Miles Henry Koone
Miles Henry Koone, 64, of 702 Freeman St., died Friday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Koone, son of the late J.C. and Clorine Williams Koone, was born in LaGrange on June 7, 1938 and had lived here all of his life. He was a retired wholesale car dealer.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Dorothy Koone of LaGrange; one son, Bobby Koone of LaGrange; two daughters and sons - in - law, Susan and Andy Phillips, and Wanda and Mark Costley, all of LaGrange; a granddaughter and her boyfriend, Brooke Phillips and Nick Parmer, both of LaGrange; a grandson and granddaughter - in - law, Matthew and Rhiannon Costley, both of LaGrange; granddaughters Amber Costley and Haley Koone, both of LaGrange; two sisters and a brother - in - law, Mary and Gene Burnett of Lanett, Ala., and Katherine Richardson of Winston - Salem, N.C.; one brother, Frank Koone of Eureka, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends, including Jack Yates of LaGrange.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy Koone, Paul Koone and Fred Koone.
Graveside funeral services were at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Hillview East cemetery with the Rev. Floyd Tenney and the Rev. Charles Chapman officiating.
The family was at the home of his daughter and son - in - law, Wanda and Mark Costley, at 58 Costley Road.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 Sunday night.
Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Opera Turner
Opera Eve Renee 'NaNa' Turner, 20, of 1404 Murphy Avenue died Friday.
She was born in LaGrange July 30, 1982 and was the daughter of Roy Ware and Precious Turner Baker. She was a cashier at Wings and Things.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her stepfather, Donnie Baker; a sister, Amanda Turner of Atlanta; five brothers, Ronald Lamar, Donald Edwards, Roy Ware Jr., Michael Lewis Turner, and Kelvin Ware, all of LaGrange; two grandmothers, Fannie Ruth Turner, Mattie Mae Godfrey, both of LaGrange; a very special niece, Kyneria Crowley; a very special friend, Nikisha Grier, both of LaGrange; devoted friends of the family, Bobby Philpott, Wiley Shepherd, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church on Union Street with Minster Carolina Evans officiating. Burial will be in southviw Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her mother, Precious Turner Baker, at 614 Hill St. and will receive friends at Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home this evening from 7 until 8.

Catherine Ray
Catherine Ray, 78, of 82 Drummond Road in West Point died Friday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Ray, born March 22, 1925 in Harris County, was the daughter of the late Ed Cooper and Fannie Lou Houston. She was the wife of Robert Ray Jr. and was an active member of New Harmony CME Church.
Survivors include six children, Mary Alice Ray Hudson, Virginia Ray Andrews, William and Bobbie Ray, Charlie and Louise Ray, Patricia Ray Cotton, and Willie Frank and Loretta Ray; 13 grandchildren, five great - grandchildren, three sisters Mary “Biddy” Davidson and Georgia Moss both of West Point, Louise Walker of Hamilton; a brother, Luther Houston of West Point: adopted children, Christine Ellison, Monica Cain, Ernestine Harris and Mabel Turner; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby Ray, a son - in - law, Leonard Hudson, four brothers, McKinley Houston, Eddie Houston, Clarence Houston, Ed Houston, and a sister, Endia Andrews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at New Harmony CME Church with the Rev. Eddie Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Union Springs Cemetery.
The family will be at her home.
Mackey - Wilson - Jennings Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joe Lewis Gilbert of 85 Teaver Road died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
The family will be at the home of his sister - in - law. Mattie Gilbert at 85 Teaver Road.

Peggy Pruitt
Peggy Pruitt, 61, of LaGrange died Saturday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Pruitt, born April 6, 1942, in Jefferson County, was the daughter of Mrs. Frances Johnston and the late James Devone Bone. She was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include a daughter and son in law, Cathy and Bill Whipple; a son and daughter - in - law, Scott and Pam Pruitt, all of LaGrange; three sisters and brothers - in - law, Betty and Garvis McKeen of LaGrange, Barbara and Charles Riggs of Birmingham, Ala., and Faye and Bobby Roye of Senoia; three brothers and a sister - in - law, Billy Joe Johnston of Thomaston Glen Joel and Shelia Johnston of Douglasville, and Dan Johnston of Atlanta; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Striffler - Hamby Mortuary with Karen Watts officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening at the funeral home from 7 until 9.

Roy L. Murrell
Roy L. Murrell, 81, of Hogansville died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Murrell, born April 13, 1922, in Walton County, was the son of the late Fred and Nellie Passmore Murrell. He was an Army veteran of World War II and had lived in Troup County since 1952. He retired from golf course maintenance at Highland Country Club. He was an ordained Baptist Minister and was a member and deacon of Louise Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Phillip Murrell of Hogansville, a daughter and son - in - law, sue and James Esposito of LaGrange; two sons and daughters - in - law, Dwight and Amy Murrell of Hogansville and Phillip ad Donna Murrell of Hampstead, N.H.; a sister, Lois Fuller of Conyers; three brothers, troy Murrell of Campton, Claude Murrell of Conyers and Cleo Murrell of Covington; five grandchildren, Brandy Browning and Christopher Murrell, both of Hogansville, Joey Esposito of LaGrange and Mallory Murrell and Matt Murrell, both of Hampstead N.H.; and two great - grandchildren, Christy Fincher and Aaron Fincher.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Louise Baptist Church with the Rev. Orman Harcrow and Dr. Ralph Taylor officiating. Entombment will be in Shadowlawn Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends this evening at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville from 7 until 9.

Margie Williamson Shelnutt, 79, of Snellville died Thursday.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Sherri and Ron Fisher of Granbury, Texas; a son and daughter - in - law, Ken and Pansy Williamson of Snellville; stepsons, Doug Shelnutt and Donald Shelnutt both of Athens; three sisters, Earlene Sorrells of Cedartown, Wanda Hall of Hogansville, Dondra Keheley of Lake Mount; four brothers, Hollis Stephens of San Antonio, Texas, Hiram Stephens of Roanoke, Ala., Huell Stephens of Hogansville, Leland Stephens of McDonough; grandchildren, Kevin Chastain, Derek Williamson and Heather Ricks; great - grandchild, Katie Chastain; and step grandchildren, Jonathan Shelnutt and Heather Gonzales.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 at Wages Snellville Chapel with the Revs. Frankie Southerland and Ed Grooms officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Those desiring may make donations to the American Cancer Society in memory of Margie S. Shelnutt.

Whitaker Daniel 'Whit' Taylor, infant son of Danny and Leigh Darden Taylor of 202 Lakecrest Court, died Thursday at Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors, in addition to his parents include, two sisters, Courtney Leigh Taylor and Ellen Danielle Taylor; grandparents, Arnold and Barbara Darden of LaGrange and Hilt and Sherry Taylor of South Port Fla.; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Loyd Presbyterian Church with Dr. Tony Dean officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at their home and will receive friends at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home this evening from 6 until 8.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Children's Healthcare Foundation, 1687 Tullie Circle, Atlanta, Ga., 30329, in memory of Infant Whit Taylor.
