Maurine Williamson
Mrs. Maurine H. Williamson, 80, of LaGrange died Sunday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Williamson, born Feb. 1, 1923, in Heard County, was the daughter of the late Rufus Sr. and Vesta Robertson Hester. She had lived here more than 60 years and retired from International Playtex. She was a member of Southwest LaGrange Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Freida and Mike Murphy of Rock Hill, S.C. two sons and daughters - in - law, H.C. and Ann Williamson of Gainesville, Fla., and Larry and Norma Williamson of LaGrange; a brother, Russ Hester of Dacula; a sister, Frances Bailey of LaGrange; six grandchildren, Angela Hendrix of Savannah, Robert Murphy of Rock Hill, S.C., Tanya Van Winkle and Tasya Williamson both of Gainesville, Fla., and Michael Williamson and Michelle Lillard, both of Orlando, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Clyde Williamson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Southwest LaGrange Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Buchanan officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at 211 Ashford Circle and will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 until 8.

NANCY POWELL, TIGNALL, GA
Mrs. Nancy Truitt Powell, 73, of Tignall, died February 18, 2007. She was the daughter of the late Jabe A. Truitt and the late Ella Mae Smith Truitt. She was born in Wilkes County and lived here all of her life. Mrs. Powell retired from Royal Manufacturing and was a member of Pope's Chapel Methodist Church. Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 2:00p.m in the chapel of Hopkins Funeral Home with Rev. Wade Palmer officiating. Don Boswell, Frank Hatcher, David Suttles, Roger Wallace, Mark Wallace and Robert Fuller will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Tignall Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Bobby Powell, Sr., of the home; one daughter, Deborah J. Powell, Pensacola, FL; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Judy Powell, Tignall, Bobby, Jr. and Janice Powell, Tignall, and Tony and Kelly Powell, Washington; sisters, Lucy Wallace, Elberton, Peggy Stewart, Warrenton, and Terri Williamson, Gainesville; brothers, Jabe Truitt, Lothian, MD, W.F. Truitt, Albany, Bobby Gene Truitt, Augusta and Mack Truitt, Lincolnton; Mother-in-law, Mabel Guin; twelve grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are in the care of Hopkins Funeral Home.
Ruth Ashley Smith
Mrs. Ruth Ashley Smith, 84, of 437 Priddy Road died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Smith, born April 12, 1919, in LaGrange was the daughter of the late Joseph Luther and Mamie Geter Ashley. She had lived here all her life and retired from Milliken and Company. she was a former Girl Scout Leader, a member of Rosemont Neighborhood Watch, Troup County Senior Center and of Dunson Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Perdue; two grandchildren and their spouses, Jody and Debbie Perdue and Tracy and Glenn Alder, all of LaGrange; five great - grandchildren, Christy Perdue, Brittney Perdue, Anna Alder, Brian Alder and Daniel Johnson; three sisters and a brother - in - law, Lucille Corley, Mae Foster and Dot and Ray Lankford, all of LaGrange; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cooper Smith, and a son - in - law, Joseph Perdue Sr.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand chapel with the Revs. Jay Knight and Bill Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 until 9.

Walter Scott Harris
Walter Scott Harris, 83, of 9247 Highway 100 in Meriwether County died Friday.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at White Plains United Methodist Church in the St. Mark's Community with the Rev. N. Walthall officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch cemetery #2.

Dernell Stenson
Dernell Renauld Stenson, 25, of 205 Cherry St. died Wednesday in Phoenix, Ariz.
Mr. Stenson, born June 17, 1978, was the son of Mrs. Cora Stenson and the late Rev. James Edward Stenson Sr. He was a 1996 graduate of LaGrange High School, where he excelled scholastically and athletically. He was voted Best All Round in his senior class, won the 1996 Duncan Award for baseball, was the 1996 Most Valuable Player in the IP Baseball Classic in 1996, won the 1996 Slugger Award and was the 1994 Granger Most Valuable Player and was voted best pitcher in 1994. He was the 1994 Granger football Most Valuable Player and was voted best lineman in 1994 and 1995.
He was third - round draft in minor - league baseball at the age of 18 with the Boston Red Sox organization and stayed with them until the spring of 2003, when he became a party of the Cincinnati Reds in August 2003, moving to the major leagues shortly thereafter.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include three brothers, James and Beverly Stenson; Thomas Nelson Stenson and Richard Bernard Stenson; four sisters, Sherry LaRose Stenson, Sheila and Dennis Prather, Marian and Rawlin Tate and Lillian and Lige Wallace; and a number of nieces, nephews aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at First Baptist Church on the Square with Dr. V.F. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will be at his home.

Dinky Roberts
Harold Dawayne (Dinky) Roberts, 38, died Thursday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Roberts, born Nov. 13, 1964, in LaGrange, was the son of Harold Dean Roberts of Oklahoma and Luann Blakely Templeton of Valley, Ala. He was a carpenter for Quality Portable Buildings and was Baptist.
Survivors, in addition, to his parents, include his wife of 20 years, Donna Gail McCain Roberts of LaGrange; two sons, Justin McCain of LaGrange, Joshua McCain of Woodstock; two sisters, Tina Manness of Atlanta and Becky Cardswell of Hugueley Ala, ; two brothers Wendell Kellum of Valley, Ala and Bo Hurley of West Point; stepfather, Jerry Templeton and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Restlawn Memory Gardens with Brother Ezra Nash officiating .
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Eileen Wright
Mrs. Eileen Wright, 43, of 579 Jarrell Hogg Road died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Mrs. Wright, born Feb. 14, 1960, in Coatsville, Pa., was the daughter of Elizabeth Mann of Oxford, Pa., and the late Edward Finnefrock. She was employed by the Troup County School System as a monitor and bus driver.
Survivors include her husband, Mickey Etter; four children, Phyllis Wright of Lancaster, Pa., Candy Wright of Parksburg, Pa, Nichole Wright, of Westgrove, Pa., and Victor Wright of Coatsville, Pa, ; two brothers, Steve Fennefrock of Oxford, Pa., and Dean Fennefrock of Allentown, Pa.; stepfather; George Mann of Oxford, Pa.; three sisters - in - law and brothers - in - law, Beulah and Joe Messer of West Point, Janice and Billy Frith and Jessie and Willie Wilson, all of Montgomery, Ala.
Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Saturday in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand chapel with the Rev. Leonard Hodge officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Coatsville, Pa.
The family will receive friends this evening at the funeral home from 7 until 9.

Nina Lashley
Mrs. Nina Lashley, of LaGrange died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at Florence Hand Home.
Mrs. Lashley, born in the Hickory Flat Community of Chambers County, Ala., was the daughter of the late Howard Jefferson and Louella Waller Patterson. She had lived here since 1913 and was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square.
Survivors include two brothers, Andrew Lee Patterson of Belvedere, S.C. and Ralph Patterson of Apopka, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lacy Lashley.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand chapel with Dr. Paul R. Baxter officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the service hour.
