Bilal I. Waajid
Bilal Ishamael Waajid (Roy Ogletree Jr.) of 1104 Houston St. died Thursday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Waajid, born April 30, 1951, in LaGrange, was the son of Adell Ogletree and the late Roy Ogletree Sr. He was a 1969 graduate of East Depot High School, and received a bachelor's degree in social studies at the University of Wisconsin. He had been a teacher at LaGrange High School and at Meriwether County High School and was community activist. He was a member of the NAACP and was effective in getting the district voting established and had been a candidate for city council. He served as an Iman (Muslim minister) at the Islamic Center in Fort Wayne, Ind., where he served people from diverse nationalities, being fluent in Arabic. He served as Iman at the local Islamic center in LaGrange and also managed a young band, The Ultimate Force, and a local recording artist, Jo Jo Hammett.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, Adell Ogletree, include his wife, Susan E. Waajid; three children, Bilal L. Waajid II, Karmen L. Waajid, and Karen E. Waajid, all of LaGrange; two sisters, Min., Annie M. Holt of Milwaukee, Wis. and Betty J. Haralson of Newnan; father - in - law and mother - in - law, Hollis and Virginia Phillips; four sisters - in - law, Lynn Phillips, Carolyn Phillips, Linda Phillips and LaTonya Hunt - Haralson, all of LaGrange; two brothers - in - law, Hollis Jr. and Christine Phillips of LaGrange and James Holt of Milwaukee, Wis.; an aunt, Willie Mae Edwards of LaGrange; best friends (honorary brother and sister) Perrin and Bernice Thomas Sr.; a special friend, David Hammett, and a multitude of nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Ogletree Sr. and a brother, Joe Nathan Haralson.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Faith Temple Church of Deliverance at 221 Edgewood Ave. with Archbishop Horace H. Leonard officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of his mother, Mrs. Adell Ogletree at 117 Bell St.
Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Miss Charity Elaine Hester, 17, died Monday at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.

Faye Hogg
Mrs. Faye Hogg, 51, of 196 Hardy Rd. died Monday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Hogg, born March 10, 1952, in LaGrange, was the daughter of the late Howell Stanley and Annie Mae Turner Shelnutt.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Hogg of LaGrange; a daughter and son - in - law, Sheila and Tony Blocher of Pine Mountain; two grandsons, Hunter and Grant Blocher of Pine Mountain; five sisters and brothers - in - law, Edith and J.C. Pittman of Panama City, Fla., Janette Finley of West Point, Peggy and Lanny Holmes of West Point, Carol Tanner of West Point and Wanda and Ed Russell of Shelby, Ala.; three brothers and sisters - in - law, Joe and Jeanette Shelnutt of Hogansville, Mac Shelnutt of LaGrange and Wayne and Phyllis Shelnutt of West Point; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand chapel with Pastor Charles Greathouse officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to a favorite charity in memory of Mrs. Hogg.

Joseph F. McKay
Joseph F. McKay, 76, of LaGrange died Friday at Emory University Hospital
Mr. McKay, born March 15, 1926, in Niagara Falls, N. Y., was the son of the late Anthony and Pearl Majchrzak. He was Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of First United Methodist Church of LaGrange. He retired from Kimberly Clark after 39 years
Survivors include his wife, Winnie McKay of LaGrange; two daughters, Debra LeBaron of Spokane, Wash., Mary Denier of Littleton, Colo., a son, Richard McKay of Arlington Texas; 10 grandchildren, Christopher LeBaron, Daphne LeBaron, Brandon LeBaron, Brooks LeBaron, Travis LeBaron, Troy LeBaron, Emily LeBaron, Bryce LeBaron, and Cameron LeBaron, all of Spokane, Wash., and Corey Denier of Littleton, Colo.; and three brothers Henry Majchrzak of Ontario, Canada, Leo Majchrzak of Lewiston, N.Y., and John Majchrzak of Running Springs, Calif.
Memorial services will be Thursday, March 13, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Porterfield officiating.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Richard L. Kelley
Retired Sgt. Richard Lee (Sgt. Papa) Kelley, 65, died Monday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Kelley, born August 26, 1937, in Chambers County, Ala., was the son of the late Norman Kelley and Lizzie Mae Kelley Noles. He was a retired Navy veteran, having served from 1954 to 1974. From 1974 to 2000, he worked for the Glynn County Police Department, retired from the LaGrange Police Department and the Troup County Sheriff's Department and worked part - time with King and Son. He was a deacon and member of the Bartley Road Church of Christ. He served God, his country and local communities well.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Connie Cottle Kelley; four children, Melanie and Jerry Yeomans, of Brunswick, Melinda and Steve Williams of West Point, Richard L. II (Chip) and Karen Kelly of LaGrange, Sherri and Ben Cuningham of Jacksonville, Ala.: four grandchildren, Eric L. Kelley of West Point, Amber Kelley and Cory Brewer, both of LaGrange, and Tiffany Williams of Calhoun; and a great - granddaughter, Haley Williams of Calhoun; a sister and brother - in - law, Margaret and William Pressley; a brother, Dan Kelley, all of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Striffler - Hamby Mortuary with Frank Barnes and Sid Smith officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Hospice LaGrange or to a favorite charity.

Eddie Mosley Jr.
Eddie Mosley Jr. of 301 Carver St., died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Mosley, a native of Atlanta, was the son of the late Eddie Sr. and Amelia Fannin Mosley. HE attend Atlanta Public School and was a former employee of west Georgia Medical Center and the Elm City Plant of Milliken and Company. He was a coach for the Troup County Parks and Recreation little league baseball. He was a member of South Park Avenue Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Davis Mosley; two sons, Eddie Mosley III and Darius Mosley; three brothers, Charlie Edwin Mosley, Wayman Lamar Mosley and Michael Wayne Mosley, all of Lagrange; two aunts, Eula Coats and Lillie Owens, both of Atlanta; one uncle, Tommy L. Davis of LaGrange; father - in - law, Bennie Allen of LaGrange, grandmother - in - law, Julia Davis of LaGrange; three sisters - in - law, Martha Davis of LaGrange, Estell Davis of Macon, and Latasha Mosley of Atlanta; a devoted nephew, Charles Mosley Jr.; and other nieces nephews and relatives.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at south Park Avenue Church of Christ with Brother Anthony Hixon Officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at their home.

Ethel Earline Cowan
Ethel Earline Cowan, 50, of 132 Buck Murphy Road died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
She was born on Oct. 15, 1952, in Langdale, Ala., the daughter of Mavis Porter and the late Earl William Shepard. She lived in LaGrange most of her life and was a homemaker, had worked at Wal - Mart and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Cowan is survived by her husband, Ray Cowan; a son, Anthony Scott Gamel; sisters, Glenda Tarwater and Sally Irene Sanders; a brother and sister - in - law, James and Cindy Shepard; stepfather, James Porter; several nieces and nephews; and aunt, Myrtle Stewart; all of LaGrange; a step brother, Carl Porter; two step sisters, Zona Harris and Terri Peterson, all of LaGrange; and beloved pets, Beethoven and Kitty Doll.
Funeral services were at 11 this morning at the Hunter - Allen - Myhand chapel with Pastors Wayne Greathouse and Josh Forbus and Evangelist Samuel Wood officiating. Burial was in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Mrs. Cowan.

Marian L. Morgan
Marian Loretta Morgan, 70, of Thomaston died Sunday at Athena Rehab of Clayton in Lake City.
Born Jan. 21, 1933, in Troup County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Semith Morgan and Annie Dora Gay Morgan Denney and had lived in Thomaston for the last 20 years.
Survivors include two sons, James K. Canady Jr. of Atlanta and Jeff Canady of McDonough; two daughters, Mary Ann McGee of Conyers and Susan Dixon of Dalton; a sister, JoAnn Taylor of Jonesboro; two brothers, Harold Morgan of Griffin and Thomas J. Denney Jr. of Jackson; four grandchildren and a great - grandchild.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville with the Rev. Randall Hodge officiating
The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home from 1 until 2.

Raymond Eady
Raymond Eady 81, of 205 Melrose Drive died Sunday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Eady, born Sept. 1, 1921, in LaGrange was the son of the late Ernest Howard and Vester Tucker Eady. A Navy veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific theater on the USS Pensacola, he retired from Milliken and Company after 50 years and was a member of Unity Baptist Church and the Ready Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Maureen Carver Eady of LaGrange; a son and daughter - in - law, Kenneth and Julie Eady of Lineville, Ala; a daughter and son - in - law, Linda and Eddie McCollough of Acworth; five grandchildren and their spouses, Alisa and Tony Matheny, Allen Eady, Tracy and Chase Brock, Brandi and Terry Biggs, Chris and Tracy Onstead; eight great - grandchildren: Brent, Britney and Breanne Matheny, Tyler and Drew Eady; and Hunter, Trevor and Travis Brock; a brother, Olin T. Eady of Riverdale; a sister, Betty Jean Garner of LaGrange; a brother - in - law, and sister - in - law, E.W. and Nancy Carver of Glenside, Pa.; and six nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Hilton Eady and Donald Eady.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Unity Baptist Church with the Revs. Bobby Robinson and Donald Voyles officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at his home and will receive friends at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home this evening from 7 until 9.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to the building fund at Unity Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Eady.
