Mrs. Margaret L. Daniel, , 75, of LaGrange died April 29, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Daniel, born April 20, 1928, in Troup County, was the daughter of the late Grady and Lula Smith. She retired from Milliken and Company after 30 years and attended Concord Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Bill Daniel of LaGrange; a daughter - in - law, Louise Daniel Whaley of Roanoke; nieces and nephews, Carolyn Walker of LaGrange, Charlotte Gerber of Charleston, S.C., Maria Myhand of LaGrange, Roger Smith of LaGrange and Robert Walker of LaGrange; and several great - nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Kaylor R. Daniel and a granddaughter, Stacey Leah Daniel.
Graveside services will be Thursday, May 1, 2003, at 11 a.m. in Shadowlawn cemetery with the Rev. Billy McCollough officiating.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road.

Robert Ewell
Robert Ewell, 67, of Valley, Ala., died Monday at his home.
Mr. Ewell, born June 30, 1935, in Maryland, was the son of the late Robert Leonard and Eleanor Batty Ewell. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was formerly employed with Duracell in LaGrange.
Survivors include a daughter, Amy Todd of Beauregard, Ala., three sons, Robert Leonard Ewell III of Newnan, Doug Ewell of Cusseta, Ala. and Gary Ewell of Beaufort, N.C.; two sisters, Charlotte Felter of Stuart, Fla., and Jane Needles of Aston, Pa., a brother, Lewis Ewell of Asheville, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. EDT at Johnson Brown - Service Funeral Home in Valley, Ala.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 EDT at the funeral home.

Nancy D. Womble
Mrs. Nancy Darden Womble of Hapeville, formerly of LaGrange, died Friday.
Survivors include her husband, E. Eugene Womble; two children, Eric D. Womble of Hapeville and Rebecca W. Charlton of Belleville, Mich.; two grandsons, Brandon G. Phillips and Jarred B. Charlton; and a great - granddaughter, Grace Phillips.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 this afternoon in the chapel of Donehoo - Lewis Funeral Home in Hapeville. Burial will be in Westview cemetery in Atlanta.

Gladys Burton Reed
Mrs. Gladys Burton Reed of 143 Auburn Ave., died Friday at Portsbridge Hospice in Riverdale.
Mrs. Reed, a native of Troup County, was the daughter of Goldie Patrick Burton and the late George Willie Burton. She attended Jones Street Elementary School and East Depot High School. She was an active member of Valley Grove Baptist Church where she was an active member of the Gospel Choir.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her devoted husband, Henry Frank Reed Sr.; four children and their spouses, Wendy and Titus Rachel of Riverdale, Henry F. Jr. and Alicia Reed of Tyrone, Kimberly and Tommy Robbins of Riverdale; and Charlette andCrandall Chambers of Phenix City, Ala.; grandchildren, Tavaris, Patrice, Trea, Britney, Taylor, Kami, Trey, Wesley, Janille, Charis, Christian; a great - grandchild, A'Shiah Rachel; a sister, Goldie Mae andFred Snellings of LaGrange; a brother, Alton and Burton Treba of Jonesboro; sisters - in - law, Tressie Burton of Detroit, Mich., Edwina Burton of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Shirley Burton of Columbus, Ohio; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Freddie Burton, George Franklin Burton.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Warren Temple United Methodist Church on East Depot Street with the Rev. Charles Martin officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at their home and will receive friends at the funeral hom this evening from 7 to 8 p.m.

James Edward Arnold
James Edward Arnold, 75, of Thomaston, died Sunday at Providence Nursing Home in Thomaston.
Mr. Arnold was born in Heard County and was a retired textile worker, having worked at Thomaston Mills in Thomaston and Dixie Mills in LaGrange.
Survivors include five stepchildren, Billie Ray Baker of South Carolina, James Baker, Richard Baker, Peggy Hyatt, and Ann Tollinson, all of LaGrange; two brothers, Walter Darrell Arnold of Thomaston, and Youby Gene Arnold of Milledgeville, and a sister, Carolyn McDaniel of Thomaston; 11 grandchildren; 17 great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Ruth B. Arnold.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Coggins Funeral Home in Thomaston with Pastor Ray Conner officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn cemetery in LaGrange.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 p.m.

Sara Wertz Ayres
Mrs. Sara Wertz Ayres, 86, of Gabbettville, died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Ayres, born May 21, 1916, in Saluda County, S.C., was the daughter of the late James Andrew and Elizabeth Chapman Wertz.. She was a graduate of Lander University in Greenwood, S.C., and was a retired classroom teacher, having taught in West Point for 30 years. She was a homemaker and was a member of Long Cane United Methodist Church where she was active on the Board of Trustees and had taught Sunday School.
Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Harper of Delta, Ala., and Mary Gregory of Kennesaw; two sons, Jim Ayres of Durham, N.C., and David Ayres of LaGrange; eight grandchildren; and four great - grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Abram Ayres Jr.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Long Cane United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Tyrie Nathan Segrest, 72, of LaGrange died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Segrest, born Oct. 14, 1930, in LaGrange, was the son of the late Johnnie O. and Mattie Mae Brand Segrest. He was Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Jennifer and Quincy Naquin; a son and daughter - in - law, Jamie and Amanda Segrest; a sister, Jackie Foster; and three grandchildren, all of LaGrange.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Shawmut Cemetery.

William W. Smith
William W. “Muscles” Smith, 73, of LaGrange died Friday at his home.
Mr. Smith, born Oct. 15, 1929, in Randolph County, Ala., was the son of the late George Kaylor Smith and Katie Brown Smith Daniel. He had lived here most of his life and was Protestant.
Survivors include a brother and sister - in - law, George Allen and Shirley Smith of Hogansville; two sisters and brothers - in - law, Eveleen and Kline Farr of LaGrange and Iona and Randy Rogers of Hogansville; a half sister and brother - in - law, Grace and William Norton of Covington; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betherine Smith and Reba Brumbeloe, and a brother, Alfred Smith.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Shadowlawn cemetery with the Rev. Jay Knight officiating.
The family will be at the home of his sister and brother - in - law, Eveleen and Kline Farr at 191 Longleaf Drive and will receive friends at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home this evening from 7 until 9.

Carol Estes
Mrs. Carol McClain Estes, 53, of LaGrange died Thursday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Estes. born Sept. 25, 1949, in Troup County, was the daughter of the late Frank and Winnie Lou Buttrum McClain. She lived in LaGrange most of her life and was a member of LaGrange Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a graduate of West Georgia Technical College, was a licensed practical nurse, and was employed at West Georgia Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Estes; a stepdaughter, Donna Marie Estes; a sister and brother - in - law, Linda and James Duke; a brother and sister - in - law, Bobby and Toni McClain, all of LaGrange; two step grandsons, Chuck Brooks and Lee Brooks; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Roger McClain.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at LaGrange Pentecostal Holiness Church with Delores Walston and the Revs. Leonard Hodge and Sonny Weldon and officiating. Burial will be in Myrtle Hill cemetery in Hogansville.
The family will receive friends at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville this evening from 6 until 9.
