Tamatha L. Skipper
Tamatha Louise Skipper, 33, of 200 Riley Sr., died Thursday at her home.
Mrs. Skipper was born Dec. 27, 1969 in Troup County. She was a member of Victory Fellowship in Bremen.
Survivors include her husband, Keith Skipper of LaGrange; a daughter, Angel Scott of Hogansville, a son, Justin Skipper; her mother and stepfather, Barbara and Raymond Miller; grandmothers, Edna Bailey of LaGrange and Dorothy Bolt of Alexander City, Ala.; a sister, Marie Bolt of Phenix City, Ala.; 10 brothers and their spouses, James Moody of LaGrange; Carey and Kelly Moody of Bremen, Gideon and Tanya Moody of Fresno, Calif., Jamie and Linda Bolt, Greg and Leigh Ann Bolt, Shane Bolt and Glynn Bolt, all of Phenix City, Ala., Vernon and Carla Bolt of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Dwight Miller and Mike and BeeBe Miller, all of Pine Mountain; and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, James Charles Bolt and a brother, Matthew Bolt.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Murphy Avenue Church of Christ with Evangelist Alton Bailey officiating.
The family will receive friends at 1305 Murphy Ave., the little house next to the church, Saturday evening from 6 until 8. Flowers will be received there from 2 to 4.

Margaret T. Garrett
Mrs. Margaret Taylor Garrett, of Avondale Estates, formerly of LaGrange, died Jan. 20, 2003.
Mrs. Garrett was born March 27, 1926 in Lincolnton, N.C. After graduation from Lincolnton High School, she moved to LaGrange and married Tommy Garrett in 1947. She retired from Decatur Federal Savings and Loan after 20 years of service.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Thomas J. Garrett of Avondale Estates; a son, Michael T. Garrett of Oakton; two daughters and sons - in - law, Pam and Mike Hereford of Snellville and Donna and Rob Bates of Loganville; four granddaughters; two grandsons; and a great - granddaughter.
Funeral services were Thursday at Avondale First Baptist Church.

Michael Cortez Tiggs
Michael Cortez Tiggs, 31, of 269 Apricot St., in the Odessadale Community died Tuesday at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston.
The family will be at the home of his mother, Beatrice Tiggs at 269 Apricot St., and at the home of his father, Robert Tiggs, at 257 Odessa Road, both in the Odessadale Community.
Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Edwin M. Gore
Edwin M. Gore, 85, of 854 Cherokee Road, LaGrange, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at Hospice LaGrange after an extended illness.
Mr. Gore, born March 30, 1917, in Heard County, was the eldest of five children of Mr. and Mrs. Joe S. Gore. He moved to LaGrange in the early 1920's and attended school at Southwest LaGrange School from 1924 to 1930. He attended LaGrange High School and graduated in 1934. He worked for Callaway Mills from 1934 to 1938, first in the Personnel Office and then in the Cotton Department. He attended college at Emory - at - Oxford for two quarters in 1938 with an excellent academic record, and then returned to LaGrange to help his father begin the textile waste business of Joe S. Gore & Son, Inc.
Mr. Gore married Jane Elizabeth Weathers in June of 1943. He served in the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1945 as an aerial navigator and radar bombardier, attaining the rank of first lieutenant. He was stationed with the 20th Air Force on Guam. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with one bronze service star, the Air Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and the American Theater Ribbon.
His civic activities while a citizen of LaGrange were many. He was a charter member of the LaGrange Kiwanis Club in 1940, received the George F. Hixson Fellowship from Kiwanis International in 1995, and was a Kiwanian for 62 years. He served as a member of the LaGrange Board of Education from 1957 through 1960. He was awarded the Silver Beaver Award for meritorious service to Boy Scouts in 1959 and was president of the West Georgia Council of Boy Scouts in 1960. He was president of the Textile Waste Association in 1962. He served as a member of the LaGrange City Council for 26 years from 1964 to 1990 and the board of directors of Camp Viola from 1972 until 2002. Other local organizations he served included the United Way, West Georgia Technical College, Community Action for Improvement, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Chamber of Commerce, Troup County Historical Society, LaGrange Community Concert Association, and the Chattahoochee Valley Art Museum. He chaired the Troup County Commission on the Bicentennial of the US Constitution in 1987. He was a former president of Highland Country Club, director of C&S; Bank, and trustee of LaGrange College. He was a member of the First Baptist Church on the Square and served in many capacities. He chaired the Finance Committee, chaired the Board of Deacons twice, chaired the Personnel Committee twice, and chaired the Pastor Search Committee in 1982, helping to bring Dr. Paul Baxter to LaGrange.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Weathers Gore of LaGrange; three sons and two daughters - in - law, Joe and Alice Gore of Wrens, Bill Gore of Atlanta, and Tom and Selma Gore of LaGrange; three sisters and their families, Mrs. Robert Taylor and Mr. and Mrs. James A. Daniel, Sr., all of LaGrange, and Mrs. John A. Bryant, Sr. of Louisville, Ky.; a sister - in - law Mrs. Gwen Lott of LaGrange; five grandchildren and their families, Lisa and Roland Zirkle of Clarksville, Tenn., Thom and Amy Gore of LaVergne, Tenn., and Thomas Gore, Andrew Gore and Elizabeth Gore, all of LaGrange; one great grandson, Benjamin Zirkle; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Floy Tillman of Milledgeville.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church on the Square with Dr. Paul R. Baxter officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary.
Flowers are appreciated but those so desiring may contribute to a favorite charity in memory of Mr. Gore.
Arrangements are being directed by Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Road.

Robert J. McVay
Robert J. McVay, 79, of Lanett, Ala., died Saturday at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala.
Mr. McVay, born September 25, 1923, in Clay County, Ala., was an Army veteran of World War II and a Purple Heart recipient. He was the owner - operator of McVay Roofing Company. Prior to his roofing business he was employed by Meadow Gold Dairy for many years. He was known as a compassionate, generous man and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters - in - law, Dallas McVay of Greenville, Ala., and Durwood and Gloria McVay of LaGrange; two daughters and a son - in - law, Doreen McVay of Dawsonville, Ga., and Delaine and Steve Gibson of West Point; six grandchildren and seven great - grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Mae McVay, and a son, Dale McVay.
Funeral services will be in the chapel of Johnson Brown Service Funeral Home in Valley, Ala., at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Dr. Kenneth Overby and the Rev. Gerald Sykes officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening at the funeral home from 7 until 9.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Calvary Baptist Church in memory of Mr. McVay.

Alma Sanders Hill
Alma Sanders Hill, 99, of Valdosta, formerly of LaGrange, died Sunday at her home.
Mrs. Hill, born Feb. 18, 1903, was the daughter of the late William Henry and Susie Allen Sanders. Miss Alma (Mama Hill) and her late husband were grocery store owners in Opelika for over 25 years. She was a member of the Morningside Baptist Church in Valdosta and a former member of Rosemont Baptist Church where she was active in many of it's ministries, including the prison ministry.
Survivors include her son, Charles (Red) Hill of Opelika, Ala.; a daughter and son - in - law, Barbara H. McLeod, and Bryan Caldwell, of Valdosta; a daughter - in - law, Rosemary Hill of Laplata, Md.; five grandchildren including Tony Hill of LaGrange; six great - grandchildren; nieces and nephews including those she called her own, Donna, Mike, Susie, Tim, Kerry, and Mari Anne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Calvin Hill.
Funeral services will be at 2 this afternoon at First Baptist Church in Opelika with the Rev. Max McCord officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rosemont Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Hill.

Funeral services for Richard Gann, 61, of Newnan will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Claude A.. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville with the Revs. James Calhoun and David Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

Mrs. Rosie Lee Dean of 1506 Brownwood Ave., died Sunday at her home.

Anna Lillian Lewis
Anna Lillian Jayne Lewis, 82, of Athens, formerly of LaGrange, died Thursday.
Mrs. Lewis was the daughter of the late Clarence P. Jayne and Mary Gibson Jayne Phelps. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Beech Haven Baptist Church in Athens.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, Howard Raymond Lewis Sr.; two sons and a daughter - in - law, Howard Raymond Lewis Jr. and Robert Scott and Stacy W. Lewis, all of Athens; a brother - in - law and sister - in - law, Paul and Ilah Lewis of Palm Harbor, Fla., a grandson, Jeffrey Todd Lewis; and a niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by a sister, Charlene Jeans.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Bernstein Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Stewart Simms Jr., Dr. Jim Griffith and Dr. Pat Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Oconee Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 until 9 at the funeral home.

Evelyn Tollerson
Evelyn Tollerson, 95, of LaGrange, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2003, at Spalding Regional Hospital in Griffin.
Mrs. Tollerson, born July 7, 1907, in LaGrange, was the daughter of the late John Henry and Callie Agnes Smith Hines. She retired from Callaway Mills Company and was a member of Bartley Road Church of Christ.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Joyce Lane of Hendersonville, Tenn.; a stepson and his wife, Roy Jr. and Linda Tollerson of Warm Springs; and several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Jackie Haliwanger, and nephews, Artis Brown and Ken Richards. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Tollerson Sr., and sisters and brothers, Jani Brown, Dewey Hines, Earnest Hines, Kate Houston, Eley Hines, Quinton Hines, Durward Hines and Violet Richards.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003 in the chapel of Striffler - Hamby Mortuary with the Rev. Gary Hill officiating. Burial will be in Hillview East Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Jannie Mae Reeves
Jannie Mae Reeves, 51, of 100 Baptist Drive in Hogansville died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church in Hogansville with the Revs. Joseph McGuire and Larry Reeves officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul A.M.E. Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Bertha Monguane
Mrs. Bertha (Mammie) Harrison Monguane, 77, of 709 East Depot St., died Tuesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Monguane, born March 7, 1925, in Troup County, was the daughter of the late Henry and Lucille Cofield Harrison. She was employed as a cook at Highland Country Club and was a member of Wehadkee Baptist Church in the Abbottsford Community.
Survivors include three daughters and sons - in - law, Bertha and William Dean, Carrie and Randy Mays, and Marian and Elmer Reed; four sons and two daughters - in - law, Robert Lee and Patricia Harrison, Jerry Harrison, and Albert Eugene Harrison, all of LaGrange, and Clarence and Judy Harrison of Franklin; 28 grandchildren; 47 great - grandchildren; brother, Willie Frank Harrison of LaGrange; two sisters - in - law, Mae Lou Harrison of Atlanta and Mamie Ruth Harrison of LaGrange; a brother - in - law, Lee Roy Hart of LaGrange; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Monguane, and a son, Sonny Harrison, five sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Saint Paul Baptist Church on Union Street with the Rev. Reuben Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her daughter and son - in - law, Carrie and Randy Mays at 126 Jarboe St., and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 until 8.
