Cynthia G. Whitson
Cynthia Griffin Garrett Whitson, 64, of LaGrange and Orange Beach, Ala., died Sunday at her home.
Mrs. Whitson, born Feb. 10, 1938, in Jackson, Miss., was the daughter of the late William Paxton and Vivian Scott Griffin. She was a 1956 graduate of LaGrange High School and attended South Georgia College. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of LaGrange and Orange Beach United Methodist Church. She assisted in the operation of The Sign Shop, Inc., for 22 years and was formerly employed with West Georgia Health Systems and LaGrange Moulding.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Whitson of LaGrange; a son and daughter - in - law, Steve and Missy Garrett; a daughter and son - in - law, Jill and Scott Hale; a stepson, Randy Whitson; a stepdaughter and her husband, Donna and Keith Lankford, all of LaGrange; six grandchildren, Shelly and Lindsey Garrett, Holeigh and Pax Herrin and Laura Hale and Gunner Lankford; a sister and brother - in - law, Sue and Bill Goodwin; nieces, Catherine Goodwin of Pine Mountain, Virginia Lovell of Pace, Fla., and Laurie Reece of Canton; an aunt and uncle, Clara and Charles Birdsong of Winter Haven, Fla., her in - laws, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Whitson of Coker, Ala.; a sister - in - law, two brothers - in - law, and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Hunter - Allen Myhand chapel with the Revs. Helen Henry and Richard Brooks officiating. Entombment will be in Shadowlawn Mausoleum.
The family will be at 113 Timberidge Drive and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 5 until 7.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Orange Beach United Methodist Church, Canal Road, Orange Beach, Ala., 36561, or the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, GIST Research Fund, 44 Binney Street, Boston, Mass. 20115, or the Mary Will Thompson Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church of LaGrange.

Dr. Richard B. Ross
Dr. Richard Boone Ross Sr., 84, beloved husband and father, of 814 Camellia Drive, died Sunday at his home.
Dr. Ross, born July 18, 1918, in Kolar, India, was the son of the late Rev. Marcellus Dow and Annie Sams Ross. He was a retired Army captain, having served in World War II and was a retired dentist, practicing in LaGrange for 52 years. He was a member of the American Dental Association, a life member of the Georgia Dental Association, past president of the Western District Dental Society, served on the Georgia Board of Dentistry for five years. He was a former member of the Lions Club and an avid supporter and member of the LaGrange Troup County Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ross of LaGrange; four daughters and sons - in - law, Nancy Ross Hearn and Tommy Hearn of Riverdale, Katherine Ross Colicchio and David Colicchio of West Palm Beach, Fla., Marrie Ross Dobbins and Ralph Dobbins of Gadsden, Ala., and Tiffany Ross Payne and David Payne of LaGrange; one son and daughter - in - law, Lawson Bimm Allen Sr. and Jeanine Allen of Bridgeport, W. Va.; eleven grandchildren, Marie Hearn, Deborah Hearn, Bill Hearn, and Amanda Hearn, all of Riverdale, Chemdah Colocchio of West Palm Beach, Fla., Lawson Bimm Allen Jr., Lauren Elise Allen and Mallory Kate Allen, all of Bridgeport, W.Va., Rushton Conrad Dobbins and Lily Margaret Dobbins, both of Gadsden, Ala. and Stewart Ross Payne of LaGrange. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Ross Jr. and grandchildren, Richard Ross Hearn and Wendy Hearn.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Shadowlawn cemetery with Dr. Paul R. Baxter of LaGrange and Dr. Todd Henderson of Sylacauga, Ala. officiating.
The family will receive friends this evening at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home from 6 until 9.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Together We Grow Fund, Hospice LaGrange or to First United Methodist Church of LaGrange in memory of Dr. Ross.

Herman M Sanders
Herman M. Sanders, 74, died Sunday at his home.
Mr. Sanders, born in LaGrange, was the son of the late W.L. and Edna Knight Sanders. He was an Army veteran and was a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army Reserve. He had lived in Macon most of his life, and was a retired comptroller from Burns Brick, Merry Brothers Brick and Boral Brick Company after 47 years. He was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church where he was also a member and former secretary of the Ralph Newton Sunday school class. He also service as deacon and treasurer. He was a member of the Men's Bridge Club for 42 years.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy P. Sanders of Macon; daughters and son - in - law, Terri S. Yeomans of Macon and Vickie and Bill Martin of Flowery Branch; four grandchildren, Justin S. Adkins and Josh Yeomans, both of Macon and Rob Martin and Elizabeth Martin both of Flowery Branch; a great - grandson, Devon Adkins of Macon; and a brother, Ed Sanders of Eastman.
Graveside services were at 11 this morning in r Riverside cemetery in Macon with Dr. E.C. Sheehan officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ingleside Baptist Church Building Fund, 834, Wimbish Road, Macon, Ga., 31210, in memory of Mr. Sanders.

Isaiah Y. McCormick
Isaiah Y. McCormick, four months old, of 117 Commerce Court, died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Survivors include his mother, Kimberly Daniel; his father, Donnie McCormick; grandparents, Patsy and Charles Lawhorn and Angela Daniel, all of LaGrange and Harion Ellis of Columbus; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand chapel with the Rev. Mike Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 until 8.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Egleston Hospital, 1405 Clifton Road, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia. Attention: S. Heart Center.

Mrs. Arline Wright
Mrs. Arline (Granny) Wright, 81, of 27 Oak St., died Saturday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Wright, born Feb. 22, 1921, in LaGrange, was the daughter of the late Curtis D. and Ella Mae Lynch Bledsoe. She had lived here all her life and retired from West Point Stevens. She was a member of Baptist Tabernacle.
Survivors include, two sons, Phillip and Jean King of LaGrange and Thomas and Aboungleen King of Rockmart; a brother, Leonard Bledsoe of Columbus; two sisters, Eunice Costley of LaGrange and Florinell Harry of Roanoke, Ala.; 12 grandchildren, 33 great - grandchildren and 17 great - great - grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Lee King.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Baptist Tabernacle with the Rev. Jimmy McMillian officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will be at her home and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 9. Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Baptist Tabernacle in memory of Mrs. Wright

Mrs. Pearl Veal Knott, 60, of Jonesboro and a native of Troup County, died Sunday at southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale.

Randy Railey
Randy Railey, 46, of LaGrange died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Railey, born Nov. 6, 1956, in Fulton County, was the son of Jodie W. and Mary Ann Cammons Railey of LaGrange. He had served in the Georgia National Guard and was a self - employed painter. He was a member of Gray Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include four daughters, Tasha Railey, Brittney Railey, Ashley Railey, and Heather Railey, all of LaGrange; one son, Ryan Railey of Kentucky; two sisters and brothers - in - law, Delores and Greg Bowen of LaGrange, and Phyllis and Rickey Brannon of Gay; two brothers and one sister - in - law, Wayne and Pam Railey of Franklin and Darrell Railey of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Striffler Hamby Mortuary with the Revs. Debbie Kendrick and Barbara Adamson officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of his sister and brother - in - law, Delores and Greg Bowen, and will receive friends this evening from 7 until 9 at the funeral home.

Irene Nichols
Mrs. Irene Whitmore Nichols, 82, of Rome, formerly of Columbus, died Thursday in a Rome hospital.
Mrs. Nichols, a native of Woodland, Ala., and born June 28, 1920, was the daughter of the late Harvey Vester and Pearl Buchanan Whitmore. She lived in Columbus most of her life, working as a cosmetologist and in the apparel industry. During World War II she worked for Bell Aircraft in Marietta assembling wing assemblies for B - 52 bombers. She had been a member of Morningside Baptist Church in Columbus since 1953 where she worked in the church library and visitation programs and taught middle school youth in Sunday school.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Pierce A. Nichols of Rome; siblings, Sherman Whitmore of Woodland Ala., Loyce Whitmore Parker of Whitesburg, Elizabeth Whitmore Hicks and Alfred Whitmore, both of LaGrange and Rachel Whitmore Bethea of Opelika, Ala.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
she was preceded in death by siblings, Clestell Whitmore Daniel, Ernest Whitmore, Magdalene Whitmore Buchanan, Jimmy Ray Whitmore, Harvey Vester Whitmore JR., Vesmer Whitmore Blount, Wallace Whitmore, Sylvester Whitmore, Fonzie Whitmore, Linda Ann Whitmore and Joe Whitmore.
Funeral services will be at noon CST today at Providence Baptist Church in Woodland Ala. with the Rev. David Daniel officiating. The body will be at the church where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Daniel Funeral Home of Rome is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Martha Harman
Mrs. Martha Williams Harman, 87, of Odessadale, formerly of Columbus, died Friday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Williams, born March 9, 1915, in Odessadale, was the daughter of the late Dr. Virgil Gaines and Annie Lou Dunlap Williams. She had lived in Odessadale most of her life. She taught school for 33 years in elementary schools in Greenville and Mountville. She was a member of Odessadale United Methodist Church where she was Sunday school superintendent, a Sunday school teacher, church pianist and a member of the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include two sons and daughters - in - law, Claude Jr. and Mary Anne Harwell Harman of Greenville and Gaines and Donna McCannon Harman of Duluth; three grandchildren, Merriman Harman of Atlanta, Kathryn Harman of Greenville, and Gaines Jr. and Jori Harman of Duluth; two great - grandchildren, Claire Harman and Cannon Harman both of Duluth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude P. Harman Sr.; a daughter, Anne L. Harman; a brother, Gaines Williams; and two sisters, Louise Brasch and Mary Harman.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Odessadale United Methodist Church on Harman Road with the Rev. Marion M. Shivers and Pastor Diane May Schultheiss officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at 422 LaGrange St., in Greenville and will receive friends at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home this evening from 6 until 8.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Odessadale United Methodist Church in memory of Mrs. Harman.

Joe Sanders
Joe Sanders, 28, of 6290 Whitesville Road Tuesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Sanders, born August 8, 1974, in Miami, Fla., was the son of Coetha Sanders and Arthur Johnson. He was formerly employed at Ropak Corporation as a machine operator.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include two brothers, Curtis and Judy Glass of Clarksville, Tenn., and Arthur Sanders of West Point; four sisters, Teresa Ann Glass, Angela Glass, Rosa West and Jornita and Larry Turner, all of LaGrange; three half sisters, Minnie McGhee of Hamilton, Brenda and Charlie Buggs of Pine Mountain and Charlotte and Victor Crowder of LaGrange; 17 nephews; six nieces; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at William Grove Church of Deliverance in Pine Mountain with the Rev. Lewis Trammell officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Baptist Church cemetery in Pine Mountain.
The family will be at the home of his sister, Rosa West, at 510 Milam St.
Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
