Cornelius Lindsay
Cornelius Lindsay, 82, of Decatur, died on Friday October 24, 2003 in Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
Services celebrating his life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2003 in Grace United Methodist Church, Rev. Sara Isabell officiant.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home; the family will be available after 6 p.m. Burial will be in Camp Butler National cemetery with military rites conducted by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Cornelius was born on March 10, 1921 in Hogansville, GA. the son of Joe and Arzaza Phillips Lindsay. He was employed for 30 plus years by Western Electric before retiring in 1981. At one time Cornelius ran a business out of his home where he repaired small appliances. He loved photography, gardening and fishing. Cornelius was a member of the Methodist Church, American Pioneer's and a 32 degree Mason. To his family he was known as "Uncle Pat". He married
Octavia Teresa Bell on November 28, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: his loving wife, Octavia of nearly 60 years; sons: Calvin Lindsay of Chicago; Cornelius Lerone Lindsay of Philadelphia, PA; daughters: Carol Faye Lindsay of Chicago; Roselyn Lindsay of Decatur; brother, Marvin (Maudekay) Lindsay of Hogansville, GA; sister: Bette Lindsay of Hogansville, GA; grandchildren: Andre L. Tosch, Jr. of Chicago; Kevin Lindsay and Theresa Lindsay of Decatur; Cornelius L. Lindsay, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA; great - grandchildren: Kamron, Isaiah, Shavontae and Marcus; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His parents; one son, Lawrence; 2 sisters and 3 brothers preceded him indeath.

Jimmy Lee Rosser
Jimmy Lee Rosser, 72, of 17D Hamilton Head in Hogansville died Thursday at Florence Hand Home.
Mr. Rosser, born in Troup County, was the son of the late Shona and Carolina Rosser. He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church.
survivors include an adopted daughter, Celene Renee Russell of LaGrange; a nephew, Walter Harris; an aunt, Doris Jackson; an uncle, Willie B. Russell, all of Hogansville; and a close friend, Robert Smith of Newnan.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church on Poplar Street in Hogansville with the Rev. Joseph McGuire officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul A.M.E. Cemetery.
West Georgia Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Judith Ann Burton
Mrs. Judith Ann Burton, 62, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Burton was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and retired from the Woman's Clinic.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Charles Burton of LaGrange; a sister, Jeanne Biggerstaff; and a niece, Julianne Burris, both of Hattiesburg, Miss.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Lori Lowe officiating.
In place of visitation there will be a reception following the service at St. Mark's.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chattahoochee Valley Episcopal Ministries, in care of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 207 North Greenwood St., LaGrange, Ga. 30240.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Julia Thomas, formerly of LaGrange, died Monday at Sadie G. Mays Health and Rehabliltation Center in Atlanta.
The family will be at the home of her daughter, Charlene Patterson, at 117 Clark St.

Betty Lou Hale
Betty Lou Hale, 66, of LaGrange died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003 at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Hale was born in LaGrange on June 7, 1937, daughter of the late Lewis Edward and Maudell Hanners Thomaston. A 1957 graduate of LaGrange High School, she was co - owner and operator of Red's Skating Rink and the Water Wiz. She was a member of East Vernon Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Howard Hale of LaGrange; four sons and three daughters - in - law, Tony and Lynn Hale of LaGrange, Robin Hale of LaGrange, Martin and Patsy Hale of Pine Mountain, and Dennis and Tina Hale of LaGrange; five grandchildren, Amber, Brooke, Taylor, Kaylee and Kyle Hale, all of LaGrange; three stepgrandchildren, Tinisha and Drew Smith of LaGrange, and Audrey Allen of Warner Robins; two brothers and their wives, Michael and Diana Thomaston of LaGrange, and Ronnie and Susan Thomaston of Mountville; one sister, Ann Norris of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2003 at East Vernon Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Chapman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this afternoon from 4 to 6 o'clock.

John E. Williams Jr., 82, died Saturday, October 25, 2003, at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home in Augusta.

W. Alton Beall
W. Alton Beall, 71, of Newnan died Friday at Newnan Hospital East.
Mr. Beall was born on April 13, 1932 in Spalding County, son of the late Willie Lester and Lona Estelle Heard Beall. He served in the Air Force as a senior air policeman from 1950 to 1953. He was an accountant with West Point Mills and later with Shaw Industries. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Newnan.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jean (Worley) Beall; daughters Donna Lynn Beall Pate, Jennie Beall Freeman and Lisa Beall Winstead; and grandchildren Jennefer Freeman and David Freeman.
Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Revs. Don Nelms and L.C. Lane officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street in Newnan, is in charge of arrangements.

Leta Taylor Poore
Mrs. Leta Taylor Poore, 77, of Barnesville died Wednesday at her home.
Mrs. Poore was a native of Troup County but lived in Barnesville for many years. She was a homemaker and a member of Pine View Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter - in - law, Jim and Karen Poore of Barnesville; a daughter and son - in - law, Fran and Bob Herron of Byron; three sisters, Jean Clark of Plano Texas, Dot Johnson of Dalton, and Sara Nixon of Jacksonville, Fla.; and two grandsons, Ricky and Robby Herron. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Poore.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Lamar Memory Gardens in Barnesville with the Revs. Hope Taylor and Ken Chambless officiating.
The family will receive friends this evening at Coggins Funeral Home in Thomaston from 7 until 9.

Ollie Pitts
Ollie Pitts, 93, of LaGrange died Tuesday, October 22, 2003, at Newnan Hospital.
Mr. Pitts, born Feb. 8, 1910, in Chambers County, Ala., was the son of the late Henry and Elizabeth Calhoun Pitts. He had lived here most of his life and retired from the Hillside Plant of Callaway Mills Company. He was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Vonceil Pitts Barnett of Moreland; a son, Harold Pitts of LaGrange; four grandchildren, Tom Barnett of Moreland, Sylvia Barnett Yeager of Newnan, Allen Barnett of Moreland, and Hershell Davis of LaGrange; four great - grandchildren, Andrew Barnett and Errin Barnett of Moreland, and Lesley Yeager and Marvin Yeager of Newnan: and a great - great grandchild, MacKenzie Barnett of Moreland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hixie Pitts.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home with Dr. Gene Minix and the Rev. David Arrington officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening at the funeral home from 6 until 9.

Rev. Henry Johnson
The Rev. Henry Lincoln Johnson, 82, of Hogansville died Monday at Fayette Community Hospital in Fayetteville.
Rev. Johnson, born July 12, 1921, in Hogansville was the son of the late Seaborn and Mary Lizzie Johnson. He was a retired minister, teacher, businessman and community leader.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Johnson Hood of Fayetteville; a twin brother and sister - in - law, Hiram Sr. and Miriam Johnson of Hogansville;four grandchildren, Vern Worthy Jr. of Avondale Estates, Karl and Melanie Carter of Los Angeles, Calif., Kelli Lanise Hood of Fayetteville and Jason Nicholas Hood of West Point, N.Y.; three great - grandchildren, Taylor Christina Money - Worthy, Shawne Holloway, and Zoe Byrd Carter; ; caregiver, Terry Perry; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ola Byrd Johnson and a daughter Thomasseana Leek.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul AME Church in Hogansville with the Rev. J.C. Tate officiating. Burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
