anzlee. She retired after 34 years of nursing at DeKalb Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Evans; sons, Scott Evans of Stockbridge, Shane Evans of Atlanta; granddaughter, Anzlee Evans; mother, Martha Dean Bowen; and brother, Jerry Braselton, both of Lawrenceville; many other friends and relatives.
Services were held June 26 at Ward’s Fairview Chapel, with Reverend Steve Murell officiating. Interment Hill Haven Memorial Gardens in Monroe. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Horis A. Ward Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mary Watkins Green
Mary Watkins Green, age 83, of McDonough, Georgia died June 25, 2006. Mrs. Green was born
in Douglas County, the daughter of the late Benjamin George and Mary Naomi Daniell Watkins. She was a member of Stockbridge Presbyterian Church, the Bridges Sunday school class, and the Gold Rush Gang. Before her retirement she was the bookkeeper with I.L. Huie and Son Lumber Company. She was a gifted seamstress who also enjoyed working in her yard, and producing beautiful flowers. Most important to her was her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Mack Green.
She is survived by her children; Janice G. (Homer) Ellenburg of Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, Tom (Celeste) Green of McDonough; siblings, Claude Watkins of Monroe, Florence Garrett of New Port Richey, Florida; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 28 at Stockbridge Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Tracey Davenport officiating. Interment Fairview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Stockbridge Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 4740 North Henry Boulevard, Stockbridge, Georgia, 30281. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Joey Brookins
Joey Brookins, age 38, of Hampton, Georgia died June 26, 2006. Mr. Brookins was born
in Mt Vernon, Ohio, the son of James Robert Brookins and the late Helen Marie Brookins.
He is survived by his father, James Robert Brookins of Locust Grove; siblings, James Christopher Brookins and Leah Lynette Dice, both of Mt Vernon, Ohio; and his fiance, Dena Wright.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cannon-Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Marsha Lynn Elzey Clafton
Marsha Lynn Elzey Clafton, age 55, of Locust Grove, Georgia died June 26, 2006. Mrs. Clafton was born
June 30, 1950 in Cobb County, the daughter of the late Clarence Elzey. She worked in the Warrant Division of the Henry County Sheriff’s Department and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clafton.
She is survived by her children, David Lawing and wife Jessica and Amanda Davis, all of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Dakoda, Cheyanne, Schelby, Breanna, and David Lawing, Katie, Lacie and Tyler Fincher; mother, Dorthy Elzey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Suzanne Elzey of Acworth, James and Joan Elzey of Rex.
Services were held June 30 in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Interment Locust Grove Cemetery. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Jerome J. Heger
Jerome J. Heger, age 92, of McDonough, Georgia died June 27, 2006. Mr. Heger was born
May 8, 1914 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of the late Jerome Heger, Sr. and May Baum Heger. He was a loving husband and father and enjoyed bowling, golfing and sailing. He was retired from the Army Reserves as a Chief Warrant Officer after 36 years of service. He was retired from civil service and Suntrust Bank in Cape Coral, Florida. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in McDonough. He served in CBI in China and India. He was the first state commander of CBI VA in Florida. He was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and was a charter member of the sailing club in Cape Coral, Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Heger of McDonough; sons, Tommy and Diane Heger of McDonough, Thomas Heger of Shawnee, Kansas; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held June 30 at St. James Catholic Church. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Frank O’Kelley
Frank O’Kelley, age 64, of Jackson, Georgia died June 27, 2006. Mr. O’Kelley was born
September 1, 1941 in Macon County, the son of the late Lillian Ann Dobbs and George Wiley O’Kelley, Sr. He was a graduate of Henry County High School, attended Georgia Tech, was an active member of McDonough First United Methodist Church, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Sons of the Confederate Veterans and a past member of the Snellville Jaycees.
He is survived by his sons, John F. Jr. and Trish O’Kelley of Bostwick, Mark E. and Kim O’Kelley of Grayson; daughter, Pamela and Marty Taylor of Snellville; grandchildren, Connor and Ian O’Kelley, Will and John Taylor; brother, George Wiley O’Kelley II; special friend, Evelyn Moseley Craig; two nieces; one nephew; and a host of cousins.
Services were held July 1 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Mack Riley and Rev. Dana Everhart officiating. Interment Oconee Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Athens Regional Medical Center Oncology Department, 1199 Prince Avenue, Athens, Georgia, 30606 in memory of Frank. James Wesley
James “Jimmy” Wesley, age 81, of Stockbridge, Georgia died July 5, 2006. Mr. Wesley was a musician and well known throughout Atlanta in the heavy duty truck parts business. He was preceded in death by his son, PFC USMC, Ernest Lamar Wesley who was killed while on duty in VietNam in 1968.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Thelma Wesley; sons, John Daniel “Danny” Wesley (Robbie) of Stockbridge, Kenneth “Kenny” Lee Wesley (Candi) of Colquitt; granddaughter, Katherine Suzanne Wesley of Dallas; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held July 7 at Ward’s Fairview Chapel. Horis A. Ward Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Reena Pinkston
Infant Reena Pinkston, of Stockbridge, Georgia died July 5, 2006.
She is survived by her parents, Reenes Alphonso and Keena Cheri Pye Pinkston of Stockbridge; twin sister, Riley Adore Pinkston of Stockbridge; brother, Dayshawn Amor Pleasant of Alpharetta; grandparents, Rodney Alfred and Rosa Louise Pinkston of Ellenwood, Derick and Joyce Ann Pye of Fayetteville, North Carolina; great-grandmothers, Alberta Bland of Youngstown, Ohio, Bessie Whitaker of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were held July 8 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Brother Robert Green officiating. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
